can you share the measurements before and after the soak?  by big measure

I did not take measurements before (because there's no point imo)

But here are the measurements after (size L - 42)

Chest : 56cm - 22in

Bottom : 52cm - 20.5in

Lenght : 60cm - 23.5in

Arms : 60cm - 23.5in

Made in Japan

It is really boxy, I would call it vintage fit (kind of baggy arms)

So it's pretty confortable and you can layer effortlessly (I'm 5'11 - 170lbs, with a big chest)

I know LVC were quite proud of having denim milled specifically to match the era of the model. Would the jeans from 1963 have been made from the same denim as those from either the mid-50s or the mid-60s or would they have used something different and unique to them? If the latter, then it seems unlikely there would have been anything made specifically for a 1963 model, given Cone closed down a few years back so they’re likely using some fabric bolts made for the 55 or 66 models.

Probably some 60s denim? And I don't think that price is really that "great" :D

A BigE model is definitely interesting to me lately

Edit: description says 1960s denim

^ this… €420 yikes! They say made in Japan but do not say where the denim was manufactured explicitly

Thanks… I’d clearly switched off by then

Seems like LVC are basically eking out their deadstock Cone denim stash (who knows how much they have?) and using it for various ‘new’/limited/special edition overpriced models…

You either got a load of money so the price doesn’t matter or your a bit daft to pay that which is a shame

Anyone else heard rumours about LVC shutting down after next season? Not sure if this is true.

Those whispers can be found in the LVC thread on the ghost ship Denimbro.

Yeah but seems more than a rumour from what I read. Anyway LVC does not have much good things to offer if you compare them to the Japanese repro brands. Gone are the days of Cone Denim and the Sawtooth and Sunset shirts (those were great). They might blend it in with the main line, who knows. Time will tell.

I am giving the 502-0117 Big Es that I got 12 months ago, an airing today. They have softened up greatly with wear and the 50+ year old denim has a certain nice slubiness about it.IMG_20221013_0835559.thumb.jpg.9a02e7f57f7697d4f7b41313d65961bc.jpg

Yes. They are pre 1971 selvedge unsanforized and shrink to fit. The pics were posted on 19th October 2021 on Page 748.

That’s a nice pair you’ve got! Cool that it’s your size. I’ve got a 605-0217 in that same font style, sadly too small for me. Great denim. So we have two fabric types here (both selvedge):

0117 Shrink to fit

0217 Pre-Shrunk

^ Thanks for the comparison! Too bad LVC put an R on that red tab. Out of curiosity: what’s the stitching on the LVC, poly or cotton?

You mean the stitching one the pocket? It is cotton for the paper tag

I think he's asking whether the jacket has been stitched together with polyester thread?

Yep, that’s what I meant! :) Interesting, I had a S506xx Valencia street and it was poly stitched, found that peculiar.

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.

Levi's Engineered has some center patch jeans as well, though I'm really trying to find more of the white patch pairs.
