SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

^ Someone told me it's because the twisting tension on the yarn when hand dyeing in a big vat is much lower, so the dye penetrates deeper in the core???

Not sure how true this is, but it does make a bit of sense to me...

It's certainly the case that hank-dyed, natural indigo denims in general are a lot harder to fade than rope-dyed, synthetic. And generally, when they're unwashed or have only been soaked once, they're a lot more beautiful.

I'd like to see some great fades in this style of jean, there are too few out there to know for sure - my 555 1873 jeans used a beautiful Kurabo natural indigo, with lovely hue variation after one soak - but they looked pretty terrible and bland after a couple of washes. So my advice with these would really be to wash them less, rather than more.

Does anybody know where I can get add-on suspender buttons? Originals like LVC would be preferred...

Thanks.

I think the specialist LVC stores should have them. I plan on getting some from Cinch in London when I return to the UK next month.

If you don't have any luck, let me know.

I recently got some S003JP and after a hot soak and wash I decided I needed to get them hemmed. That went fine but I guess while I storing them until I could drive over to SE, I folded them and apparently it wasnt on the seam.

So basically now I have a fat ol crease an inch or so off my seam on both sides and its causing the pant leg to twist.

I tried to iron out the seam but it didnt really work that well and I would like to get rid of it before the creases set in and then I get some weird double striping going on with seams.

I hope that all made sense, but do I soak them again and iron out the crease or is there another way? I've already hot soaked and hot washed them for shrinkage but I feel like another soak so early would be kinda dumb (I've worn them after the hem for only 3-4 days).

to undo the crease a soak of the legs could be a solution...or ironing with steam

Ok I'll just soak it and iron it out. Should I just iron it so the inseam folds correctly or the outerseam? They dont both fold perfectly on each other, prob the way they shrunk..?

Thanks!

there perfect in the waist mate just big everywhere else

im thinking 30's because i dont realy like wearing jeans too tight in the thigh, as far as i can tell the 30's measure 32 pre soak and shrink to 30 , if i can get that shrinkage i would be happy , i know they will stretch but if they stay around 31.5 they will be ok

My waist is 29 and I fit well into a 28 STF 501. Can I do the same for the LVC '47 or should I go for 29 instead?

I prefer not to wear a belt.

Go for the 29, if you manage to find one, that is...

Thanks for any recommendations.

Damn, I think that the '47 might have a higher front rise than the 501 STF, so maybe I should go 28.

I've been patching up little spots in the crotch area on new cures. However its now become inefficient to patch up each new spot since they're appearing more often.

Should I pull out the seam ripper, remove all previous patches and then reinforce the crotch? Or attempted to reinforce the crotch with the patches still on the garment?

I'd leave the patches on if they aren't uncomfortable because removing them you may do more damage.

I was wondering if anyone could date this Levi's pullover I picked up today. My guess is from the 70s but someone could know better.

what makes you think that this is even a vintage piece?
