Samurai Jeans

Hello everyone! Just received my first pair of Samurai's and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on those (S5000 BKB-RR) The size is spot on after a 1h warm soak (35W) but i found them to be pretty wide so I had them tapered a bit and now they are perfect. I have two questions:

1) Does this model fade at all like the indigo ones or not since both the warp and weft are black? Any examples out there?

2) Any suggestions on the next pair from Samurai but with a more slim straight type cut?

Tnx!

I thought the S5000 was pretty much the definition of "slim straight", I tried them on downsized one and to get them any slimmer without crushing the whole private parts area seemed pretty impossible to me. I guess a tapered cut would've been more to your liking from the start ;)

Max, well yeah, but the leg is still pretty slim while also being straight. Not trying to discuss tapered vs. straight here, because that's obviously personal preference. I'm just saying that in my opinion (or maybe only to my limited knowledge) it's hard finding a slimmer straight leg.

How's the breathability on those?

Still haven't ordered a pair yet, but still considering them. Maybe this week...

They seem pretty breathable so far, but I have really only worn them a few times in the very cold weather we have been experiencing.  I will be curious to see how they feel in the springtime.  They basically feel like a decently heavy canvas.  The relaxed fit surely helps with the breathability too.

My S510OG 16oz AK in size 32 arrived from 2nd.

measurements (in inches):

waist: 31.0 (raw, unworn)

waist: 32.0 (raw, worn for an hour)

front rise: 11.5

back rise: 15.5

thigh: 13 (2" down from bar tack at crotch seam, all fabric measured)

knee: 9.75

hem: 9

inseam: 38

First impressions: it seems like Samurai adjusted for different sizes in this 510 fit just by making the waist band smaller. The hips are HUGE in comparison, and therefore make HUGE saddle bags. The waist is way small, so Foxy you're right in what Take5 told you. But since they are such high-rise the waist fits just fine. There's a TON of extra fabric bunching up in the junk area. It doesn't look as bad in the photos as it really is. When I look at the photos I think "Hey those look alright!". The GF doesn't like them, says they look like girl jeans because they're so high-waisted and so much extra fabric. Ppffff, what does she know LOL.

The denim and construction is insane. Amazing. Stunning. Truly incredible. I thin kthe stitching and detailing on these are better than ANY other jeans I have/had. I can't take decent enough photos to do them justice. Incredibly stiff when I first tried them on. Being so stiff I think that in part adds to bunching and saddle bagging. No idea how much they'll shrink. BiG told me this denim shrinks lees than other Samurai denim. No idea if that's true or not.

I'm not sure I like them enough to keep them. The fit is really, really odd to me with such a small waist and huge hips. Kinda disappointed in how they fit, as I was hoping all the measurements would be adjusted for smaller sizes. It appears that way on all of the size charts I looked at.

I was planning on wearing these in the DWC, but now I don't know...

Comments/opinions welcome.
