For those UK based StyleCreep sale has started and they have LVC jeans for just over £100, tempted by the rigid 1954s but measurements make them seem only just 38" so no real room for shrinkage.

There is also a Cone Mills blanket lined type two on Marrkt for £175 which seems reasonable. It's a 38, if it were my size I'd have bought it already.

Ive got some orignal 78s on ebay at moment.

I'm a size 34/36, and didn't see anything in that size range. but thanks for the head's up. Bought a pair of cone 511's tho, which I'm hoping will fit. I'm just curious how the denim fades and proud to wear some miusa levis :)

Welp, I snagged some cone mills 511s from the bay. Not gonna lie, they are infinitely better than the '84 lvc made in Turkey 501s. Everything about them screams quality. Outside of the shortish front rise, I could not ask for anything else in a pair of jeans.

I've also been looking at original '84 501s. Non selvage, but I don't care. I am curious however about the difference between the regular shrink to fit versions and the 'student fit' version. Anyone know?

Anyone have some wisdom about the denim used for the 67 505 over the years? Specifically about the Kiahara vs. Cone debate - I saw earlier posts here mentioning that it has always been Kaihara, but have also seen conflicting points that there were also Cone versions at some point. A friend of mine is offering me a brand new without tags pair I believe is from ~2012 or earlier. Don't have any pics on hand at the moment, but they paper patch still has very small "made in USA" printed between lot # and size, which I know was eventually removed on more recent versions

Comparing my new 1937 501XXc s with my 1937 201XX s made 11 months apart at Valencia Street. The 501XXc 's inner label shows it as a 201. Some deadstock 501XXc s are still available but you can no longer get them for around £210 which you could a few weeks back in the sale  at https://item.rakuten.co.jp/birigo/levis-37201-0003/

I know this is mostly a denim thread but I have a soft spot for LVC sweatshirts and Tees. The cuts fit my short stocky ass better and they can usually be picked up at a hefty end of season discount.

I know they aren't as hardcore faithful as some of the loopwheeled Japanese repro brands but I love the freedom sleeves and very wearable fabric weight on the crewnecks. And the design of the 1950s hoodie is like nothing else out there. I also have one in black with some of the nicest heaviest French terry ever.

My old LVC 1955 501's must be over fifteen years old now. They've been patched and repaired and keep going strong.

These from S1 2006 had a small e tab. They came from American Classics and they had them the same with small e, big E and plain  R (registered trademark) tabs so I got 2 of each but wore the little es in first.

I still haven’t been able to uncover any definitive evidence re the 822 button code but here’s a bit of interwebz detective work.

First, a link to a pair of LVC 1873 First Blue Jeans for sale at Pavement Clothing in Japan with an 822 button and 555 tag. The description from the site is below.

“The W31L36 has number 555 on both the reverse side of the top button and the inner tag whereas the W36L38 has 822 for the button and 555 for the inner tag, however they are both from the same 2000 collection and made in the Valencia factory. Also the W31 has the paper tag missing. The w36 has all the tags attached.”

I’ve also seen an LVC 507 jacket on Japanese Amazon with a description including an 822 button code, claiming they were made in 2000 at Valencia St.

Finally, here’s a screen capture from eBay of another pair of LVC 1873s currently for sale ($600), with an 822 tag, made in 1999. The seller doesn’t know which factory this represented. I think this is the same pair/photo that Dr Heech posted yesterday.

Has anybody heard of the Washington State All Seasons Factory? I believe that may be factory 822. @Maynard Friedman  @PaulT

anyone have experience with Levi's Japan 1966 501s?

believe these were manufactured exclusively in the late 90s- early 00s? fuzzy on LVC japan operating dates. I'm curious what the denim is like on these, but having a hard time finding photographs of worn pairs.

& I'm wondering if anyone could advise on sizing for them... how do measurements relate to tag size? jeans would be hot washed and then air dried prior to wear, and then the hot washed & air dried once or twice a month. curious how much shrinkage comes off the length and off the waist.

and are there considerable differences between LVC japan and regular LVC 66s anyone could comment on?

I think I may have the answer:

  spacer
If Washington State All Seasons Factory is an autotranslate for Four Seasons Sewing LLC, that was a Washington Wa Limited-Liability Company which filed on December 19, 2012. The company's filing status is listed as Administratively Dissolved and its File Number is 603261637.

So, @Maynard Friedman and  @PaulT and anyone else who might know, it would appear that 822 was not a Levis factory, but a cut and sew factory like Taylor Togs, would it not?

These are my only (rather large) 822s.

A bit of character starting to show through on my 1937 501XXc s after just over 7 weeks' wear. No washes, no soaks, just plain raw September 1998 Valencia Street jeans.

I'm sorry to spam the thread... but I'm continuing to pursue older LVC 66 501s.

Was not able to find any information about shrinkage on LVC Japan editions, so am pivoting to made in USA/ cone.

I'm curious what kind of inseam shrinkage to expect with US made, cone pairs. Looking for ideally 32" after repeated 60s style hot laundromat washes & air drying, but don't mind getting the jeans hemmed. Seems like the production of L36 (safest option) pairs was limited, could I get away with an L34 pair? Would be extremely helpful if someone with experience could post measurements of their cone 66s in L34 & L36 with corresponding general wash history.

Searched a lot for this info on the forum and elsewhere. Not that easy to find info about the inseam, waist size advice (go true to size) is readily available.

In my experience of LVC in general, the important thing is not necessarily the tagged length but what they actually measure as this can vary. There are short 36L pairs and long 34L pairs that can be quite similar in length. The opposite scenario is equally plausible too, where there is a significant difference in measurement. Overall, if you know the measured length, I think you can expect about 3” shrinkage with washing at 40-60°C and not using a tumble dryer.
