Sorry for the lack of posts lately, things are very busy personally and with Tender- it feels like forever, but we've still only been in the US five months! Thank you so much @julian-wolf @chicote and @clawbytes for fantastic photos. More things coming, but in case it's of interest to anyone, I'm doing a project with students at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and will be doing a public talk on Tuesday Feb 4th at 3.30 Central Time. It'll be livestreamed and there's a signup here: https://cdmc.wisc.edu/event/understandable-design-and-perfect-imperfections-with-william-kroll-of-tender-co/ I'm putting together a bunch of Tender garments and my own things, which I'll show and discuss. Hopefully it'll be interesting!3 points

Very very frigid today so I'm bunded up inside. It's 0°f/ -17c outside right now and Hell has actually frozen over in the United States. To those of you living in other parts of the world, please keep a close eye on us. Things are about to get downright sketchy. Multiple friends working in or for multiple three letter agencies have privately cautioned to keep our eyes and ears open. Stay safe Sufu. Further reminder that this denim hobby is a slow game (not that we need it) The reason the worn-in pic looks totally staged is because it is 😃 My 'photographer' teenage son landed a massive fluke, I mean deliberate picture with near identical foot position and jacket bluster due to the right to left wind in the park (no, it's not a trial for Instagram 😉 and no idea what app you use to collate 2 pictures)!! Same kit, except the jeans have been hemmed and the chambray is different Oh and the people on the bench... they'd gone and we couldn't find them 3 years (and a bit) apart, Dec 2021 to Jan 2025... slow game indeed... OK ok I hear you... I'll go back to standing in front of a wall again next time 😉2 points

Quick update on my 132D, which are still pretty filthy after their first machine wash in a few months … it’s interesting how different the colour is coming out compared to my previous Tender jeans, all of which were washed biweekly at least throughout their life cycle. These have probably five months of wear now.2 points

Late to the Tender party - learned about this brand a few weeks ago. Got a pair of saddened wattle dyed 136 jeans from neighbour. Bill was super responsive to some of my questions on ig 😌 Rare to see this level of customer engagement. Some wears and washes later, the color’s setting in really nicely and the lovely marbling is starting to show.2 points

Checking in with pre/post and initial thoughts. I really like these jeans and cut. The roping is top notch. I’m still tripping out on the denim pockets bags It’s a weird feeling, but will only get better with wear. I didn’t get as much shrink in the waist as I wanted with the first wash, so I ran them through again as well as a trip through the dryer. Think we’re fully shrunk now - waist snug, but has loosened to what I was wanting and inseam hit requested post-shrink exactly. I ended up with some marbling with the initial soak/wash/hang dry that was probably intensified with the second wash/dryer. My typical machine wash/dry usually doesn’t marble like this, but it did this time. No worries - I’m choosing to see the squiggles as ‘freshly grated mozzarella’ for my pizza pants. Pre Post initial wash, hang dry1 point

remember back in the olden days when sufu was like the wild west and people used sarcasm brackets so people didnt get confuddled by tone, it was great (4)1 point

Mostly shelving my 001’s for now, but still a lot of life left in the them. Probably close to a good year of wear at this point with quite a few washes and one or two tumble dries. The denim felt fairly crispy up until the first wash, at which point it just totally softened up and any honeycomb creases were essentially gone. Great jeans.1 point

My girlfriend got me the Flat Head FN-OJ-D102 blanket lined jacket while we were in Japan. I previously had the Momotaro x Okayama Denim "Frost" type II blanket lined jacket and never liked how it fit. I put this one on in the Jingumae shop and fell in love, fits absolutely perfect. I've been wearing it almost every day since November, its been nice since we've had a dry & cold winter in the Pacific Northwest. Only gripe is no side pockets but I can get over that, I've been wearing gloves instead1 point

Also not sure this all will count as "iconic", but my mom got a film scanner for Christmas last year and scanned a ton of my grandpas old family photos. A few stood out to me where they were wearing some beautiful blue jeans. This was Wyoming in the early 50s. I mentioned to my grandpa how much those old jeans were worth and he laughed, mentioned how much he hated wearing shrink to fits because his mom would always get him and his brother the same size no matter what size they needed. See: picture two, top buttons looking a little tight...1 point

Bad experience with Marrkt today. Pair of Real Mccoys jeans popped up on the site this week, I know their jeans get slated here but it's an itch from years back so I thought why not. Marrkt had them listed as very good condition and one product image showed a heavy crease and bit of fading to the rear of one leg. I reached out via live chat to see how bad the fading was (the jeans are still really dark, with no visible wear). They were helpful and actually went to physically check the pair for me. Came back and said crease will iron out and there's was a bit of fading that would be unnoticeable with a bit of wear..... They arrived today and basically the jeans are f**ked. The crease on the back of the leg is @ 8 inches long and has significant fading the entire length of the crease. Both legs, inseam and outseam have sharp creasing and pretty heavy fading running from waistband/crotch to hem. Looks like they have been soaked and then folded wet and left like that. Pretty pissed off with their product description and having to pay shipping and returns!1 point
