For the 800XX sizing up is recommended, but how much, if you normally wear a 34, just to 36 or even 38?

I'm asking because the measurements are very small for the waist:
second sunrise for the one wash: 36-42cm 38-44cm
selfedge for the rinsed one: 36- 81.25cm.  38- 82.5cm
hinoya also o/w: 36- 84cm 38-88cm

Most of my jeans measure 90cm (flat measured x2)- so the 36 would probably stretch to that , the 38 would be more comfortable.
It just seems a lot.

With the 800xx, go by the measurements, not the tag size. Recent lots of the 800 have been undersized compared to lots produced 5-8 years ago.

The measurements you posted illustrate this well. Size 36 measures 84cm at the waist according to both Second Sunrise and Hinoya. The 14oz denim will stretch some, but it’s not as forgiving as the Banner Denim in my experience. Getting the waist to stretch to 90cm is possible but it won’t be comfortable to wear the jeans out of the wash and they may not ever get to 90cm.

The 800xx lots produced in the mid 2010s were much more consistent in sizing. I had a couple pairs in size 36 that measured 47cm across raw and shrank to 44.5cm after multiple washes. With wear, they stretched to 45.5cm but were still snug in the top block.

If I were to get a pair of 800xx now I’d go with a tag size 38 (my waist measurement is still 45.5cm).

Hey everybody, quick question, I recently bought the Warehouse DD-1001XX 1947 Duck Digger and I bought them 2 sizes larger (w33) as recommended by the online store. The are one wash but the waist is a bit to big. Now I was wondering if there is still some shrinkage left in it? Or do they strech out a lot?

My pair did not shrink massively in the waist. I have put them through washing and drying numerous times, shrinking in all dimensions, but usually stretching back out in the waist - which has been perfect for me. I took a 34, and I am usually a 32, 33 or 34 in Warehouse depending on the initial state of the fabric and the cut.

Is this your first warehouse pair? Or what’s your usual warehouse size?

I would say that they continue to shrink throughout the first few washes, inseam shrinking the most.

The only way I fit in to any jeans through the full leg is to have the waist slightly too big!

Took measurements as I realised that might be more helpful than rambling on.

My size 34 DD-1001XX were listed as having a 16.5” waist when purchased. After many washes and dries, the waist today measures 16”, they’ve been worn since the last wash.

Some fit pics of the WAREHOUSE Dead Stock Blue "Lot S1001XX (1000XX)" 1946 Model WW2 Model.

Last one is a bright, sunlight pic comparing the Warehouse 1101 Big E (left) to these DSBs on the right. Interestingly the Big E are a 30, while the DSB are 29 but seem roomier in the top block.

I had tried to get some understand of the different denims and their nomenclature.

I had a look again and I think these are basically the main fabrics:

1. Dead Stock Blue DSB/WWII
it seems to be indicated by „(1000XX)“

There are two weights
a) pink selvedge- 13.5oz. 7.5x7.5
examples:
Lot 1001XX(1000XX)【1947MODEL】

b) pink selvedge- 14oz. 6.7x6.6
strong vertical fading

S1001XX(1000XX) 1946MODEL
Lot S1000XX
25th Anniversary S1001XX(1946)

2. New Denim/WWII Denim
orange selvedge 6.7 x 6.6 (ca. 14oz, sometimes described as 14.5oz)
example:

3. Banner/Three State  13.75oz  7x7
examples:
Lot 1001XX
Lot DD-1001XX(1947 MODEL)
Lot 900XX

4. Memphis Cotton 14.5oz  6x6
examples:
Lot 800XX(STANDARD)
Lot 1001XX HEAVY OUNCE

edit: Hmm, there seem to be two kinds of WWII denim: DSB and new denim. Not really sure.
But the pink vs. orange selvedge seems to be the difference.

Based on this information these jeans https://www.cultizm.com/en/denim/jeans/32252/warehouse-co.-lot-1001xx-1947-model-jeans-unwashed-indigo are DSB? I can’t find any information about it being DSB and they don’t look the same in rigid state as my previous DSB.

It could be these:
https://masuya1997.com/item/warehouse-1001xx-1000xx-19471model/

Then it would be DSB.

However, the colour of the arcuates seems to differ. The ones at cultizm look orange while the other look lemon.

Or it just looks like that on the pic.

But even if they're different, I think, the "1000XX" in small letter above "Lot 1001XX" indicates DSB, I think.

My pair is a size 31 (one-wash) that I bought secondhand, but in very new condition. I've washed them a few times and waist measures 16.2" with waistbands aligned after a few wears post-wash. Inseam has plateaued at 31.7". I avoid the dryer because they are already bordering on too short

Thanks for the detailed answer. Guess there isn't much shrinkage left in the fabric.

Anyone pick up the new 1105 Big E? They look like the new late 70's 505 equivalent of the 1101, including the same 7 x 7 denim. Hinoya and Warehouse JP (Bears sold out) still have some in my size and I'm curious. The more period appropriate denim appeals more to me than the previous Banner Denim run of 1105 and there are not too many 505 repros out there

(Photos partly nicked from WAYWT)

It’s been touch and go on the fit of the 1101 Big E’s for me. They are absolutely as slim in the thigh and top block as I could possibly go. I did have them hemmed to 29” assuming they would shrink straight away to my ideal 27.5-28”, which didn’t happen, much to my horror.

Thankfully they’re getting there after 4 or so washes and I reckon after another hot wash I’ll be able to get rid of the turn-up entirely.

