  2. Got these wide straight Oni's 200ZR back in 2023, made from 21oz secret denim with that special green cast. they already were soft from the start and became softer even more after one or two washes. I wore em through winter almost everyday until now and love the fact that they still evolve beautiful honeycombs though being already washed and super comfy.

  5. There was some coffee talk here not too long ago. I, too, have achieved good results with just a Breville Barista Express. Last winter, I was very spoiled with a La Marzocco gs3 and a Mahlkonig e65s in my house that were related to a business which I have since sold.

  8. A brand with once coveted appeal has unfortunately pulled off a complete 180. Sinking too quickly in their own poor choices has created circumstances I assume to have been unforeseen. What was never a luxury brand, attempted a luxury brand route while trying to hold onto past protocols. Getting away with collections comprising of 20% appealing designs and 80% non-appealing is usually accomplished through end of season sales (70%+ off). Yet here we are today, not only the current SS25 (which didn’t even appeal to retailers) but as well FW24, SS24, FW23, SS23, FW22, SS22 and FW21 collections sitting on MS with most if not all items in full stock. Full stock we know well will not go on sale. Designs have gone from desirable to laughable. Prices have gone from while not all that reasonable to absolutely ludicrous. Last but not least, material choices have abandoned what was once the core strength and identity of the brand to cheap undesirable alternatives. J70-BU being the only exception imo. Moving forward what would be the best course of action for ACRNMs survival? Offloading MS stock at warehouse sale prices? Reverting back to what they know works (2012-2017) vs. taking risks only luxury brands can afford to take? What’s your opinion and where do you think the brand is headed? Is E going to sink with his ship as captain or take an EscapePodǽ back to safety..

  11. http://tcbjeans.com/2025/03/03/51429 It also seems like they are making some changes to models with a red tab—it'll be overdyed indigo before attaching. They are starting after the upcoming restock of 30s jeans and jackets, but the wording seems to imply that all models will eventually have the new tabs.

  15. Hey all. Here are my Warehouse 1101, worn regularly for about 18 months I think. Gotta love how the Banner denim evolves. I began wearing them a little before my eldest son was born in 2017 and discovered a whole new world of knee fades upon his arrival 😌… Jumping forward a few years, I’ve started wearing them again recently so will aim to get better shots of them on here later down the line.

  17. @Lorcan Yes, the 1946 fades relatively quick. If the 1945 fades similar, it would make it easier to fade the jacket. Jeans are ordered/paid now

Yours seems like a newer model than mine, going by the patch design. But I still think they used the 1000xx denim on the 1003 models back then.

  36. I purchased the V1A in black. I am pleased with the purchase. The collar is comfortable and I think it's designed so it works with a hoodie. In black on black the shape of the colour is not as noticeable as in the grey version. some people don't like it but . . . . A couple of cautions though: 1) the vest is described as stretchy . . . it doesn't stretch significantly; 2) it is described as wide, but it's not as wide a fit as recent ACR offerings. I typically wear an XL in a straight fit and I purchased an L in the Vest and it fits fine. As far as price goes . . . ?

  37. During lockdown 2020.. i was still popping into work during the day while my wife and kid were doing homeschool.. he would have been 11yrs old at the time, one cold January evening, i took him on a night hike in the Peaks.. it was Friday night so no school the next day.. he'd done the Joe Wicks workout but still had lots of energy to burn off.. We left the car in the carpark at the end of the Burbage valley and took a route i've done 100s of times in the past.. it was around 7pm but pitch black and icy.. on the home stretch we were climbing up some rocks (a section he loves) he was up front carrying our massive search and rescue light .. i was behind him just in case he slipped with a poxy little torch.. when we got to the top, he shouted "Wooo! Parkour" and started jumping from rock to rock while i climbed up the last section.. when i got to the top, i could see his torchlight was way off in the distance so i shouted "stay where you are" and i made my way to him cutting through the heather loosing the path in the darkness and completely lost our bearings.. i could see a road in the distance so i thought.. it'd be safer / easier to figure out where we were from the road than waist deep in heather .. this was a period when i didn't have a phone and he'd left his phone in the car.. Whoops! .. familiarity breeds contempt thought i It was so dark that even from the road i had no clue whether we should turn left or right.. one way is the road to Sheffield.. the other is the road to Manchester, i was 80% sure we should turn right but i spotted a light from a remote farmhouse in the distance and said (mainly to try and teach him a lesson) if you ever find yourself in this situation never wander off into the Peak District.. especially when it's -10°.. anywho.. we got to this farmhouse.. this was the era of peak covid paranoia.. and knocked on the door, the farmer was quite surprised to see a 40 something year old man and an 11yr old boy at 10.30pm.. he drew us a map to get back to the Burbage carpark.. (and gave me a bit of a lecture about being more responsible in future ) .. surprisingly it was the complete opposite way to where i thought we should be going (lesson learned or so i thought) .. and off we went .. any other time, i'm sure he would have just given us a lift.. we were following his map but nothing seemed familiar.. i saw no other cars on the road.. then all of a sudden the carpark came into view and it was the carpark at the opposite end of the Burbage Valley.. Oh Fuck!!! ..but all was not lost there was a car in the carpark and it was all lit up with what looked like studio lighting rigs? when we got there, it was a freelance photographer with a drone and a sexy model.. they had the car on loan from Audi and they were filming a promo... she was stepping out of the car as the drone flew through the Peak District.. i asked him the time.. it was 12.30am, we explained the situation and they agreed to drive us around the Burbage Valley and back to our car.. We got home muddied and exhausted to a greeting of "where the fucking hell have you two been?"

