^ Although if he wore one of his usual pairs whilst being water boarded, the process may create some interesting artificial distressing to his jeans. As well as quite a bit of distress to his person…

I feel like this musing should have been posted in the 'General Nonsense' thread, so sorry mods if I'm mucking things up here. As for me, I did buy one of the pre-distressed Full Count chino's and immediately sold them...it felt wrong. Like stolen valor (almost).

Waterboarding is like bodyboarding .. right?

No, it’s working for your local H2O supplier - in your case I assume that’s Yorkshire Water.

Isn't waterboarding making huge profits by supplying a natural resource for years then blarting for a government handout when the infrastructure you failed to maintain starts to breakdown despite said profits?

Or is that just seven trent waterboarding?

Do we have any active forum members that live in Japan?
Trying to find someone that could possibly proxy for something applicable to the unknown brands thread, unfortunately I don't think traditional proxy services will cut it.
It's going to a store on a specific day, but I'm working out the details. And if successful it would likely warrant a spin off to a new standalone thread.

Only person I can think of off the top of my head is @vlad_III, but please dm me if interested!

Have you tried emailing the store?

I know it sounds futile but even with my terrible grasp of the Japanese language, I wrote to Junky regarding the release of their 100x units of JSP 46s (it wasn’t even in store, it was at an exhibition) I translated my text to Japanese.. I asked very, very nicely and they made it happen.. ordinarily they wouldn’t even like international shipping.. maybe get @Cold Summer to help out with all the culturally acceptable’dear sir or madams’ :)

Normally I would give that a try, but what I'm after has been advertised explicitly as only available in person (designated by the manufacturer).
I might still give it a try though if I don't get any bites here, it's worked in the past before.

I talked to both Junky shops recently (by telephone) and both said, that they don't ship overseas.
Which is a pity, since they have editions, often bigger sizes and N/W-versions.

In the past I've worked with Japanese shops, in that I organized the shipping label (say from DHL Express) and mailed it to them. They just had to package everything, print out the lable and wait for the driver to pick up the package. Can't be easier than that.
But they still have to organize to receive the payments (via paypal or similarly) and of course then set up the processes to handle that transactions with regard to their taxes.

@BroarkSome shops/artists who insist on purchases in person also won't allow that a big person buys a small size. Just to keep that in mind.

Definitely considered this as well, I'm gonna shoot vlad a message since he is a similar size as me so if he's around it might just work...

I'll shoot my shot but I'm not holding my breath on landing them on my pwn, but you never know if you don't try!

Hmm.. you can just buy any old liner, I got mine from the army surplus store the buttons are on the jacket inner and the holes are in the liner so if it doesn’t fit, you can just unpick the buttons, put the liner on, put the jacket on, chalk the button holes onto the jacket and reposition the buttons.

Ah, cool. I actually have an old liner too.

Sizing seems a bit funny. I went to RMC and they sized me a small on the parka, which I didn't love the fit. I went to a store in Osaka that didn't have any of the Buzz ones in stock but the shop owner thought I was a Large which is my usual Buzz size. He was saying the sizes for the Buzz jacket is arm length and not size, as they are all one size and the arm length is the difference.

I didn't know that.. but It does sound logical for mil-spec, if recruits are all sized between the min and max height parameters for army enlistment, why have size grading on a garment which is designed to fit like a shapeless sack.. the only defining factor would be the arms length.. it makes perfect sense

I had a vintage M-65 parka which i bought in Brighton 25yrs ago.. i didn't have it long but they bring back great memories for me.. when it was my birthday we'd been out the night before and got trashed, one of my friends slept on our sofa because we were planning on hiking up Kinder on the morning of my birthday.. being January, it was knee deep in snow.. he's a serious mountaineer type so was dressed appropriately in gore jacket, gore salopettes...ect  i was wearing a fishtail parka, jeans and a Stussy beanie.. i was also driving a very fancy Nissan 300ZX when the only other cars on the snow covered roads were Landrovers.. we must have looked like a right pair.. i took a Toblerone :D ..

I ended up swapping the M-65 for a 1/4 of weed, it would always made me smile seeing this guy doing his 'deliveries' incognito like on a twist and go 50cc Piaggio wearing a vintage M-65 Field Parka and full face bike helmet.

The lining i bought was actually for my field jacket but it's the same button arrangement, i just wore it to the surplus store and went through a rail full of liners to find something that fitted.

..additionally, my M-65 parka had a hood (can’t remember if it was detachable or not) with a wire inside the fur trim so you could flatten out the wire with hood down or for the snorkel effect with the hood up, you would bend the wire to create the shape..

As a child of the 80s, a parka to me first and foremost will always mean a snorkel coat but Japanese shops and auction sites refer to a hooded sweatshirt as a parka.. yet the M-65 parka above doesn’t have a hood, so what actually defines a ‘parka’ In Japan?

Anyone ever used reggieshop.com? They have an interesting line-up of brands. I came across a 31% off discount code that works on the Sugar Cane Super Denim Collectibles models they carry (#01 and #05). If anyone is interested, they have 34, 36, and 38 available in the #05 (1942) and 38 in #01 (1945). Hope this is ok to post, code is Happy31.
