I wear my same size in desert boots as sneakers but that is due to my rather high instep. Length-wise I could probably size down half.

I've been wondering for some time. Are April77's overdrive raws actually raw/dry? Or are they overdyed indigo jeans? I mean, I don't think anyone has seen pictures of one that actually has fades, right?

If you have big thighs, go true to size. If you have skinny thighs you should size down. I guess it depends on what sort of fit you want, but if you have skinny hips and you don't want hip flare, size down until it fits your thighs.

Yes, april 77 joey overdrives are dry and you should not wash them for at least 6 months

my friends have pairs of them

and they get great fades

Do warp knots make denim less durable? i would think that since they're more exposed, they would be more likely to fray, especially in high wear areas like the seat, which would eventually lead to holes. Or is it nothing to worry about?

If you want it done properly, send it to Blue In Green in NYC (for chainstitching...see Denim Encyclopaedia for more info). Otherwise, just take to your tailor, or call a local retailer that sells decent denim to ask which tailor they use.
