I’m after a 36 waist 1955. Does anyone know any other online sites that stock LVC? I’ve tried:

Bears

Levis

Cultizm

by the way also junky style handle LVC (of course they are Made in Japan as in Rodeo store and also in Hinoya). In LVC line MiJ is inseam maximum L34 (around 87 cm, after couple of washes around 80cm). in case I compare MiUSA W34, size is in cm same as MiJ W36. In my collection I have BNWT almost all types of LVC MiUSA and couple of MiJ. MiUSA are all in size W34/L36 and MiJ in size W36/L34....

Cheers for this info. As I get older (larger) I’m finding the thigh/crotch is becoming too restrictive on all my 34 miusa which is why I’m going up a waist to a 36.

Hi, do anyone knows if this label for a 70505 type III jacket was used also in some LVC repro or only in original vintage?

Thanks

Only used in original vintage type 3 jackets as far as l'm aware (especially with the first type care tag sewn in underneath). Lvc only repro'd the c.1967 type 3 (70505) and the earlier 1962 557xx.

Thank you, a 70505 with this label and no stamp on button is consistent with an original vintage big E? I know that the care tag was introduced at the beginning of the 70s when big E ended but maybe for a short period the two coexisted?

Exactly that. Big E labels were still being put on garments until 1973, when the small e/batwing logo took over.

I think that most generic type 3's with big E labels made between 1969 and 1974 have either 521, 52 or sometimes pock-marked/blank button backs as there were only 3 factories making that particular denim jacket at the time.

Thank you very much. Just out of curiosity do you know which factory used blank button backs at the time?

Levis had something like 70+ factories worldwide at this point so not enough info to narrow it down unfortunately.

Recently purchased LVC 501 1947 model unwashed  (made in Turkey). size 33w 34l

After soaking it only shrank 1 inch in the leg with zero leg twist

now compared to my cone mills 1966 lvc which shrank 2 inch in the leg with decent leg twist also the denim feels way more sturdy. and it is also 12 oz denim which is the same as the made in turkey 1947 also 12 oz.

I have given it a second soak with warm water today will see if it shrinks a little more and if there is any leg twist at all.

I am disappointed with LVC made in turkey last time i buy the made in turkey LVC 501. I have yet to try the made in japan when they stopped making it in the usa.

-Avoid 501 LVC made in Turkey-.

i am going back to made in japan repro of the 501 from  brands like TCB, and Wharehouse.

Anyone pick-up a pair of the 501 LEVI'S ORIGINAL 150TH BIRTHDAY SELVEDGE JEANS?
There the ones that have text on the selvedge which is a bit off-putting.
Just reading some of the review and there seems to be mixed opinions regarding the Shrink to Fit - some say they do shrink and some say they don't which is kind of weird?
Levi's informed the denim is made in China but didn't say where they are made.

@cool_hand Yes I’m pretty sure they are shrink to fit. However, like most Levi’s today they only come in a 32 and 34 inseam which will be quite short when completely shrunk.

Great news, some rigid LVC models are now finally available with a 36 inseam.

Those are the latest 1880 LVC did? Just before White Oak shut down? They look lovely!

Just discovered the tiny dots on one of my pairs of vintage Big E 502-0117s. The second pic is of the button on the other pair with no dots.

Anybody going to the Son of a Stag 30th Anniversary Party?

The photo suggests two different zippers on each pair? One looks like a Talon 42? Can you confirm?

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
