.. but the site is taking an age to refresh, even uploading that^ 38kb screenshot took over 30seconds.

Same for anyone else?

Same here.  I noticed it yesterday and doesn't seem to be any better on my end.

Yes, it's been super slow for me, I think for a few days to be honest. I thought it was an issue with my internet. Interestingly, another forum I'm on that uses the same software (but is way more active with more users) is also notably slower.

Another Ben Hur reference?
(That movie has been on my mind since Double O's chariot races comment.)

PS. Still running slow for me.

Does anyone else find black denim (as in black/black, non-fade) a magnet to pet hairs?

Not talking about visibility either. All my black denim is like velcro to our dog; yet indigo, very much less noticeable. I was thinking it was more down to the fact that most of my indigo denim gets worn way more than my black denim thus, dirt, grime and wear makes the denim smoother and less susceptible to the hair clinging on but pure speculation.

Could also be the contrast. Black/Black would lend more contrast to lighter things like dirt, pet hair, etc., as opposed to black/white or blue/white fabric itself having some variation in color. This probably helps obscure dirt and anything else on the surface since it's already visually broken up, but I could be wrong

I don’t even have a pet right now but anyways, yes, I do find this to be the case. Always thought it was the visibility factor though as most black denim I’ve owned has actually tended to be more uniform and smooth.

Looking for sizing advice on MiJ converse. How do they compare to the chuck 70s? I’ve read mixed reviews on sizing some say they run small other say big.

I went same size in both. The toe box in MIJ is rounder and slightly wider than the 70s

^^^I think you will either have to pay the shipper on delivery, or customs will call you and ask for a payment.

Strangely this happened to me years ago with a delivery from MEADOW (Sweden). I was asked where the clothes were constructed (I think it was Portugal in that particular case). That was the only time I ever got a customs charge. Apparently this will be the new norm...

I have a Brown's Beach vest, and a jacket.

The vest is easy to wear and comes into rotation most Winters at some point.

The jacket, for some reason the fabric seems a lot heavier and stiffer and perhaps I just need to wear it enough to break it in. I can say however, having seen original BB garments, they are not heavy and stiff.

You could have found an entire 'Beach Cloth' thread over on Denimbro until someone saw fit to delete it.. it had fit pics, fabric comparisons, thread structure, period magazine adverts, original garments from the 1920s, 30s 40s and so on

I don't have the energy to do it again but i've got some Brown's Beach.. it's nice.. get some!

Best i can muster nowadays... :D

I'm sad I missed that, Double 0.

Did you ever try that 'wayback machine' business whereby one could magically find deleted threads, supposedly?

Wayback is just archived internet snapshots.. it's ok for revisiting the way web pages looked in days gone by but you can't use it for recovering chunks of deleted data which is what we needed it for.. i think the mods just told us to use it so we'd shut the fk up while they figured out whet the hell they were going to do.. which was inevitably nothing.

Does anyone have experience with paying these tariffs? I have beaten the taxes so far, but will I have to pay on delivery, or will the package be held hostage at the warehouse?

I’m about to find out because my package was delayed. It looks like it’s pay at delivery at UPS. Government fees are about 25% of the item + shipping cost. There is an additional $12 broker fee too. In total, it’s quite expensive

^ remains to be seen what happens with US retail prices, but I think I’m pausing overseas ordering for now because in the few situations I’ve priced it, it’s not very different from US anymore. That said, usually it’s more about availability or something else than strictly price anyways, but if US retailers can keep their prices in place (presumably they paid some fees already - though probably not as high as now - because they are not de minimis orders), they may do a little better. I don’t know. That’s probably stupidly optimistic.

Also, Sufu is painfully slow for me again.
