Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

What’s happened to the old place?.. have y’all had an argument and nobody’s talking to each other?

I took the summer off, away from the interwebz to concentrate on my garden renovation.. now it’s like shouting into the void.. even the influencers have bailed..

Maybe we need a slogan? ‘Make Sufu Great Again’ .. well maybe not that one but c’mon.. let’s give the joint a coat of paint!

Be careful what you wish for Double 0. That thread from 2007 you posted yesterday reminded me why I didn’t post for about 10 years after setting up an account- absolute fucking drivel.

That said, 1 or 2 light-touch trolls would be nice. Get signing into your second accounts lads! I’d pay good(ish) money to see Geeman and that oddball have an on-forum MMA scrap again. Our new batch of mods will get us back into line if required!

That's a good shout Unders... we're missing some good old trolling... think they all hang round on Twitter and Insta now

Gee... there's a 'Sub 8 inch hems' thread with your name on it... go get it pal... you'll just need to keep posting every week so it stays on the first few pages

I think we need more Sufu Cheerleaders really...

At least for my climate, summer is the worst time of year for me to contribute regularly.
It's blazing hot, all I wear is tees and rotate through a few broken in pairs or shorts on the weekend so not much to post from a waywt perspective.
Hell, I don't even go outside on some days if I didn't have to, we had a stretch of 45 days in a row over 100 degrees...

It's definitely been quiet, I think the more active people post on the social media platforms (reddit, IG, etc.) which I think are inferior mediums for meaningful discourse.
And honestly a lot of stuff that seems to be popular elsewhere just isn't here which is going to lead to it being a little more quiet.

I'll do my best to be more active now that it's a comfortable temperature to do things outside.
Got a couple of trips planned (heading to Denver next weekend) so that should be fun. I'll try and swing by the new BiG location and post some photos.

I don’t mean to troll but I’ll continue to drop such broad takes where appropriate. It’s in hopes for a better overall forum and by extension a better world.

Such takes include a distaste for cowboy and western wear is appropriate, Lee and Wrangler designs and therefore repros are ugly, Warehouse just isn’t worth it when there’s Freewheelers(great denim but between those flimsy pockets and disintegrating stitching c’mon), Moc toes aren’t good either, etc.

Just don’t expect pure consistency.

Gotta agree with your take on this one, I've never been able to get with Lee / Wrangler repros.
I associate Wrangler with frat bros from the university here. 🫠

I've been pretty hectic with some real life stresses  of late but do owe the WAYJDT thread an update with some pics I took a couple weeks back.

Re Lee I dont dig the cowboy vibe but do like the back pockets!

One of 3 current wearers, my 'not that special' 1930 Lee's ;), bought in 2008. Worn for odd jobs and gardening. Looking to put aside soon and replace with something new or unwashed.

Love the hardware on Lee's, as it is exactly that - hard wear, not like lvc for example. But l prefer the rivets on my 1930's Lee jacket (last photo), which are more accurate being cut at the ends, rather than the jean rivets which are different. Not sure how they're finished actually.

^^^Pitiful.. pitiful excuses.. just pitiful!

I started excavating the garden wearing jeans and soon realised that workwear is fucking shite for working outdoors.. Wow, that was a revelation!.. give me a pair of rip-stop shorts any day of the week... my back has been ruined lugging big pieces of york stone, oak sleepers, bags of sand and cement ect.. to our house from the road, even after the ibuprofen has kicked in.. i haven't even been able to bend down and pull a pair of jeans on so i've been sleeping in socks for days on end.. so i don't have to take them off/on.. getting up in the morning, holding some shorts open with one hand, lifting my leg into the leg opening with the other.. driving to work (laces still untied) because i've needed the car for tools and such.. working in my gardening shorts.. having some breakfast.. driving back home when it's light..working on the garden till 2pm.. driving back to work.. working till 6pm.. driving home and working on the garden till it goes dark.. some nights i've been that exhauseted, i've fallen asleep on the grass and woken up at 2am shivering.. shorts off, leave them at the side of the back door covered in mud.. limp off to bed, often without a shower.. get up the next day.. rinse/repeat..

I started wearing the McCoy's for work again last month when i had to bin my garden shorts and ditched the car in favour of the bike but i haven't worn a pair of jeans at home since April.. i've been wearing those baggy blue chinos for the much needed slouchy comfort.. This weekend, i'll be back in the Devis tho!

Y’all watch what you say about wrangler. Those are fightin words!
Never been a Lee fan. But wranglers are great and the cowboy cut 13MWZ is the toughest pair of jeans you can get for $25 if you actually work in your denim. Haha

Why didn't anyone wake you?  Or was it the police who woke you for sleeping in public with your shorts off?? Or is that normal in South Yorkshire 😃

Great job on the patio though... and here's to many years of enjoyment ahead!

@Double 0 Soul Flash has traded the denims for tattoos. He’s focusing on his tattoos these days. I think he’s gotten more into vintage clothing as well. I bought a new Freewheelers chore jacket off him recently.

Cool enough to wear a denim jacket this morning so I'm happy.

Big lizard has made a home in one of our trees in the backyard, gave me a startle this morning.
Need to name him as we see him running around regularly. He blends in well!

I still check in mate but I'm just not as interested in the whole denim scene as I once was . I've been about the forums for 15 years or more and I think I've maybe just had my fill of getting hyped about the next new thing . I miss the old sufu days when everything was actually "new" ( to me )