  38. I saw these and couldn't help but chuckle. Weird Guy - Super Heavyweight 40oz Selvedge | Naked & Famous Denim – Tate + Yoko Take a look at the patch (30 oz of cowhide): The owner gave them a ringing endorsement: "Naked & Famous Denim Owner, Brandon Svarc, likes to joke 'Guaranteed uncomfortable or your money back.'" They are also perversely shrink-to-fit with only the loosest of shrinkage estimates and in a slim tapered cut which feels like a recipe for fit disaster, especially at $2000.

  40. Far too big a chunk of the internet already comprises pages primarily populated by and (increasingly) consumed by AI. This adds nothing in the way of original content, and makes it significantly more difficult to filter out trustworthy info when searching. The last thing we need is for real human contributors to begin actively helping add to the noise. I’m certainly not fundamentally against this style of AI assistant tool. If someone wanted a quick summary of the first 130 pages of this thread without all the banter, the prompts you entered would be a great way to achieve it. The (rather big) problem arises when the output of the AI models gets posted straight back to the same pages that the models are using for training in the first place. Now, in five years, when someone wants to ask their AI assistant to summarize the first 230 pages of this thread, the model isn’t likely to appropriately distinguish between original human-generated content and amalgamated machine-generated content when building its impression. The feedback loop that this generates doesn’t have any happy endings. Use AI all you want to help with your personal or professional life, but keep whatever it outputs away from any information aggregates like forums or social media. (I know it’s all in good humor and no real harm’s being done, and I hope the neg rep isn’t taken personally—that’s what the rep buttons are for, right?)

  41. Man, old messenger bags always look so cool. I've made a couple, but nothing I'm particularly happy with. Like there's something about the simple design I can't quite capture and make my own. Lately I've been making a couple of my cash and card wrap wallets. I'm sort of thinking about making some kind of store where I just put stuff to break even and can continue making whatever I want whenever. Not super hopeful about it working out, but I'm willing to try.

  42. Not as exciting as Double0's story, which actually got me thinking about learning a craft at almost 30, but still fun nonetheless. Last year my wife & I built a greenhouse for our balcony. We only keep citrus in it, at the moment, might put our pomegranate in there as well one day. Since we got a share in a garden plot end of last year I got into grafting fruit trees & trimming them to keep them healthy, so this is the greenhouse with it's post winter haircut. From back left to front right: Citrumelo, Nasho-Daidai, Yuzu, Sanguinello Blood Orange, Satsuma/Mandarin hybrid (2x), Ichang-Orange & Yuzu (4x, seed-grown). This was after the harvest of our last "bloody" oranges from the big Sanguinello plant, beginning of february, seen here. Those were great, especially considering we are in a newly classified zone 8a, as of December 2024, and not 7b anymore, which get's a bit colder. Usually these are grown in zones 9b upwards, but the greenhouse & mild winter did a great job. Just had to heat it on 3-4 nights, when it got below -7 °C. With all of this, I pulled the trigger on a few rootstocks for propagating of my collection, maybe even put one in the garden plot. I got some trifoliate orange rootstock, put it near the window for a few weeks and waited for the leaves to sprout, meaning it got out of it's winter hibernation. Then yesterday after work I got out my grafting tools and tried my hand at grafting, let's hope it works out. Tried my hand at grafting 1 Citrange & 2 Yuzus, maybe I will try a cocktail-tree in the future.

  44. (Please excuse the lack of legs, they were removed and stored in drawers for transportation. Also mirror is not pictured but it was included.) My girlfriend and I put an offer on a house a few weeks ago that didn't get accepted, but in a weird small world coincidence it turned out that the seller was one of my college professors who I've kept somewhat in touch with professionally. Since it was his father's house which he inherited, and he was just trying to clear it out I reached out to him to see if he was interested in some extra cash for some of the furniture. There was a bunch of furniture that we loved, but this Johnson Carper set stuck out in particular. He wasn't interested in selling, he just wanted it gone and was happy to give it to us for free. I don't know much about mcm resale value, but I gotta imagine this set could easily sell for at least $700 or so. We just had an offer accepted yesterday, so hopefully everything looks good after inspections and this stuff doesn't have to live in my parents' dining room to long. Bedside table, tallboy, lowboy with mirror, and headboard. Also got a cool hanging wall lamp that I don't have a good picture of.

