So it started with Texture.  Then Voluminous jeans with texture.  Then Heavy voluminous jeans with texture.   Then Dark heavy voluminous jeans with texture… anyway you know how it can spiral… I’ll do the Sugar Cane Hawaii post soon for further proof of that 😉

Anyhow these 17oz Samurai S3100VX WW2 model landed today… and they’re ace.  They meet the brief perfectly.

Great service from Daniel at DC4 in Berlin... and lovely hemming to boot... using actual Samurai thread so it’s all matchy-matchy… I’m going with one big 3-inch fuck-off bucket cuff... no stopping me... 😀

Here's a thing.. I just sold the only pair of Sam's I've owned. I really liked them but there was a qc issue that was bugging the hell out of me so they had to go.

It was lie the denim that's attached to the waist band and sits behind the pocket opening was to small so didn't sit fully behind the opening,  if that makes sense? When moving in them the pocket bag , particularly around the upper curve/nearest to the fly, popped out or was visible. Especially so when sitting. Drove me crazy.

May get round to inspecting a pair when I go into R&H to see if it was an issue with that cut or a one off.

Think they were the 211 in Benkei denim.

This is only my second pair.  The first were 710s which I wore quite a bit years ago and still have but they're too small, which reminds me I need to shift them.  Both really robustly put together, no issues.  Small sample I know so not much to infer from this!!

@MJF9 I like the look of those S3100VX's. I kind of lost track of Samurai because they had too many models for me to remember and their limited editions did not really appeal to me, I had kind of forgotten that I have always liked their simpler models. I feel like they usually look good on most people too, including cuts that do not really appeal to me.

@Geeman I also had a pair of S211VX briefly. I realized that they were far too tapered for my taste and to be practical for me because the leg opening circumference was smaller than my foot, which is a struggle as a big guy with a small waist. I got rid of mine when I decided that I couldn't and didn't want to struggle trying to pull my feet through, especially once we had a newborn. The fit was pretty well done though even if it was not my usual preference. It didn't really have the carrot look that I do not like for most tapered cuts. I don't remember anything like that pocket issue, but most of my attention was directed at the leg opening

@yung_flynn similarly lost track but these caught my eye and glad they did... there's a crossover place in the wide jeans thread for them too... the thigh measured at crotch comes in at 37cm for a w36... compared to SCSC '43s (w34 with similar actual waist) which are 35cm, as are SC Hawaii... so definitely voluminous for anyone considering them

Yeah - I got a pair from Naoki that arrived at the start of the week.  The Okinawa denim was calling me after I reacquainted myself with my MF Ranch Blouse but, after taking a closer look, plumped for the Hawaii for a change and out of curiosity.  What great denim.  So nice.  I was a bit hasty and forgot to get them hemmed so it's heavy double cuffing until I do.  I know what you'll say... yes the denim rail is coming under a lot of stress lately... but I am otherwise pretty low-cost 😁

I prefer the Hawaii’s over the Okinawa’s. Better looking cut and fabric. Also better patch imho

As for Samurai, I love the models I have now but I haven’t seen anything from them recently that makes me think I need to buy it. As mentioned there so many model numbers are also very confusing.
