I meant modify jackets to be able to join with an insulator.  I love my Visvim Nomad and would love to be able to button / snap an insulator in but it doesn't have mount points.

some of the older nomads had them.

it depresses me that I probably won't find either of these two. can't see the insulator being warmer then some of these other brands though, my veilance one has been keeping me cozy this winter.

I tried on a Leaf Naga the other day, it's an unbelievably tight fit and a super super comfortable baselayer. I'm thinking of looking into the un-hooded version of it. Though for now I can't stop staring at the Stone Island Shadow Project quilted baselayer and other such things I can't afford after a recent stop at the Arc'teryx factory store.

I'm looking for two bits of advice from this thread, if anyone can help me out. Has anyone seen the SISP cardigan from F/W13 floating around in a small? I can only find a large left in stock anywhere. Also, I'd love to find a good technical belt that isn't juts on a sliding adjustable thing designed for large people, I'm super small and those can't even come close to fitting me without almost being able to wrap around me twice.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Rho AR? There are more differences between the two than just the hood. The naga is patterned differently and made out of two different hardface-treated materials, whereas the rho, which is a dedicated baselayer, is just pure powerstretch throughout.

Companies like http://fabricline.com/ sell technical fabrics, trims and components. If you really wanted to alter an existing jacket you could order some sew free adhesive from them and fabric, sew your buttons to the fabric them cut your adhesive to size and use a home iron set on high heat to fuse it to the interior of the jacket.

Having a heat press (something you could find at most run of the mill print shops that do t shirts) would be best, but most home irons can get hot enough to melt adhesives. (Make sure and get a spec sheet for melting temps for the specific adhesive you buy to ensure proper adhesion).

would be a cool idea but I've heard bad ideas about using home iron-heat for taping/adhesives (glue leakage, not sticking, etc.) and a heat-press would definitely not be good if you're doing anything hardware related (i.e. buttons & zippers near the attachment points?)

I want to do this but its such a pain in the ass stripping off the jacket and then the liner and then donning them both every time you go in and out.  It would be awesome if there was a way to bond buttons to the inside of a goretex jacket then you could stitch buttons to a down insulator and you're set.

@TEKsevenZERO This is the reason why i don’t like layering. Yes, it would be awesome if bonding was possible!

I found the Shield Jacket by Our Legacy.

It has a removable quilted lining. But i am not sure about the fit. It looks very wide.

Does anyone have any experiences with this jacket?

I'd look into Cobra belts, SOE makes custom fit belts ranging from EDC belts to Riggers Belts. They are reasonably priced and have a good reputation in the tactical communities. They are kind of like set it and forget it, and use a very reliable buckle.

What trousers would people recommend as comparable to ACR P9s or P11s? Looking for suggestions to branch out beyond ACR, want something warmer and less fadey than epic cotton.

More P10 than P9 but:

Can't vouch for the fade on the Stotz, I'm sure a couple of ppl on here have said they have them already though and might be able to comment.

I have received  some of the 240 grams Midweight merino line from Finisterre this weekend..

Heavy enough to wear as a mid layer.

They brought a hooded long sleeve, henley (ls &ss), crew neck(ls&ss) long johns and a boxer in the range and some are bundled for a better price.

Still not cheap but if it holds up like most of their products do, Icebreaker just landed a serious contender...

And that light indigo color,,

Ran across this brand at Beams a few months ago, haven't seen it here.

I sort of like the City Parka - I really want a viable competitor to the Veilance insulated field jacket.  Shame about the Uber branding though.

Not sure what the outer material is though.  Felt like much more gossamer, light fabric than gortex and so draped better.

No actual hands on experience with them but this is what I see from the pix and description...

Just  the shirt for now:

Cotton/spandex weave will still absorb your sweat like a mother.... and will not pass it through quickly enough because it is cotton.

It can be quick drying but how quick is quick and what happens with the odor??Cotton has a tendency to keep it in

It has a front pocket only.. So you either can't put your phone because you are hunched over and it falls out or you are hunched over and trying to get your phone out with your right hand while riding with your left.. Then you lean to the left as your weight shifts

There is a reason for those back pockets on cycling shirts..(tip keep you tubes in your left..)snuff said

I have to roll up my sleeves  at night to get my reflective 1 cm wide strips out?  Rolling sleeves x night =cold bad combo...

The list can go on..

It looks nice but that's probably it

Go to Rapha..

You pay a bit more, it still looks a bit like cycle clothing but it works..

regular lookin ass fastener

I wish it was removeable (I don't use the JacketSlingæ on any of my Acronym garments). Still, it's nice to see Outlier getting more sophisticated in stealth and style

I'd rather use my ACR WS-J25, sexy piece of gear.  Sexier than that POS Outlier just came out with.

  I'd rather take this schoeller dryskin for $300 than any of those acronym or veilance goretex windstoppers for $600+
