1954 501's 20% off on levis UK.. only the "new rinse" and "fidget" pre washes though. WHY is it more expensive for jeans which have had literally nothing done to them as opposed ones which haven't? can somebody explain this... I mean I know the prewashed ones are made in Turkey or somewhere but they all start out from raw denim.... how can it be profitable to put more effort and resources into prewashed jeans which nobody wants, look fake and awful, and are always the ones in the sale or the cheap sellers on ebay? why not just sell raw?

my favourites are the 1955s and the 1933s. I like the wide fit of those jeans. my 1955's are a 30W (my usual size) but they were a W31, my 1890s ended up a little too skinny for my liking. my 1955s in a size a little large, and a wide leg, turned me onto more roomy jeans. and the thing with the massive 1944's taught me that its alright if the jeans are an inch or too bigger. so no more buying W30 for me... those modern ones I got just before I got into raw denim and vintage style jeans so I don't wear them, and those 2006 ones are just a relic in my drawer from my college days..

I've just got the 1944's sent back to me. seller is messing me about I think. claims she moved house. I had to open a case just to get a refund. keeps bugging me saying have I got the jeans back for about a week. what a fiasco. anyway... I contacted ebay and they said I don't have to return them again.. so free jeans I think I will follow with a collection photo Jan. 25 : You provided tracking information for return Jan. 22 : A return request was initiated Jan. 22 : Case opened Comments these jeans were advertised as a rare model Valencia street san fransico USA levi s. but there are certain giveaways, upon seeing the jeans in person, lead me to believe these jeans have had their inner label swapped. also, the crotch was in need of repair. these appear to be Bulgarian made jeans, not american. I can provide more details if necessary. Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Good luck next time look at the pictures and ask questions before you buy, thanks Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Yes do that, thanks Jan. 17 : You sent a message Comments attached is photo of another pair of my jeans, also a 34 leg. look how much longer yours are. I will open a case if you will not refund. Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments No holes just repair, cant really see what the tape says, but i don't see anything wrong with my description of these, thanks Jan. 17 : You sent a message Comments 2 photos attached, one of hole in crotch and one of waist measurement, which is 16.5 laid flat = W33. these jeans are supposed to shrink down from 32 inches. size is wrong. Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Send me photos of waist measurement please, thanks Jan. 17 : You sent a message Comments did you even read what I said? the FIRST LABEL is your jeans. the SECOND picture is how the label SHOULD be. Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Second label is not my jeans!! Jan. 17 : You sent a message Comments I have shown you the label. either these are 701 ladies jeans or they are not "rare 555" jeans Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Not ladies jeans, please take picture of labels, Jan. 17 : You sent a message Comments 701 are ladies jeans. the inner tag says 44701. it should say 44501 as they are supposed to be 501s. nothing about these jeans makes any sense, also they don't fit and the crotch damage is much more serious than shown in the pictures and needs repairing. there is a hole in the crotch. the first picture attached is the label from these jeans. they read 44701 etc. the second is from another pair of 1944 501s, and they correctly read 44501. 701 denotes that that label came from a pair of ladies levis (701) what they are doing on a pair of 501's I don't know, but the sizing is all wrong and this leads me to believe that these are not 555 (valencia st) jeans. apart from the fact they don't fit and the crotch needs repair, is enough to warrant a return. Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Also no 701 tag! They are a rare pairof lvc levis capital E Jan. 17 : The seller sent you a message Comments Dont know what the problem is took plenty of photos of labels etc. Jan. 17 : You requested a return Comments these appear to a pair of Frankenstein jeans.. they are a 33 inch waist.. way too big for me, they were supposed to be unsanforized and would have shrank to at least 31".. these are huge and even longer in the legs.. they are like 35" legs, which should have shrank around 3 inches to a 32". then I realised the inner tag says 701, so it appears as though the tag has been taken from a pair ladies 701 jeans for some reason. which explain as to why the sizing is different.

the jeans shrunk as planned.. love the colour on these. The previous owner bought a size 34 leg and then hemmed them (why) so I stretched the hell out of them and hung them upside down in the airing cupboard and managed to claw back an inch so I could keep the cuffs. Hardly any fading for what was apparently a years worth of wear.. so I used a minimum of Mr. Black and tub washed them at 40°c for an hour with some mild. agitation. Lost little to no indigo. pleased with the result.. these are certainly the “cowboy jeans” In my collection now. before fit, wash, dry, after:

1996 deadstock 555s just sold for £240.. therefore new LVC should be £170, no more.

That was my thinking, though maybe not the washing machine.. I’ll have a look at the fades and probably tub wash them at 40°.c

just bought some 1933 501s now.. These ones are raw but have been worn for “about a year” says the seller. I decided to size up 2 inches on the waist so these will shrink down to my usual size (30”) as my taste has shifted to more roomy jeans (thanks to the 1955s). Does anyone have experience with shrinking jeans that have been worn for a year, will they still shrink normally? Any advice, keeping in mind I need them to shrink some, but will be ok with a belt (those suspender buttons may have to go).. or maybe I’ll get them taken in, always an option.

It says they were transitioning yes. But it didn’t actually confirm if this model had selvage or not. They should have made it clear, not other sites.

I just realised that the 1984 jeans were in fact selvage. I assumed they weren’t, because of the wording in the description. Is it any wonder, with wording like this? An exact reproduction of a pair of 501® jeans from the early '80s During this time, Levi's® was transitioning from selvedge to non-selvedge denim Made with our classic straight leg and button fly Twin needle Arcuate no mention of selvage. Great wording, geniuses. That annoyed me because I would have bought a pair at the sale price but now my size is sold out.

Maybe you can give this a go.. from Aero Leathers website: The Savile Tweed Suit Method This was a old favourite with the aristocracy when they still had estates, on taking delivery of a new Savile Row tweed suit, the Lords Of The Manor would give it to his gardener to wear for a couple of months so he could knock the newness out of it. His lordship then reclaimed the suit and wore it until it got too shabby for his tastes at which point, he gave it back to the gardener as a "keeper". This is a great method for breaking in a Horsehide jacket but does have a couple of minor drawbacks. Firstly this involves hiring a gardener that's the right size, and secondly, hiring one who is not going to abscond the second he gets a new Aero on his back.

I was just thinking.. are LVC really worth it anymore? £210 for the SAME Kaihara denim that Lee is using.. only Lee raw selvage jeans are £140. You can even get their new 21oz monsters for £140- £60 off the rrp of £200 on the Lee website. And you can always find bargain new with tags on eBay too. I got these Lee 101z lot 49s for £90. I love them. Also no messing around with shrinkage, and the unpredictability of the new Kaihara shrinkage. 202 days, one tub wash with Mr. Black at six months.

I watched a pair of cone 1955's from about 2013 sell for £210,(auction) which is the same as what they are now selling them new for on levis.com. the whole thing reeks of greed. don't pay any more than what's fair.
