Shoes that look better with age...

^ That's pretty. Great pick up.

Here are my R.M. Williams custom boots in camel. 5 years. 1 resole.

They are my favourite shoes. More so than White's, Alden, Tricker's, Viberg's, etc.

Camel is so much tougher than cattlehide and even horsehide. Incredible really.

By the way, RM Williams custom cost has gone up heaps since being bought by Loius Vuitton - $800 AUD base price now!!!

Those look fantastic Mike. I've always loved the way RM Williams looked but have been too afraid to buy - never being sure of how to size and having had so much trouble with sizing in the past. I'll be going to NYC next month, maybe I'll swing by the RM williams store and see if they can help me. Its a shame about the custom cost; how custom is RMs custom? is it just leather selection or do they do foot tracings etc...

edit: nevermind - the NYC store is closed forever. What the hell...

^ Now that LV is in charge, I'm sure they'll have a store in NYC again.

Their customisation is limited to aesthetics, leather and shoe width (2 to 3 different widths to choose from). Custom lasting is not an option.

You can play around on their website. A boot done in salt water croc is $4000.

Guys I need some suggestions for a decent recraftable Oxford that I can wear in a biz casual environment, so nothing extremely fancy. I gotta have width options, however I'm not able to spring for something as pricey as an Alden, and I think I've read that AE sizing and quality can be spotty. Any other options?

AE isn't too bad at all honestly especially if you're not gonna wear them too often. Their customer service is also excellent so if there's a problem just hit them up and they take care of you.

But yeah, if you're not in the normal width that's pretty restricting unless you go with a MTO route. How big do you need to go?

Also give ebay and grailed a look through if you don't mind used. Carminas, trickers, alfred sargent, etc in varying sizes can be had for cheap.

This is actually going to be pretty daily(office job) but they won't get much walking use sitting at a desk most of the time. Id thought about some trickers via grained etc but have no idea about their lasts. Im a 10ee on brannock and looking for something with a rounder, less pointy profile.

SJ - here's maybe a controversial suggestion;

Heddels had a post on them a while ago. Made in China and a direct knock off of Alden PTB. Apparently the last is also a knock off of the Tru Balance last. Personally, I don't have any issues with them, I think they look great in pics, and am seriously considering a pair for myself. I'd buy these before AE.

Hello, any opinions on the Chippewa general utility service boots. How do they compare to Red Wings. Over here in Germany, they are about the same price wise.

Thanks in advance

if you can find them in the "Brown Bomber" leather, it is phenomenal. It is basically an oiled roughout. The "Chocolate Moss" suede looks good too. I've seen some very ugly creasing with their other smooth leathers.

It was brown (or burgundy?) buffalo... This was almost 4 years ago though.

I don't see the option anymore. Or was it a special requests?

I can't remember, best ask Baker's.

Just browsing Real McCoys' stuff and noticed their bear head boot available for a whopping 100k yen. Anyone know the big difference between Real McCoys' bear heads and Toys McCoy surveyors? To justify a 35k yen difference, anyway. Cosmetically very similar, is it the difference in leathers?
