Freshly conditioned Lofgren Chelsea boots. These have been my daily footwear since last December, and will likely remain that way. The only thing I don't do in them is play drums, because the pedals chew up the toe area. Learned that lesson on a pair of IR's a long time ago13 points

ta @aho for the template Overall Favorite: Tender. Great denim similar to SDA standard denim but heavier. Naturally shoddy-ish construction in the Levi's spirit which makes it feel natural to do one's own (even shoddier) mending. Take that CSF. Original construction with lots of imagination. Great patterning/cut (always feels loose, spacious, roomy, but always looks slimmer than it feels). Favorite Fabrics (in order): Tender 17oz blue line selvedge Fullcount 13.7oz standard denim (so soft but also full of character, probably whitens a bit too soon) SDA standard 15oz also blue line just like Tender's. Always wonder if they come from the same mill (veiny crinkle fades guaranteed) Brands I Recommend to non-Denimheads: Samurai: loud and full of frills, very Asiafied (i'm azn so i know) Kapital: my high fashion-adjacent choice. Century denim terrible for tripophobics but will make you feel a cut (hurrhurr) above the rest Iron Heart Beatle Buster 18oz (extinct): perfect modern cut, too bad it's no more Most Vintagelike Rising Sun. Regret not buying a second-hand but in good condition pair of 1st-gen Blacksmith from a Malaysian seller with bad rep on Grailed. Dude sounded dodgy af but the photos looked real (too good to be true?) and it was only 100 bucks fookin hell man Special Shoutouts: Tender: for @rodeo bill's imagination Rising Sun: wish the Pasadena "haberdashery" still exists and loved the super slow email back and forth with brendon and vu – what it must feel like to communicate long distance using ravens in Westeros SDA: only thing to make me wanna go back to my yoof so i can fit into my 103 again Samurai: just wild...can't wear heavy weight fabrics anymore but still much respect to that ethos lol (2)13 points

Picked up this pair of Alden 9501 (plain toe bluchers in natty chromexcel) second hand for a great price. Good amount of patina going on already and plenty of life left, look and feel like they won't need a resole for some time yet too! The upper wasn't particularly well cared for by previous owner, so doing my best to nourish it while retaining the characteristics of natural cxl. Apologies the best photo of them is upside down! 🙃 try as I might I can't flip it round for some reason!11 points

Yeah. Me too. The extra inch of rise outweighs all other aspects for me. I'm also going for the full inseam in the hope of achieving 'Gary Cooper High Noon pineapple chunk turnups', as one of my school chums described them.11 points

^This 😄 The good not so old days when making a comment without some weight behind it left you feeling vulnerable to the established pack of wolves. In some way, l think Denimbro helped raise the bar and in turn, made Sufu a better place to come back to, although the other forum let down everyone in the end. But here we are 'moving forward' (l hate that term) and maybe one day we'll all just be forced to migrate on over to r/rawdenim , whatever that is, and lump it. In the meantime, l think that we have a solid little community here.10 points

Thought I'd post my size 34s 50s now they're dry after their soak. Honestly I'm not 100% sure. I guess due to how 'crispy' they still are they aren't drapping how they eventually will look. In comparison fullcount 0105w 31s seem to just look better but then they are much softer. 31 in the FC's waist is too tight so I'm considering getting a 32 in those or sticking with these TCB 50s Thoughts?6 points

I confirmed I’m doing the 311 with hidden rivets in size 34. Super stoked!6 points

I think modern internet communities are missing out by shutting down anything deemed "dissent" immediately. Without it you just become a massive echo chamber. From my perspective as long as you aren't going over the top and personally attacking someone then it's fine in my book. But hey if you need to go somewhere and be told that the Onis that you're busting out of look great then sure, whatever floats your boat. I won't waste my time with it personally. I check that sub out once in a blue moon just to remind myself that I'm not missing out on anything.6 points

r/rawdenim has been a trainwreck for years, it's great if you're an overly-sensitive Millennial who's had an IV drip of corporatized Internet from infancy onward and loves endless fit pics of dudes with hairy muffin tops. But anybody older than that who grew up with forum communities like this where a body of useful knowledge could be accumulated and easily referenced understands just how vapid and useless the platform is. Something about Reddit seems to attract and empower the absolute most useless passive-aggressive goobers, which leads to things like rawdenim's silly moderation. Superdenim could be comically hostile ~15 years ago, but at least it's an actual community collecting useful reference for the hobby.6 points

