I think I’m starting to agree with you.. 60° wash could get it right

Don't know about the new ones but the old Cone ones shrank a lot, especially in length. If the new denim behaves similarly, it'll be very short but still have plenty of room in the arms after the wash.

I have chosen to do just that. The fit was very odd but I did warm to it.

I should have a similar size to this when its done I think.. in the wash as we speak..

post wash fit. Very glad I sized up. These jackets shrink a lot. Made in Japan too, which was a surprise.

Just as soft as any other model year, they will soften in with wear.

somebody stop me.. I’ve bought some 1937’s now. And look.. Made in Japan again. 3015 buttons. It seems all LVC are made in Japan now?

That’s good to know Andy. Where are you buying them from, the Levi’s online shop?

No.. I’d never pay full price for a pair haha. I got these from END for £155, the Type 1 jacket was from Stuarts London.

both tags indicated these items were made in 2021

here is the fit. I’m not sure about these ones.. I like the wide boxy fit, but will I lose that when I soak them? Wondering if I should size up more? My usual size is a 30 waist if I was buying non sanforized etc. these are a 32.

I’ve no idea about the shrinkage on new (Japanese denim LVC), I think you’re familiar with it though Andy so you should have a good idea. Is there much room in the waist now whilst raw?

They almost fit without a belt. definitely too small. Not that they wouldn't fit anymore, but I like that boxy fit. Going to try a 34-34 I think.

Where's the v stitch ?

I just looked through the 501 book and some 37 era pairs have the v-stitch and some don’t . I can’t remember if my old Cone pair had it.

When I think of the v stitch all I'm talking about is a row of single stitch under the chainstitch , it could be in the shape of a v or could run almost parallel with the chainstitch . I'm not all that clued into pre war levis but I think all late 30's 501xx have this ? Maybe I'm completely wrong in my thoughts ?? I'm sure @Dr_Heech could clear it up

Late 30's (allegedly c.1937) is when the single stitched run off feature (V or L stitch call it what you want) first appeared.

But you're both right, some have it, some not so much, but you can still find it under the denim/chainstitching.

Also from 1941 there was more than one factory. The '1937' model was discontinued in early 1942 so another reason for possible variations.

Just pulled these out. They are a raw/nos pair from 2003. Second generation, button number 643M. They are Cone denim but made in the first non-levis owned factory; but still within the US. The single stitch runoff is under the chainstitching. It goes as far as the overlock stitch. I've included this pic.

They are different from the latest lvc japan reissues.

@MJF9

Here are some more photos. Anything particular you want to see?

Some thoughts on this model, of which I also have another pair that I’ve put about a years worth of wear. I’ll dig that pair out at some point to photograph and show the aging.

At the time, 1998, the Antique Boutique in Manhattan had a good selection of Levi’s reissues.  Studying the details of this model, which were explained in a supplemental  book tucked into the back pocket, made me  very excited.  The back cinch was so different and fresh, it just seemed so cool.  The extra rivet at the crotch, to my eyes made this model extremely distinctive. And the arcuates?  Wow, still my all time favorite.  To my eyes, this pair of 201’s (anyone know the story of this?) looked so distinctive that I am still surprised that no one has ever commented on them, or any of the many cinchback pairs I’ve worn.

In terms of fit, they are quite comfortable and are a flattering cut. They are not a perfect reproduction, but I consider them to be in the authentic Levi’s lineage. A fantastic pair, made in the San Francisco Valencia factory. I will never wear this pair, because it represents something ethereal that is gone forever, never to return. It really broke my heart when LVC severed its historical connection  to the Valencia heritage and I’ve never bought another pair.  Thankfully there are so many other superb options being made.

@FurnitureMaker - this is a great looking pair. Do they fit you? If so, why not wear them? Are you a collector/reseller? If not, we're all only here borrowing stuff anyways. If you've got it, why not enjoy this woven hunk of ultimately, mostly, biodegradable material while it's in such a nice form for practical use?

While in the process of moving, I dug out my old 44s. Started wearing these in 2019 till about sometime in start 2021 I think. Don’t fit anymore - maybe they are too small or I got bigger, haha. These are some of the more recents cone’s. Maybe some day I’ll be back in them.

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
