(not so) fun fact: Nearly every single person talking shit in that post is from Indonesia or Singapore, every single one...

Long time no log in… I moved from the UK to South Carolina earlier this year, spent 7 weeks in Japan in between and now settling into southern life.

Love the cars! I'm really into older cars, I recently picked up a mid 90s Oldsmobile wagon with low mileage in great condition, and just love it. Not nearly as old school as these cars of course, but the design dates from the mid-80s.

I'd love to own a big ridiculous cozy mid-60s to mid-70s land yacht like the one in the first pic someday. I really like Oldsmobile, Buick, Mercury, the mid-level luxury American cars.

That’s Pontiac GTO by the way

There’s always been a part of the whole…online milieu…that’s been a really weird and uncomfortable seeming bunch. Take a few wrong turns down various denim adjacent rabbit holes (nostalgia, for instance) and you can end up in some bad places.

Question regarding vintage Levi's 501s:

Did the seams really pucker so much like they do on Japanese repros?

I am wearing my CSF right now and was astonished about the amount of puckering on my front pocket seams.
Didn't really notice this on vintage 501s so far.

No mate, It's just the usual artistic license.

Just came back from watching the Bikeriders movie.  Pretty good.  Not gonna post spoilers.  Matt Codina from Codina Leather made belts for Tom Hardy in the movie.

@mlwdp Do they really (still) charge this:

Quote

10 % of the total amount paid to the shop (item price + Japanese/Domestic shipping fee) will be charged as a commission for purchasing.
*In some shops, you may not be charged for campaigns.

With FromJapan you pay 300 Yen as a fee and that's it.

I know some shops work together with Worldshopping or Buyee and make it quite convinient but yeah, these days a 10% fee is really too much for with so many cheaper options.

From what I remember, WS charges the same thing however they can do in store purchases as well. Don’t recall if Buyee or Fromjapan can do that.

A few months ago, Buyee stopped charging any package consolidation fee, which has been a great improvement (even though the fee was never huge to begin with). Now it’s easy to just wait until I have 3–4 things in their warehouse then bundle them together; international shipping has been much cheaper this way

You mean physically walking into a store to buy the item? Don't know but how often do you need that?

Yeah but I’ve never personally tried that type of service yet.  They claim if the item in the physical store is out of stock during purchase, they’ll refund or you can get a different style.  You have to tell them which alternate style you want though if still interested.  It’s in the order form option.  I’ve wanted some exclusive Phigvel collaborations that were available in-store only not online but never pulled the trigger yet.

I’ve seen some stores, mostly advertising on Instagram, who do not ship at all and only sell out of their physical store regarding brand collaborations etc.

Continuing from above... I heard from @Double 0 Soul... he's doing well... albeit 'elbows deep' in house renovations and work which has left him zero time for online socialising... I think that means we can expect he'll have a few stories (and pics) to share when he returns...

@mlwdpHodism made a bunch of clothes for the film as well. Hardy is wearing the brander jacket throughout and the film and I think he made some of the jeans Butler is wearing

He'd just made some very cool loomstate jeans last time I visited him.
I got the impression you were getting a pair of those, Shredwin?

@CSL I had a sample pair of them and when I had them shipped to him for repairs that was last I saw them prolly six months ago.
I was talking to Mike daily for months and then all of the sudden he just completely stoppped all communication. No replies to my calls or texts. so I don’t know what’s going on with him.
A bummer but I’ll just stick with supporting Freewheelers now. Haha

Oh dear! Sorry to hear that Shredwin. Hopefully it's not some sort of emergency on Mike's part. I can't imagine him stopping communication like that unless it was something serious.

I was considering a jeans/jacket combo in that fabric, but got cold feet, thinking about the pile of denim already existing on my closet.

Of course in the meantime I've bought more jeans/jackets...

Someone explain to me why after size 36 every size is two sizes up instead of one. How come no manufacturers make a size 37 or 39? After 36 sizing goes to 38 and then 40 and so on.

Less demand, less inventory to keep in stock, designers think at a certain size one inch more or less don't matter so much anymore...all possible reasons.

I only know some smaller brands offering W37 and so (Ooe, CSF did, rebuilt.jp,)
