Hi all, just wanted to take a minute to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, most of all good health! These days people don't spend much time or thought on some personal words to their friends and family, they just copy and paste some random message and send it on. So after all we've been though together this year I want to thank you for your friendship and wish you a happy and fulfilling 2018 - you’re the best knitting forum anyone could ask for. Best wishes, Linda xxx

Love you, Karen x

Sober here too! Going on 2.5 years now!

Mad respect for anyone else taking that plunge.

As above, I never considered myself to be a problematic drinker, though some of those close to me were, and I could see myself going that way. It also brought me nothing positive when I looked at it objectively and with young children around I did not need the hangovers and associated physical and psychological symptoms.

I've occasionally tasted the odd bit, but am always overwhelmed at booze just tasting like, well, booze. It's fairly disgusting.

I have a really great alcohol free beer shop near to me that keeps me stocked up on unnecessary expensive drinks for now.

I was never much of a drinker - seeing that in your extended family growing up can do that to a person, coupled with either being blessed or cursed with low tolerance. (I consider it a blessing)

But we've got a lot of NA options now too which is great for some people I know, and myself, honestly, as I'll choose NA probably 60-70% of the time. But yea, the price of those things is bananas! Still, I'm glad to see more options that really do make the social occasions easier for so many.

Coffee, now I have a more contentious relationship with that drug.

@smoothsailor it has been a real life changer for me. I was quite a heavy drinker and didn’t like that being the image my kids saw daily from me.
Also I didn’t realize until I quit how much I was using it to self medicate and take the edge off daily situations or to deal with heavy stress of family gatherings.

My old man drank himself to an early grave, keeps me very aware of my consumption levels. Funny how 30+ years ago my family wanted to disown me for weed but sustained heavy drinking was absolutely normal!

I guess we normalize it. And for the next generation it becomes normal to.

good that you changed it

Having a tidy up to sort my work room out so I can actually work in it not just dump stuff. Found some Sufu linked relics in one box of treasures.

Yes. Russell. I spoke with him on Denimbro & asked him to make something for me. Unfortunately he didn't have the time to take it on.

I think it was only for the contest. 20 pairs. The hand written note had an apology for them taking so long, think he was a busy guy.

I loved my pair, look forward to fitting them again soon. First bike ride of 'I will fit my old clothes again' done today.

Other Denimbro thing I found is a LVC bandana I won for writing something to go with a photo or something.

1 year off work, being creative and riding my bike. I might be more active round here too.

A year off work!? How will the kids cope without you?

I got one of those LVC bandanas too.. cream and red with a bowling ball hitting a set of pins :)

Anyone remember that English guy from DB.. he contributed a lot to the Circle A thread, from Tyne & Wear, worked for a brewery, rode a scooter, he was a really nice guy, migrated over here then disappeared soon after.

I may have given my contact details to some of them, just incase they need me.
I’m going to miss them more than they miss me though probably.

He ran a kickstarter that was successful, however he didn’t allow for the tax due on the revenue generated. As a result many peoples orders went unfulfilled, including mine.
He then had some health issues and shut the brand down.
