Denim is lighter than the regular Deep Indigo for the jeans - also less slubby, but still with enough character.

Fit is closer to a type 3, which works for me just fine.

I'm a bit puzzled here so I am reaching out. I bought an LVC Type 3 1967 jacket off eBay. The seller is not new, has lots of sales (almost 100% positive feedback) and no claims of counterfeit products. After I got the jacket I became curious about a couple of things. Everything I describe should be visible in the photos.

  • The red tab is much wider than any other red tab I've ever owned
  • This 1967 red tab is only 1 sided
  • The white tag sewn on the inside of the waist says Levi's, (not LVC and without the silver thread I have known on my other LVC products.)
  • When I emailed LVC directly about #3 (with the photos of both sides of the white tag) they responded saying "this would not be an LVC product based on the tag."

Pictures:

These are my thoughts/rationalizations:

  • I thought maybe someone in the factory made a mistake and cut & sewed it on too wide.
  • Perhaps this was a mistake of the last "LEVI's" printed on that ribbon of red tabs. Like when you print a piece of paper, there is a margin, perhaps I got the last "LEVI'S" and then the other side is just the margin?
  • I did some searching about "the Levi's tag on LVC products" and read that some LVC products made for sale in Levi's stores (most likely in 2007-2008) had been made with Levi's tags. This jacket came with a mini pamphlet saying Fall 2007. Maybe that fits, if that info is indeed correct. See link at bottom under EXTRA INFO.
  • Maybe some newbie over at LVC just saw the picture I sent and said, "well it says Levi's not LVC" so..."it's not LVC based on the tag."

I am wondering if anyone can help me find out if the things I've noticed are just mistakes, hopefully rare ones that just came together nicely on my jacket? Or is this a dreaded counterfeit jacket? I really would appreciate any help/leads/new ideas anyone could contribute. And a preemptive thank you for the time anyone spends helping me on this.

EXTRA INFO

-The buttons are imprinted with an R-supposed to be Taylor Togs I believe.

-post talking about other LVC products with Levi's tag:  http://supertalk.sup...othing/page-115

-If this jacket is a fake, then it would be a very good one

I think you might be a bit obsessed here. FWIW I don't think it's a fake, it just shows what happens when you outsource production of your "Brand" to so many different third party manufacturers, you get inconsistencies.

Unless you paid a bazillion bucks for it I wouldn't worry about it, not to mention putting the exact same post in two different threads.

Got a Joe McCoy’s lot 924 while I was in BKK. Any experience with the shrinkage on this guy's? Between my very limited thai and his little English the guy in the store said to expect a half size of shrinkage? Pre soak pics below fit pics to follow post soak, just phone pictures at the moment

I'm on a blog for pants. Just that qualifies me as obsessed.

I've found there is little info out there for Levi's Jackets. I mean the best source is some 1997 GeoCities looking website(which is actually a great, informative site.) But sometimes I'd kind of like to compile some better info. If not anywhere but in my head.

Just received a Lee 101J jacket, I ordered TTS because I wanted that classic snug/short fit - so far the fit is spot on, the length (or rather, "shorth") might need some getting used to but shoulders and chest fit great. Now, the tags say that it will shrink up to a full size, which is the first I'm hearing about this with this jacket, I was 100% sure the denim was sanforized... anyone know if this is just a generic blurb on the tag or if it really will shrink that much? If it's only the sleeves that might shrink I'd be ok with it, though :D

Edit: after trying it on some more I'm really unsure about the fit... how snug exactly do you guys wear your denim jackets? I'm ok in the jacket with just a t-shirt (tucked here for showing length of the jacket), but I can't really move my arms once I put on a shirt over the t-shirt...

Cucoo, I think that fit currently looks great if you're going for a classic fit with just a t-shirt. For me, I need full mobility of my arms. If I can't hug myself, it's too small. My real concern is that if it shrinks at all it's going to be too small. Keep us posted!

edit: to reaffirm the classic fit check out how Steve McQueen wore the 101. Very similar fit to yours. Also, chest hair.

:D Thanks, that McQueen pic is what gives me peace of mind, too ;) BUT, I'll still see if I can exchange it for one size up. I'm still afraid of a bit of shrinkage, which would make it a matador jacket on me, and since I'm no Banderas in "Desperado" I'm quite sure I couldn't pull that off ;) One size up will give me around 1 inch in all directions, I'm hoping it'll be enough. Considering the climate I live in I don't have real use for a denim jacket that only allows one layer under it - I want to wear the jacket not only on chilly summer days.

TCB 50's jacket, worn daily since November 15th 2013 (I think I have missed no more than 10 days). I just threw it in the washing machine for the first wash as it just started to smell funny.. After wash pics tomorrow..

Thks Bobbo, it's definitely one of my favorite pieces. Oddly enough I haven't seen much evo on it for all the time I wore it as a layer under heavier coats, and then suddenly as I started to wear it as a outer jacket it started to fade quite fast. I think it will look better after a wash..

Beautiful, it's the same zim cotton used for the TCB 50's jeans, nice hairy irregular - but not too much - and dripping full of natural indigo. At some point I will have to get the 50's cut too just because of that wonderful denim!

I've been looking for a denim jacket for quite a while, and tried some different ones without any luck. Currently I'm eyeing the Nudie Perry selvage, thinking it might fit my figure.

However, it's only 13.5 oz, and I guess this would be considered on the lighter side? Maybe too loght for a jacket?

Any advice on other options on fairly slim cut jackets?