  47. In August 2021, I put a pair of Roy Peanut Pants on ice as they fit too relaxed for my liking. Some of you might remember I debated between selling them or even sending them off to experts like Indigo Proof for significant alterations. At the time, virtually all of you said to move them along or keep but leave them as is. Even Rain advised that recreating some details in the same exact manner that Roy did, might not be possible. Turns out that all of you are right. I went away for 3 years and put on 5 kilograms with food and drink, and now they fit me a little better. Still, they're long in the rise and can slip down during the day and look dumpy in the crotch and butt, but I'm much, much happier with this fit, and have a refreshed appreciation for Roy's work. It is a shame to not have a piece from Roy, but it is an even greater shame to have owned, but never actually tried, something from Roy. With that I'm gonna dump a bunch of photos here. Nothing unexpected for most folk, but I hope it does show why this hobby continues to fascinate us. Front and back photos demonstrate the rather full "relax-tapered" cut, show a glimpse of the internal cloth Peanuts®️ patch, the rounded back pockets and a vintage-looking Big Bro cloth patch with green lettering. That coin pocket is shaped exactly like the back pockets, and it is very deep and wide for an accessory pocket. The back pocket rivets are exposed but done in a manner that it does not scratch furniture. This is a 31" inseam, and combined with the very high rise (these should sit at the navel for me, and even a little above, if I were being honest about being a Super Short King) means I need quite a big double cuff to keep them like high-waters, which is how I prefer my looser jeans to sit. Right away, you might notice the fabric does have a myriad of shades and quite interesting texture. These are very sparingly worn and they are already crinkling in many parts, especially near the front pocket openings and the waistband. The roping at the hems is impeccable. Roy uses all silver buttons for this release. Despite the long rise and rather long fly placard, it only has a total of 4 buttons. I wish it had 5, but who am I to question Roy about his work? A closeup of the narrow, raised and tucked belt loops along with the kind of rivets Roy chose for this release. Check out that tightly sewn bartack for the belt loop, done in a different shade of indigo. Another closeup showing the rivets and one of the exposed corners of the coin pocket. Notice the all-white stitching used for this release. I've seen photos of some pairs of Peanut pants with a different comic strip, but here's the one that came with mine. I'm a little sad thinking the patch will probably wear off to white (or just simply tear eventually) at the top where it sits on the waistband. The shell stitching detail that loads of people love about Roy jeans. Those rivet backs look like brass. Another well-loved detail, Roy's embroidered name and size tag on the back of the front pocket bag. From what I've read, these pocket bags are cut and sewn from an unsanforized canvas material. I'm just a simpleton, so I'll tell you that these heavy duty pocket bags are extremely reassuring to have in daily use. I am positive they will put up with a lot of abuse and still feel comfortable against the thigh. There's two kinds of Rivet backs here. The ones on the fly are one, and the rest are another kind. Now this. I get very excited when I talk about this...excited as a child in a candy store. I tried hard to show it here but it isn't clear. That back pocket patch has a plumpness to it that makes it obviously sit proud to the back pocket. It appears to be sewn in a manner that would become plump as the unsanforized denim around it shrinks with washing.Yet the stitching does not cause the denim to crinkle or appear untidy. Both the back pockets and the coin pocket are entirely lined with the same off-white unsanforized canvas fabric that's used for the front pocket bags. The canvas fabric was chosen, and sewn in a manner that it shrinks with the outer denim, perhaps shrinking at almost the same rate, so that neither the denim nor the canvas forms ripples. I put my hand in those pockets and the inner canvas lies unbelievably flat against the denim. The details really do matter. Selvedge line and Roy's own pink thread being used in his very own black seed denim co-developed with the famed Cone factory. That same thread that's used for the belt loop bartacks shows itself again here. A closeup of the fabric. This is at the outseam of one leg, Don't quote me on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the selvedge line weave and texture was done in such a manner that it would produce more pronounced train tracks with use. Again you can see this is a really sparingly used pair and we are already getting some bulging of the outside of fabric in the area. The warp threads feel quite plump and that contributes to the texture. There really isn't any pronounced slub or nep, but a constrained level of hairiness is present. Another close up of the fabric, the chainstitch at the hem and the roping. Couple of fit pics, which I put up because they're surely mandatory if I were to claim that they fit better. Notice the leg twist in equal amounts in both legs. On my frame, they are still very relaxed in the thigh with some hip flare. They generally look more flattering when worn higher at the navel but they don't always stay at that level unless I pull them up occasionally during the day. Pardon the unfashionable T-shirt hike up in the back photo, I did that just to give an idea of how those back pockets sit and what the back pocket patch actually looks like on the body. Anyway, that's enough indulgence I'll allow myself for one day, and more than enough to bore most of you. But for sure, Roy jeans are good.
