I really don't blame people for not liking it. Some years ago, I didn't. You've got to have a certain predisposition for things that run slightly afoul of a perfect order and consistency that so many modern products strive for - and have space for that to not be a problem. Not the best analogy, but if someone told me the charm of a particular camera was that it light leaked on the last few frames of every roll (I have an old Rolleiflex that does this) and use it at as a sales point, I'd figure them trying to pass one over on me. Unless, of course, something had brought me to my own attitude adjustment over time where I could embrace such a thing - like I do with my camera now, but did not when I used it on magazine work - as part of the fun and unpredictability that you don't get with perfectly clinical, precise, reliable modern digital imaging. Fwiw, I certainly did notice it on my first jeans that had it - I'd look down and see the seam over my shoe and feel that everything was draping off kilter. It drove me nuts for awhile. Now I like it but that took time. TLDR I think understanding it and appreciating/embracing it are two different things.4 points

@frank Yes - thanks @CSL we'll send a reminder out when the final payment is due. Everyone will need to also give their Superfuture name, plus real name and address to Simone (in the PayPal payment if there free format text?) so he can make sure you all get the right jeans.3 points

@AlientoyWorkmachine I also try to collect one physical thing only, had a serious amount of cassette tapes but decided that vinyl was to be my one thing, looks cleaner in the shelves anyways. Important to keep the hoarding tendencies in check or else my stuff starts to own me lol3 points

I assume it's just added onto the second payment after he's finished with the jeans?2 points

@tooth @Broark thank you! That was helpful. I think that I will go with the s0001xx WW2 model unless I have a last minute change of heart, since that is Rocket's specialty and that was what I was going to get anyway before spotting the 37 model. It also helps that the WW2 model is ~$80-100 cheaper too, presumably due to the extra hardware. The 1937 model is described as "Tailor made" using a vintage sewing machine on the Rockets site, but it's hard to grasp how that is different than their WW2 models after reading the description and talking to Kato. A 1937 model can wait for another time and gives a good excuse at some future point to try the TCB 30s or the Freewheelers 37.2 points

Thanks. Noticed that, too. They are also looking into changing the overly wide fit of their XXL tees. I think a lot of Koreans have been buying FW and they are buying up the big sizes apparently. Also FW are selling more in germany apparently.2 points

Are we sending the $7 directly to Simone? I might need a reminder of the email address.1 point

You’re this close to being banned for that comment @Geeman 😂1 point

I like leg twist but if it bothered me that much I’d simply buy jeans which were less or not prone to it.1 point
-
It's such a non-issue too cos no one but the wearer is actually gonna ever notice, and if some stranger does notice it's because they're in the know and likely have an appreciation for it lol. Edit: in the time I spent typing this reply @willi said almost the exact same thing as me lol1 point

UPDATE: Measurements of the one wash 220XX-54 pair provided below Waist: 16" (half waist, laid flat) Thigh: 13" (at crotch) Front rise: 12" Back rise: 14" Knee: 10" Leg opening: 9" Inseam: 32" (Second pair may have been sent to me in error, Warehouse have requested I ship them back to them to check - and hopefully hem them 🤞)1 point

Overall, I don’t find anything particularly valuable in a leg twist. If it’s there, ok; if not, even better. For example, proper hemming with a rope effect is much more important—in fact, I would say it’s essential.1 point

Is cost the same? Doubt he’d do it, but if you really don’t care ask him to choose… think of the excitement and surprise upon receiving and opening!1 point

Yeah it's very reasonable for any non denim head to consider leg twist a flaw but it's not that reasonable to one to spend $1k on 3 pairs of jeans. One is clearly not buying normal Levi's one finds in any store, so it's on them to know what they are buying. Maybe it's just me but if I was considering buying a pair of Levi's that cost 3x a basic pair I'd spend just a little time learning about them1 point

Mepse is releasing a great looking 1954 XX cut and a type II jacket https://mepse.base.shop/?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAab5-ngxbl2KorrB7LPEWKLvdWuZzp7f0kXnP86LLEER1RHnkORBu0Gqg8c_aem_kr9szfe6odr3a2W4SwzsnQ1 point

Up for sale here is a pair of size 33 Warehouse DSB 1000xx (46 model) purchased from Hinoya back in 2022 and never got around to wearing. Decided I was gonna give them a shot and did an initial a warm wash, but turns out the cut isn’t quite right for me. I think I paid about $200 for them before the USD/Yen rate went crazy. Looking for $150 shipped in the US. Measurements: Waist - 33” Rise - 12.25” Inseam - 32”1 point

Same I gave away my entire collection which was mostly 90s punk and hip hop with some later electronic stuff sprinkled in. I ripped it all before I put it on a website called freecycle and an excited teenager came in a beat up el Camino to take it all. I think I made that gen z’ers day. sometimes I miss it but made a decision that photography books would be my primary physical collection - just didn’t have room for both.1 point

I’m sure they still have all the ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ series on UK Discogs Neal.1 point

@indigoeagle kinda made my buying this pair. And I'm not even mad about it. 601XX 1951 in W34. Same size as the 1947 I tried but wasn't so happy with the fit. These 1951 have a lower back rise and overall slimmer top block which I prefer (especially the lower rise). With the upcoming Word of Mouth contest these will see less wear but they are also a reason I listed some of my too slim fitting Denime jeans (221, 224 and 66) for sale.1 point

It seems like a really good jean, especially for folks who are turned off by usual TCB funkiness and just want something that looks classic and flattering. Almost doesn't feel like a TCB it's so straightforward, like TCB produced something for Warehouse. Pocket bags feel thin is the only caveat I'm noticing so far. I'm not sure if I love them yet because I like the weird stuff, but if I was tempted to retire from this hobby and walk away with 1 pair this would be a reasonable place to get off the train.1 point
