I just found it interesting that this worn-in pair from the book and the deadstock pair the 1943 model is based on are actually made at the same time and both survived the time.

I've always washed my 100% rayon SunSurf shirts in the machine on a delicates cycle, bit of washing detergent, take it out after a short spin and put it on a hanger to dry, they always come out just fine.. i think i've posted about it somewhere in the midst of this thread.

I was unsure for the first wash but what convinced me was the plethora of rayon shirts in the vintage shops.. most of which are in pretty good shape considering their age/material and there is no way they've always been dry cleaned with the utmost care... why would you if you're donating it?

Thanks for the follow up. I ended up hand washing it and it turned out just fine. Next time it gets the delicate cycle.

I wore the 47 denim only for a brief time (in the 2021 model, my 1947 are unworn) and yes, this 46 denim fades quicker.

I bought the 1946 model (a bit late, lol). I was lucky to find a pair in my size at Göteborg Manufaktur.

The fit is perfect for me. The fabric is really beautiful, and the level of detail is impressive. I can't wait to wear it, but I'll have to get the length altered.

Small detail observed in Clutchman's video, with the comparison of the 1946 SG model (on the left) and the 1946 501 (on the right): the stitching of the belt loop is sewn into the pocket bag on the 501, whereas in SG's reproduction, it is not sewn into the pocket bag. 🧐

@MJF9 No, that was my backyard and I was wearing another pair.  We had gone over 30 days without rain here and we finally had an overcast day, so I decided to take some pics.

I couldn't have that dog off leash in an open area...one rabbit or squirrel and she'd be gone forever.

Just bought a new pair of the 1966. It's tagged SC42966A. The guy at the store said they were raw, but I thought all the 1966 were one washed (my old pair is). Anyone know? Maybe the A in the end of the lot is for Raw? Couldn't find more info at Toyo.

SC does also theirs jeans in RAW version. But in low percentage of production. One wash dominates. If you search for raw SCs, Pants Shop Avenue is just right store....

A = One Wash

N = Non Wash

Technically they are raw, just one washed

On my patch is only 1966 without A, or N.

I bought them from b_F  in 2022 and he bought them in Pants Shop from Noaki as RAW.

Photo of patch is from day I received them from b_F and he wore them only one day....

The A or N suffix will be on an internal tag (in the pocket I think) rather than the patch.

It's the nylon internal pocket label, these suffix letters mean nothing.. if they do have an A or an N it's just a coinkidink.. i've got raw SCs with an A.. i've also got raw SCs with a C and a H?

You should be able to tell if they're rinsed by the look of the patch.

H should mean ‘hard wash’

edit- some have no suffix at all, just SC419**

The label is sewn into the jeans at manufacture, maybe with the intention of hardwash, onewash or raw but this doesn't transpire to the washing / finishing process.. so don't assume any SC suffix as gospel.

Here we go. SC1966 New pair (34x 34) vs old pair (33 x 34). Same tags and both should be one washed (even though the seller said raw for the new pair).

Lovely pair! Looks quite similar to mine. Love the dirty blue color they acquire over time, gives them a real vintagey-feel. They are one wash but I saw some extra shrinkage with mine, maybe 2 cm in length and they slimmed up a bit around the leg.
