Samurai Jeans

I got to 'collaborate' on this pair, ie. sit on the sideline while choices were pretty much made by others. They are going to be pretty ugly jeans imo

i wanted a lighter denim, in a wider cut, with more toned down features.

I'll be getting a free pair but i'm 90% sure my thighs will never fit into these unless i drop about 10kg of muscle...

How come choices were made by others? Was it just that the stuff you wanted was not backed up by anyone?

Would anyone like some Samurai paraphernalia that I got with my order from 2nd in Japan? They gave me a plaque (?; the size of a mousepad, I guess you put it in your car or something?), sticker, and handkerchief. Just cover the shipping and they're yours.

essentially

Off the bat it seemed like everyone else wanted a 710xx cut and the heaviest denim they could use.  From there it progressed and just developed into a pair of "what can we do and what does samurai have that we can use," which brought on the tab choices, using all the different buttons on the fly, etc.

There was no real voting process but I'd say that all the other contestants are getting a pair they are excited about, and the excitement for the pair is high on reddit as well. We may all just be a little out of touch and no longer the target market

That makes sense - so basically it sounds like your preference for a wider cut was the minority opinion, so it was disregarded rather quickly.

Don't think any of the winners were superfuture regulars so it makes sense that the final product is leaning towards what the average reddit user prefers. Were the winners mostly reddit regulars?

Can anyone comment on how slim the S511xx cut actually is compared to PBJ and SDA slim tapered?  Okayama Denim called it a slim tapered but based on the measurements it appears to be more of a slim straight.  I've decided to get the S511SJC-AI and am wondering if I'll need to get them tapered to get then close to the PBJ and SDA slim tapered cuts I'm used to.  I have a couple pairs in the 710 cut that I got to work by sizing down and getting tapered by Railcar.

Does anyone have experience with Samurai's home grown cotton?  Saw a lot of discussion but doesn't look like anyone has actually gotten a pair yet.

I can't speak directly to your question, but I have both 710's and 511's and I'm pretty much always a 34 in the 710's and a 35 in the 511's.  For me it's the thinner thighs on the 511's that require sizing up a bit.  Even sized up 1 the cut of the 511's still feel a bit thinner overall compared to my 710's, but not a ton.

Popped in to my favourite Melbourne store and the owner took a few shots of my samurai 710 blue shadows (and primarily my RMC leather).

reposting all this because it was lost in the database crash

Evo pix of my S5000AI-10SP, which are essentially semi-retired. They will require so many more repairs (they're already ready for a THIRD major crotch repair) I'm not sure it's worth continuing to invest in them, especially since they don't even seem to getting much wear despite having worn them every day that it wasn't hot (in summer I wear something else). These probably have 14-16 months invested into them and they've been washed every 4-8 weeks which may have contributed to the problem since they shrink a TON every time.

The strange part is the wear shows up MORE in the places that are less abraided, like on the legs and not the lap:

Next post will show what repairs they need. :(

8 years later I pulled these out of the closet and got them repaired. I've lost about 40 pounds so they aren't so tight anymore which may have contributed to the problem. I'm giving em another chance!

Thanks chambo. I'll try and get some fit pix this weekend. Jeans basically look the same, just repaired. They fit me better now with the weight loss, so hopefully less strain on the seams etc

Is my memory terrible or does the 20th Anniversary 16oz feel completely different from the Denimio 16oz?  Aren't they both supposed to be the same Geisha fabric?

Frankly speaking I didn't see any official confirmation that they are geisha denim, just suppositions on that matter here and other boards.

Anyway this 20th 16oz turned out to be pretty interesting: a lot of texture and very dark.

Since the topic came up over in the Sugarcane thread over cotton-wool mix denim I’ll post Samurai related pics here:

S001JP-F - Lot.14

A couple of years ago in Samurai launched a mini-series of their Yamato line on the subject of seasonal variations of denim. The fall-winter version featured a cotton-wool denim. Other examples of said mini-series featured other fiber mixes and other models from the Yamato series.

I got my pair a couple of years back and, sadly, they are too small for me now. As they are not with me in Moscow, I’ll post some of the initial pictures from way back then...

Thanks for posting. It's interesting that those have such a similar grey cast to the weft as the Cane's. I guess that's just how wool goes?