Confirmed my size, I'm going to be in the 5150, size 35, 72cm washed inseam. Aiming for ~70cm ultimately but I calculated after measuring all my Shinya fabric pairs that I will definitely get that extra ~2cm off with a few wash and dries. Given that we're starting this thing in winter that will probably happen very quickly!6 points

Going 5150, size 37, raw inseam of 89cm (35"). With too many pairs of jeans to wear, winning is not in the cards, though I have thrown out all pajamas and will wear these at night.5 points

I think I might implement some of that moderating style over here…🤔5 points

I have no experience with Orslow because I'm too tall for their inseam in my waist size. However, these look pretty nice. The denim looks very similar to the Resolute 710 denim in stock photos, at least it does to me5 points

Going with the 5150. I need the extra rise and have too many wwii pairs without a single decent 47-50s model. This should fit that bill nicely. That 42 model was extremely tempting, but the lower rise of the 411 cut sadly made the decision for me.5 points

It looks good on you. imo all that matters is a) are you comfortable and b) do you feel cool. If both are true you will wear them and get a good fade! if not they will sit in a drawer and you can ebay them in 1-2 years.3 points

I really like that fit on you personally, and the denim will continue to shrink all round over time (not sure how much with this particular fabric but I assume a good bit). A slightly higher cuff (or small hem) can make a big difference in the drape as well, especially when the fabric’s broken in a bit more. I think one or two cuff turns, with no break, really helps give structure to the leg on these wider cuts.3 points

I've gone for the same. Decided I've got enough 50s-style jeans with the TCB 50s and the Sugar Cane 1955Z so trying something a touch slimmer.3 points

Being that this comp is 18 months, I'm planning on wearing at least once a day, but give some of my other pairs a chance too. The current comp (12 months) I'm in, ya feel bad if you don't put in the full day. Looking forward to less stress 😂2 points

Man, I totally forgot about Skull too, the 5010xx specifically. And of course, SC Okinawa.2 points

This subreddit is just embarrassing.. one time I was organising some of my clothes in storage for listing and snapped a few pics of my denim and indigo items that were down there as well and my post was deleted for... buying and selling... even though I essentially reiterated what I just said here. Another time I offhand said the mods pander to inexperienced users and got banned for 30 days, reached out to the mods and they said i was cyberbullying!! I was a moderator on a fashion forum many times larger than that subreddit for a good few years, never once did I ever think I was being cyberbullied, that was just absurd to me. When the mods delete cool unique items but leave up posts of people showing off their absurd accumulation of items that all fit the same and are perfectly unfaded, well it's just embarrassing!2 points

This is actually exactly what I was going for and how I wear my jeans now! Since a 39" isn't possible I'm deciding between 38" and 40", definitely leaning 40" though so they may be a bit oversized but I suppose in line with current fashion trends 😅2 points

^Fun thread bump @Talan, I missed this one! Overall Favorite: No surprise here, going with Ooe Yofukuten. Biased as I still look back fondly at the days of full customization, and receiving those mini fabric swatches in the mail, deliberating which to go with. In their current form, they still haven't lost the magic and soul which draws me to them. It's crazy how I can look at a pair of OA's and just feel the love and effort put into them despite their subtle nature (subtlety being another attribute I fawn over with OA). The natural fades over time, construction and details, perfect cuts for my body shape, and Ryo and Hiro themselves being so awesome, it's hard for me to choose any others! Favorite Fabrics (no order): Warehouse 15th Anniversary Fullcount 13.7oz standard denim OAXX (Ooe Yofukuten first iteration of OAXX denim) Any old school Denime Brands I Recommend to non-Denimheads: Resolute: clean cuts for modern/adult tastes 45rpm: beautiful fades, a bit overpriced but high-fashion adjacent Fullcount: super soft and comfortable, variety of cuts Most Vintagelike Freewheelers Special Shoutouts: Warehouse: for pushing the repro world as far as they have, and continuing to innovate and launch new brands Sugar Cane: uncompromising value TCB: entrepreneurial spirit and saving Okayama culture Samurai: just wild...can't wear heavy weight fabrics anymore but still much respect to that ethos lol2 points
