Shrinking-

After my DSB 1942 in 33 were too tight in 33, I got them in 36.
After a hot soak and now two cold washes they fit quite well everywhere except for the waist, where they are too wide with still 94cm or so instead of my normal ca. 90cm.

Would you rather wash at 40, 50 or 60C to shrink them more?
I normally never use the drier but might do so in this case.
Any experiences/suggestions?

I've never washed jeans warmer than 40C and have never used a drier.
So I was a bit worried about what might happen to the denim.

I first washed them in 60C. They shrunk a bit, but not enough.
I then put them in the drier, highest temperature for about 15 minutes.
Now they shrunk more, just right.
From about 47.5 to about 45cm.
The patch dried up a bit from both, but not much.
The denim is basically the same as before.

Not sure if i missed the context, but this made me laugh.

That's fine don't worry. Saw a pair of sz 32's on their site and they had four fly buttons. Won't be buying them anyway certainly not at 260 quid plus whatever import taxes etc as well (l thought originally they were 200ish). Got stung pretty harsh on my last imported denim with import duties.

They look great and all but l will have to wait until your forthcoming buckleback photo-bomb and live vicariously through you instead mate.

Dr,

I know you're all set but here's a pick of the fly. These have a decently high rise of 11" for a sz 33 waist.

Really tempted by these Hinoya exclusive 1941 DSB model despite owning the CSF 1941 model already. I need another pair of bucklebacks like l need a hole in the head. Luckily l'm a bit skint atm and when l do finally get round to having a bit of disposable income, they will probably be sold out in my size 😁

A cool pair.
Of the elusive period 40-42 (or 41-42?) with that reversed yoke.

A little slimmer than the 37 it seems.

What denim is your CSF 41 made of?

I joined the club. Couldn't resist...

Hinoya recently had a Warehouse restock and I'm thinking about picking up an 800xx. I usually wear size 34 pants/denim and was thinking about a size 36 for these - however, the non-washed waist measurement on Hinoya's site is way larger than I thought it was. If these measurements are accurate for the new batch they got in, should I expect the waist to shrink enough to fit well? I'd need a size 36 regardless because I need the extra room for my thighs and seat. I intend to do a couple of hot washes before wearing to get as much shrinkage out as I can.

For context, my size 34 IH-633 fits well. I have a size 33 Warehouse x BIG 660 that I've stretched back out in the thighs and waist to just barely fit.

Why get a cut where you have to size up for room in the seat, as opposed to a cut where it is right for you with the waist that fits?

My experience w Warehouse is limited to one pair and I took them in a 29 whereas I am more commonly a 30, but they shrunk (even after one wash) so continuously for so long I wish I'd taken a 30 now. That said, it's just a preference, they fit well all around still and definitely don't feel sized down. I just like looser stuff now.

@AlientoyWorkmachine Were they raw or one-wash? I have a pair of 800xx in 34, after the consensus seemed to be to size up, but they're far too big for me. I was going to have another go at getting rid of them at some point but if they're going to shrink a lot maybe I should hold on to them and stick them in the washer.

They were one wash. But a different denim. A 14.5oz one that’s seldom used I believe. Not sure if their others would behave that way but my guess is if so it would be sort of common knowledge. My first few washes were all warm so I was surprised at how many it took to get the shrink out - which was noticed mostly in the thighs and in the length, maybe 5 or so.
