Levi's Vintage Clothing

You can still find MiUSA LVC if you look hard enough, they just cost a bit more than they used to.

^ Yeah :( , I feel like that ship has sailed though and would rather just be wearing Japanese repros at this point for just a fraction of the cost. Levi's will always hold a special place in my heart though as Paul T's enthusiasm for them way back when was what really got me into them.

@MoreCoffeePlease you can still find made in the USA versions on eBay and yahoo Japan. You’re going to pay through the nose for new with the tags, but slightly worn ones are still very reasonable.

@Robroy Isn't that a MiJ pair? The valencia St MiU's, for example, are pricy even when worn. Some models of unworn pairs in desired sizes are $600 USD, some models about $250-300, others more like $1000...

Random anecdote, but I remember seeing a test pair of Valencia's at the Alameda, thrifting a few years back. Should've picked them up, I think they were asking $100 for them at the time

you can still find plenty or worn in examples if you fancy a bargain.. with that many pairs I have no I don't mind if someone else has put in some work before me, as long as the fades are decent, no phone fades etc. I also saw these what the sellers says he bought 30 years ago and appear to be 1947 originals. pretty boring fade though. washed far too much likely. but exactly the kind of pair Kurt Cobain might have thrifted in the 80s. always wore 501s.

Poly stitching , and the arc shape is the same one used by lvc , maybe its changed now but they used that shape for a long time on the 47

so I am guessing that he has tried to remove the care tags then which you can only do so much and should be some remains of, and I'm guessing he would not want to show me the jeans inside out..

here is the button. possibly the number has been sanded off? I asked to see the inside of the jeans and he said they are packed and ready to ship.

@JMS yeah they are my bad.

another example, this one made in the USA, looks like they’re maybe washed but a few times if at all, for basically what you would have paid for them new at the time.

update: the seller says if there is any doubt they are not genuine he is removing the sale of these, he has taken photos of the inside.

personally I can’t see anything amiss with them.

They are so obviously 100000% not vintage '47-52 Levis. Everything from the fabric to the threads to the pocket shapes to the selvage ID is a dead giveaway. Not being an ass but definitely put some time in looking at actual vintage (check out Marvin's, Berberjin, The 501XX Reference book, etc.) and it'll be more evident with experience/time. Someone had a good time with an old pair of LVC, but that's all they are.

Something I've been wondering for years: How do people repair the pocket using a sewing machine?

I repair all my jeans myself, but still haven't figured out this trick.

as @Thanks_M8 mentioned - the pockets were removed, repaired, and then sewn back on.  Probably not worth it TBH - every other pair I have just hand-mended the pockets

On the topic of Japanese-made Levi's, can any fans comment on the quality of denim and construction, compared to well-respected Japanese brands?

How does the quality of the MIJ pairs compare to those from USA?

The chunkiness of the zip pull (on my Superdry Travis skinny stretch jeans) so reminds me of the Scovill zip pull on my first pair of Levis.

So where does this long type II rank amongst ugliest things LVC have ever produced? :blink2:
I know there were some real eyesores in the past, but boy do I sure despise this.
Are there vintage examples of long type II jackets? I've never seen anything like it personally but I'm no expert.

That would fit his elongated body like a standard Type II, though the arms might be a bit short.

This can be yours for a cool $395. :blink2:

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
