Had a big weekend and the increasingly rare opportunity to get kinda fancy.  I used to have to dress up daily for my career and often I miss getting all decked out. A bit rusty so constructive critique is very welcome. (Although too late to do anything about it!)

Had a few slight wardrobe changes between events. 

 Jacket:  Some no name brand (Saville Row)  I found at Nordy Rack. Liked the fabric, fit, convertable pockets and peak lapels. And the price!  Had the sleeves shortened to hit just right. 

Shirt: Eton slightly tailored 

Silk Pocket Square: Barker Black 

Shoes: Allen Edmonds 

Cuff links: Kikkerland

Watch: Seiko

T shirt: LVC 

Everything else is vintage. 

Sorry for the atypical post. Next time there will be denim I promise!

Honestly had I worn socks I probably would have gotten more strange comments from the people who know me.  

I get a lot of pushback on hem length too.  I was very close to going with socks and a slight break but old habits/ sartorial quirks ya know?

I like those double monks, I have a pair of single monk straps in black and I think a pair of fine plain black socks are perfect. Given your jacket and tie, a navy pair would probably sit well.

But wtf do I know!

I agree. Navy socks would have been the better choice, especially after 5 PM. 

The double monks are nice but I rarely find a good opportunity to wear them. I typically go for clunkier longwings or brogues with a nice thick sole and was definitely feeling the difference by the end of the evening.
