have to wear western style of work pants (denim) for work and was wondering any good suggestions?

sorta like what cotton duck used to wear alot in his WAYWT

You have to be more specific here, otherwise I'd say just go for some cheap Carhartt Carpenters or something.

Most of our favorite brands on here all do some sort of variation on carpenter/painter/work pants though if that's more what you're looking for.

Guys, I'm looking for a repro of the WWII model.

I found the Flathead 3003 and the S3000VX.

The thing is that the arcuates on the samurai are ugly and Flathead usually has too short inseam for me.

Any other idea?

If I'm not mistaken both Fullcount and one of the McCoy's do nice ones.

Not sure about the inseams though...

Thanks a lot cotton.

I found out about the Fullcount, and also Buzz Rickson's on rakuten, but no Mccoy's.

But anyway,They're all short inseam, I guess it's because they're repro.

Maybe Samurai 3000VX? Not the truest repro, but a long inseam. LVC have some 38-40" inseams available, but are tricky to find.

They'll wear off fairly quickly anyway. Not sure if you know, but they're painted for a reason (war-time restrictions on decorative usage of materials).

I didn't know about that, thanks a lot for sharing man.

If they wear off quickly I might consider this pair cause I'm ok with the way it looks when it's old. I'll keep thinking about it, but I might get these.

Thanks again.

Basically the US government said that clothing manufacturers weren't allowed to waste materials (thread in this case) for purely decorative reasons. Levi's had the idea of hand-painting the arc's on instead, so some of the repros do the same thing (this was only during the war, so only certain year-models do this). If you look on Samurai's website, or just do a general google search for the model, you'll probably be able to find some worn-in models to give you an idea of what they look like once the paint fades.

Washing gets all the shrinking out of the way in one shot...soaking does the same, but it would take a few tries. I usually hot wash, no soap, inside out, no spin cycle.

i think this needs to be quoted in just about every post. i swear this question comes up all the time

i bought a pair of SExIH01's off someone recently, and they arrived today. after taking them out of the package, i found they had mold growing on them, and red/yellow/green/black blotches ranging from .5 cm to 1 cm in diameter. They smell horrible, and were quite damp upon removal from the packaging (which was a light bubble wrap'ish package).

i'm guessing in the transit time from canada to the us east coast, they sat through humid and hot weather, and thus got damp, and then grew mold. the colored blotches i have no clue about though.

i've already emailed the seller, but do i take this further upon the shipping companies? will shipping insurance cover this and if so, who receives the compensation, the seller or me? should i leave the jeans in this state (for legitimacy of complaint?) or wash them as i really want to try them on?

also! i've searched for how to deal with mold. and suggestions were vinegar or a dry cleaners. a simple washer machine is most convenient for me at university. would a regular machine wash take care of the mold, smell, blotches, w/e you think?

thanks for any help on any of these matters!

That sucks. Unless the seller shipped them to you wet, it sounds like an issue to be taken up with the shipping company. Did the seller pay additional for insurance when he shipped them to you?

i would suggest taking pictures of the mold. and giving them a hot wash to kill the bacteria. leaving them doesnt seem like it could do anything but harm.

i didnt have a camera so, i just decided to wash the jeans. i gave them a normal warm wash. the mold seems gone to the naked eye, i dunno about the bacteria. the stains however, are still very much there. the jeans are structurally sound.

these multicolored stains are so puzzling. i have NO idea what they might've come from while in transit in a bubble package.

thoughts?

btw the seller is being very helpful and responsive

You should def. contact the shipping company...

And do it straight away: the longer the delay, the harder they make it to get compensation.

I know this is after the fact, but the best thing to do when receiving a damaged parcel is to photograph it, with the item in the packaging, to show that the damage (or, in this case, mould) occurred in transit.

RHT is what Levi's became famus using. LHT is what Lee used. They look a little difference, and from what I gather the LHT will generally be a little softer, and not crease quite as sharply as RHT. It generally refers to the direction that the fabric was woven. Just FYI, there's also broken twill, which Wrangler generally uses, which is supposed to be tougher to fade, and more resistant to tearing.

Slubby denim is denim that has very irregular threads in the weave. Check the pictures in the "BS United Oni" thread to see how that looks as it fades.

in regards to this, i would also like to know how do i tell a LHT and RHT and broken twill apart. Does this mean RHT;s threads go from top right to bottom left and vice versa and for broken, the diagonal lines are that obvious or not there?

Mold comes in many different forms and colours, most people only know the white fuzzy kind but my guess is that the coloured spots are just different types of mold.

There are special things specifically for mold removal, I don't know what they do to the fabric if anything...
