  1. Happy Jeans - Tcb 20s contest thread

hello everyone! time to open this thread. We're programming a new TCB contest, this time it will be focused on the TCB 20s cut only. The sponsor of the contest will be our own @edmond and Regiment Store in Manila. Start date: sept 1st 2017 End date: march 1st 2019 Preorder deadline: july 15th 2017 Cost: USD 245, shipping included, hemming included if needed (done by TCB) Customization: it's possible to order the jeans without suspender buttons (they don't make much of a difference as far as comfort when wearing a belt, though) Payment: it's possible that payment will be via credit card only, no paypal. More details about it later... Prizes: thanks to the Asian Charles Bronson & Regiment store we'll have perhaps the most generous prize line up I've ever seen in a contest. 1st Prize = 1 jacket 1 pants 2nd prize = 1 jacket 3rd price = 1 pants 4th prize = newspaper bag 5th prize = hat or cap All TCB products! TCB 20s Replica of a 1922 pair of Levi's 501 from Hajime Inoue's personal collection. typical details of a 1920's pair of jeans, straight cut, cinchback, exposed back pocket rivets, crotch rivet, suspender buttons, iron buttons that will rust over time. Fabric: 8x8 Memphis cotton denim, 12.5 oz weight. Superb fabric, I must say! Special details, only for the contest pair custom patch, designed in Italy special pocket bag fabric, selvedge indigo duck fabric weaved on old looms. Inoue's own words: "indigo canvas can also enjoy discoloration" custom arcs, designed by Inoue, I have no pictures yet of the arcs design, but it'll be something that could be partially unpicked to reveal "proper" arcs waistband chainstitch runoff

2nd hand is more than ok. Vintage is fine but I'm not that knowledgeable myself so must find a trustable seller. Not keen on watches over 40 mm size, although have big wrists and arms so they don't look bad. budget small let's say 250 euros or around it.

potential rabbit hole of a thread if ever there was one (or 3, or a million) on sufu. not much funds here (my new work contract enthusiasm put me and the wife on a terrific shopping spree last month, just received a fabolous credit card bill!) but I've always wanted to buy a flieger myself as a 4th watch for my little collection. Time to seek what I want. so watch illuminati, enlighten me with suggestions. My needs are: no quartz movement (I just hate the idea, forgive me, I know it's not a sacrilege at all), excellent value for money (!). merci

^^ yeah I guess the back rise of the 60s it's not for everybody. Works fine for me but I can see with some body frames it's just too short. I'd say the cut would be more appreciated (at least outside of Japan) with a bit more front and rear rise, and a bit more taper.

^ looking good @mandel9000 re belt loops IIRC Inoue told me it's a lighter denim. I spent a beautiful morning with my girls in a nearby little city called Albenga, a place that I like very much. Brought the missus to do some shopping in one of her favourite clothes shops. Couple pics from the morning. peasant farmers market Morning ended gloriously with a lunch in oine of my favourite places spectacular farinata and a even more spectacular fresh and local fritto misto, with baby shrimps from Oneglia Happy Volvo jeans

Welcome aboard! Sanforizedson from IG, is it you?
  17. TCB

I hardly doubt he changed. I'd love to have a chance to handle an original pair of 50's 501xx to compare it with my own pair of 50s, from pictures my TCB's looks very much like an original now that it's worn and abused.
  18. TCB

Feck, did Inoue change the denim on these jeans or I'm just an amateur fader? I remember the first 9 months of wear my 50s were SLOOOOW to show any progress. The last two pairs posted are ridicolous!

^^ wonderful fit @erk, and the slightly warped perspective makes you look like a giant ; ) You don't look much like him, but between your surroundings and the fact that you're tall and lean your pics makes me often remind about the main character of Paterson, the movie. Where did you leave the bus? and the poetry notebook? Seriously though, perfect "lean" fit, perfect inseam length, I'd be very happy about that fit if I were you. my pair is still awaiting to be washed... everybody sick at home, I'm working like a slave, yada yada yada. I may have to wait til sat morning and a quick trip to the laundromat to slip back in the 20s. it's been pissing raining since sunday night, almost finished my underwear changes, the situation looks desperate!

The general consensus in them is that they're stubborn to fade! I think the direct sunlight highlights fades a lot. Anyhoo that's very very promising @cottonskinblues

I've just bought a cheapo new stereo for myself, after a massive blackout fucked up my old Marantz amplifier and Pioneer cd player. Unfortunately today's finances are not the same my dad had when he bought me that setup 20 yrs ago. I bought a Auna set up under suggestion of an audiophile friend who knows I'd rather spend on jeans! Really good for the price. That's the amplifier CD508, works a charm with my old big Bose speakers (which are the only part of the hifi that the blackout didn't fuck up, even the lp player is gone...). sorry for OT, you all know how keen your friend volvo is for general bang for the buck discussions so I had to share one of my cheapskate finds.
