I've spent the past 6 years—the entirety of the time that I've been active on this forum—working towards a degree in physics (experimental AMO, for anyone up on the lingo). That stage of life is finally coming to a close. My dissertation isn't quite finished, but the commencement ceremony for the past year's worth of graduates took place last week, and I was close enough to finishing that I chose to participate. Since Duke's already let the cat out of the bag, I figure it's only right that I follow up with photos. feat. cheap rental gown & hat, TFH shirt, Tightly Stitched belt, Roy jeans, MOTO shoes also feat. my good buddy Nick, w/ Indigofera shirt, Warehouse shirt, Roy jeans, Nick's boots18 points

Jeansjacke he says "shinsaku"- it really sounds like Jeansjacke. 'Kind of like song lyrics, where one sometimes hears something and when looking at the text, it was actually something else. Shinsaku means "new piece/creation" or so.5 points

You haven't seen Edwin's construction work! Blue denim jacket with black jeans sends my ocd wild... hell no!4 points

I recall a guy that was around real cowboys back in the 60s/70s telling me that while it was ok to wear a new denim jacket with old jeans, the opposite was frowned upon. Or was it the other way around?....4 points

@tooth he is alive and kicking. His style changed (back to) more to 80s metalheads but he is still well and fades denim.4 points

Continuing on from the conversation in the Sugarcane thread, on the topic of proper REALLY rare unseen Nos Levis pieces, l bagged these shots from a collector/wearer on lg. 1927 First pocket flapped 506xx in a size 36 - it says 'Size 36' rather than 'W/L 36' as that didn't happen until c.1937. Tried to enlarge the magazine shots to clarify (King of vintage Vol 4). Also just about make out the copper riveted on the patch. (Obviously if you click on the image it comes up clearer)4 points

Gorgeous! lovely how the sideways-cut yoke has a different tone from the up-and-down cut front panels, and ruches them in along the seam.3 points

All the stores would be committed to a balance of stock, then depending on interest would add further n/w or o/w as they would judge worthwhile. As @broark mentions you can only buy what’s available. I’ve noticed a strange approach during this upsurge of interest in FW denim in that folk believe they can simply buy any model they might have seen. That might work for 47 or 51 model jeans since FW see them as permanent designs, but most of the rest will only be offered in the season of the year of production … and FW production runs are not on the same scale as most of the other manufacturers (Warehouse etc). Basically you are relying on luck a lot of the time if it’s something from more than a season or two back.2 points

Almost done with the move, I've got a back yard to take photos now. 601XXC 1937 worn since November / December, one initial wash and two subsequent washes. Aiming to get a little more contrast with these, but it's tough since they are pretty loose.2 points

Spent the last few days in Strasbourg as I had a concert booking there on Friday night. A friend works at the modern art museum. I'm a fan of this particular kind of stuff. All by Victor Brauner. They also have this - Rodin's The Thinker Pertaining to the music event. I made the magazine article. Some of the musicians, mostly piano players.2 points

Black jacket & blue jeans is classic for me… not as sure about the reverse, but why not? i ran into my friend this morning wearing a blue denim jacket with black-n-bleach patterned loose 505s… it was a great outfit as far as im concerned!1 point

I discovered this recently when, after warming up to the WW2 jeans that I bought on a whim, I decided to seek out the matching jacket. There was a size 46 on Yahoo auctions that I watched go through one cycle unsold. I held off thinking he might drop the price but someone else bought it on the next go round. Can't find that size anywhere else...1 point

so we talked about our fav jackets and pants, but what about bags? even when I dont wear acronym pants or a jacket or anything else I always at least have my most used bag on me fav bag: 3A-2. breaks the rules of physics and can fit more inside than actual space the bag takes up ”grail” bag: 3A-5. after a lot of reading here on Sufu came to the conclusion that the non-TS has more utility. want to pick one up when the right color and fabric is available1 point

Shell, Dream, agreed. Pants: P17-CH would be my happy place. Liner: I love the AK series. Probably a minority opinion in this crowd but I prefer natural fibers. Thanks for the pod suggestion, I will check it out.1 point
