Google Translations correctly translated the first one as "waist,", but it also gave me "wading," just like whatever you used. That didn't make sense to me, so I grabbed my old Japanese text book and translated it as "watari," which didn't make much sense either.

Damn, that puts the rise on Guitar Wolf CDP-555's as 10.5 inches on a size 34 waist. Shit, I've been hoping for forever that these would come to the US, but that just isn't wearable for me.

2 of my size 34-36 jeans have rises of < 10.5", 2 are between 10.5 and 11, and 2 are above 11. They're all fine.

I normally wear a 36-38, and all but one of my pairs have a rise of at least 12 inches. The only one that doens't are the contest 660's, which at w38, have a rise of around 11.5 inches.

I had a pair of 10 inch rise jeans once, and I wasn't too happy with them. I returned those and bought Oni Reds. If I could get the GW's in a w36, I might be willing to chance it, but at 34... not so willing.

which eternals? if you are looking at the 811's, generally you want to buy those true to size. if you are in between sizes, buy one size up. the 811 tend to run small, so keep that in mind. also, they don't stretch out nearly as much as your nudie jeans would.

Questions about denim stretching in waist.

I have Flat Head 3001 size 32. Raw waist measured 33 inches, post soak close to 31 probably, and after a few months of wear waist measures 34 inches.

Do most types of denim stretch at least half an inch to an inch beyond raw measurements? Does any denim not stretch out to at least raw measurement?

Specifically I am wondering if Momotaro zimbabwe cotton 14.7oz denim will stretch an inch beyond raw measurement like my 3001s.

no, not all the time. i have several jeans that havent stretched to raw measurements. i think what you need to remember is that raw denim stretches out becasue of the pressure given by your waist. when you buy a raw jean that fits nicely, i.e., you can button it all the way with ease, etc., chances are they arent going to stretch out all that much. if you buy a jean -3 sizes to small, yeah, they will stretch out a shitload. make sense?

edit: i would contact gordon at blue in green to get your question answered about the japan blue jeans.

I'm not sure why your 3001s stretched so much, but most raw denim will stretch 1/2 to a whole inch in the waist. I don't think Iron Hearts or 21 oz Sams stretch a lot, maybe 1/4 - 1/2 and inch in the waist. 14.7 oz Zimbabwe cotton will stretch but less than your 3001s.

does anybody know if heavier denim stretches out more/less then lighterweight denim, relatively speaking? i think it was discussed a while ago but i forgot what the concensus was.