I really like the fit of these now after much deliberation and almost regret. The fabric is still a lot rougher than the banner denim but is looking amazing, lots of speckles and rough waste cotton flecks, should fade amazingly and due to the snugness around the top half, should continue to form into a perfectly fitting pair.

Greetings, all. I'm new to superdenim and I've been rereading this thread for about a week. I just received a pair of the 1001XX(1000XX) DSB 1946 repros, and I absolutely adore them. I haven't washed them yet as I am currently fading a couple of other pairs for the time being, but I look forward to wearing these a LOT. I think they may be the perfect denim for me.

I greatly appreciate @indigoeagle’s post a page back in the thread regarding the Warehouse numbering system. I would appreciate any more information on this as anyone would be willing to offer. As I said, I've read through much of the more recent parts of this thread (since about page 300) and it's left me more confused on this issue than I was before reading. It seems sometimes the numbers indicate a cut or a repro year and sometimes they indicate a specific denim used? If any of you who are long time Warehouse enthusiasts would be willing to shed some light on the subject and potentially the evolution of the lot no. usage, I would be greatly appreciative.

Lastly, I've read elsewhere in the last week that Warehouse produces (or produced?) the Burgus Plus line for Hinoya. Can anyone confirm or deny this fact? I have a Burgus Plus chambray that I adore and would be interested to know that it was my actual first Warehouse made piece as opposed to these jeans that I've just received.

I will definitely be purchasing more Warehouse in the future. I'll keep my eyes posted for loopwheeled sweat shirts, as I have a soft spot for those.

Thanks, everyone. I'm glad to a be a (late) newcomer to this forum.

PS—I've noticed that a lot of people posting in this thread pick the arcuates to get the full Levi repro look with the Warehouse denim. I've not seen people in other communities (notably IG) do this nearly as much. I'm curious as to why most of you seem to want to do this? Not questioning... I had no intention of picking this arcs on my pair until I had them in hand, and I suddenly had the burning desire to grab my seam ripper and have at them, which is very strange for me... I'm the guy who can't even bend the corner on a book page to mark my spot because I hate to intentionally alter the original condition of anything—much more of a "natural patina" kind of attitude for me, usually.

Welcome @ChemProfJSpencer! Great to have you here!

I can't speak much to the qualities of the different denims used and their numbering/naming system as I'm pretty new too!

On the arcuates though, I believe Warehouse aim for as close to an exact reproduction of vintage pairs as much as they possibly can. Circumventing the copyright / IP lawsuits by putting the double arcuates on to sell their jeans, then giving the customer the choice to remove one and make them look exactly as intended, is part of that aiming for exact replica.

I actually totally missed this at first (like didn't even clock that was a thing and you could unpick one side and make it like old Levi's - I'm the kind of person to not even sense a plot twist coming in a movie, so it tallies), and only noticed once I saw @yung_flynn share his DD-1001XX on this thread. Since then I have done this to both of the Warehouse pairs I currently own.

I will say I'm steadily becoming a Warehouse megafan, like a lot of people here, I've a few pairs of their denim and some T-shirts, shirts etc, all very nice and getting a lot of wear.

They do indeed make jeans for Burgus plus, not sure on the other items though. They also make clothing for John Gluckow, Heller's Cafe and currently produce Denime as well.

Honestly, I just bought my pair secondhand in almost unworn condition and the original owner picked the arcs out already. I don't mind the standard double arcs, so I'm unsure whether I'd pick them upside-down ones if I were the original owner.

Here are the numbers on my size 34:

Pre-wash:

  • Waist: 18" / 46 cm
  • Front rise: 13.5" / 34 cm
  • Rear rise: 17.75" / 45 cm
  • Hip (7.5 cm up from crotch seam):  24" / 61 cm
  • Thigh: 13.5" / 34 cm
  • Mid-thigh (10 cm below crotch seam): 11.75" / 30 cm
  • Knee (34 cm below crotch seam): 10" / 25 cm
  • Hem: 9.25" / 23.5 cm
  • Inseam: 35.5 in / 90 cm

Post-wash (40 °C, delicate cycle, no spin, no detergent, sun-dried outside)

  • Waist: 17.5" / 44 cm
  • Front rise: 13" / 33 cm
  • Rear rise: 17" / 43 cm
  • Hip (7.5 cm up from crotch seam):  23" / 58.5 cm
  • Thigh: 12.75" / 32.5 cm
  • Mid-thigh (10 cm below crotch seam): 11.25" / 28.5 cm
  • Knee (34 cm below crotch seam): 9.5" / 24 cm
  • Hem: 8.75" / 22.5 cm
  • Inseam: 34.5" / 87 cm

They shrank about 4% in most dimensions, which is less than I anticipated. However, they fit pretty well right now so I'll probably wear them as is for the time being. I feel sure they will shrink more in subsequent washes, particularly the inseam.

Here are a few more pics for fun. Fit shot will have to wait till tomorrow when I have my tripod.

Okay, last time I’ll spam this thread until these get some significant wear. I did a second wash and got a touch more shrink as hoped for:

  • Waist: 17" / 43 cm
  • Front rise: 13" / 33 cm
  • Rear rise: 16.5" / 42 cm
  • Hip (7.5 cm up from crotch seam):  22.5" / 57 cm

@lobster_for_lunch Yeesh! That’s ≈ 10% after 1 wash. That’s a lot! I have about 5–6% across measurements after 2 washes. I’ll be careful not to wash them any hotter than 40 °C moving forward.
