There isn’t a typical US or JP way of measuring clothing, different stores measure garments in different ways.. for instance BiG have always measured differently to SE..

Most stores around the world just copy/paste the sizes recommended by the brands but if any store measures a specific way, they usually provide a ‘how we measure tab’ showing the garment being measured.

All - what's (who makes) your favorite type III jacket?

Not long ago I was selecting type 3 jacket and decided on Fullcount. Very nice jacket. Also was considering Sugar Cane, TCB, orSlow, Boncoura, etc. As per now FC item seem to be enough to satisfy my need for type 3, maybe I will think about getting another from WH when they will release one.

I'm still considering the Tender ones, which look really nice. Last year I got a pair from Brut, those are great - I like the pleats but maybe that's not for everyone. Not sure if they're still available. De Bonne Facture has had some as well. Those Story ones ^ look great but that damn drawstring. I've seen a few other brands with the drawstring too and I just can't do it. Hot take but it makes them not real pants, but leisure wear. And one rule I have is that I will not wear that outside of my house.

Thanks all, some good options. Those Brut ones look absolutely perfect. Only available in beige currently but will keep an eye out for other colours. Pleats are good.

I’m a big fan of the Drake’s Games trousers which is a nice tailored play on workwear but unless their models are all 4’6” and 100lbs, the fit on me was nothing like in the look books. They look like a fairly regular fit with a mid-high rise but even sizing up two in the waist I was getting banana smuggling vibes in the crotch and a slim fit overall. Shame as the fabric and construction is top-drawer.

Sidenote, agree on the leisurewear thing, I don’t even wear it in the house. Most nights my other half will say things like ‘it can’t be comfortable sitting around in jeans every evening’… she’s probably right but unless I’m at the gym I feel weird wearing sweatpants. Perhaps I need some trad pyjamas and a smoking jacket.

The best place to search for any Iron Heart items is probably the Iron Heart forum’s sales thread. I haven’t been on that forum for a couple of years but if it still exists, that’s likely to be the best source.

@Maynard Friedman You are probably right about that, i am already on that forum and trying to source. But i reckon that some of the stuff i want is more available in Japan, so i am trying to find more places, hence i thought of this place here. But thank you for the recommendation, if you happen to know any good japanese sites please feel free to list any.

You can try fromjapan.co.jp. or page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp. But, I would support Maynard's recommendation to follow Iron Heart forum.

Not looking to spend Ironheart ££ .

Was thinking Burgus Plus but the collars in some pictures look a bit 1970s...

Never really looked at Pike Brothers but the 1943 versions look OK, any experience?

Buzz an obvious choice, any others that don't break the bank?

We're going to Mexico next week, Mexico city and Oaxaca. Anything specific denim, indigo, leather, etc, to look for? We've got tons of other activities (so much food...), including the standards tourist sites, but I'm curious if there's anything people here would recommend.

Has anyone done a good reproduction of the Sierra Designs 60/40 Mountain Parka from the ‘80s?

I’ve been eyeing these for years and am at a point where I think I’d really like to get my hands on one. Sierra Designs actually still makes them—domestically in the US, at that—but they’re only available on the Japanese market, and something about paying a proxy service to buy a MiUSA jacket from the Japanese branch of an American company just to ship it back state side really rubs me the wrong way. I’ll probably still end up going for it if there aren’t any other good options out there, but would rather something more direct.

Sadly, vintage doesn’t seem to be a great option for these.

Oi Polloi used to stock them.. also plenty of variations on the theme but this was 10.. maybe 15yrs ago so my memory is pretty hazy but i think their blog is still supported.. it's as good'a place to start as any (try and find their outerwear stock lists) .. the 60/40 design has been very popular around the UK/Eu for decades.. here i'll get you started

Good shout! The Michi Jacket (https://crescentdownworks.com/collections/jackets/products/michi-jacket-mustard) is very close to what I’m looking for. They’ve been on my radar for a while, but I don’t think I realized they did anything non-down. I wish they offered some better colors, but that does seem like a good potential option

Its good kit.. i bought a SC down vest back in 2009 before i realised the Calafornia range was MiC.. sent it back and replaced it with a CDW vest.. i was nice, good fit and great quality, i'm not sure what happened to it? i think i lost it on a camping trip... i quite like their range of colours, i like the dark red, i like the tan, i like the olive, my down vest had a blue outer and a tan inner.

I really like the FC one but can't find it in navy blue anymore.

Doesn't need to be an exact repro. The Burgus Plus one has hand warmers and two chest pockets and I'd consider it as well as the more accurate Buzz version.

Pike Brothers is a brand I've never really liked but the CPO version looks OK. Anyone own PB?

Some pictures show it with a chin strap though and some without

Which setting do I need to take me to the most recent posts in a thread?

Currently I am taken to the same post in each thread (from weeks ago).

Example: I click the last page of the Roy thread, and always get directed to this place from December.

Thanks
