hey guys. im looking for a nice pair of chelsea boots that arent that expensive (meaning like under under $60 USD). any suggestions?

Honestly, good Chelseas seem to start around the prices RM Williams charge ($240ish IIRC, sometimes on ebay for $180). I would suggest surfing ebay, and checking used listings. Finding a good dressy shoe for $60 new is basically impossible.

This isn't a question. Flat Head needs to make jeans sewn with the same cow tendon they use for their wallets. That is all.

I am afraid to know the answer to this, but do any of the Flat Head cordovan leather shoes utilize the cow tendon?

I've got real noob question:

How much will s5000's shrink after the second hot wash? I initially hot washed them to get most of the shrinkage out of the way and have been wearing them for a while. They fit fine, but I wouldn't want to go any slimmer in the thighs. Are they going to be unwearable after another wash?

when you chainstitch the hem it creates a directional pull on the jeans. after you wash the jean and it shrinks it creates the roping effect. I have no pictures, but if you buy a new pair of jeans and have them chainstitched, look at them. give them a wash or two and you will see the roping effect.

Oh, its like at the very bottom, mostly at the hem, right? Like it kind of makes the hem scrunch up?

When you wash your jeans, the hem will have this effect that makes it look wavy? i dont know if thats the correct word to use. If you have any predistressed denim, that was chainsticthed at the hem, it will probably have a roping effect.

are brands like Skull, PBJ, Samurai, Nudie, APC, brands that make mostly raw denim considered "designer?" after an assingment in sociology today where we had to state where our clothing was made, i said japan for my Skulls and the instructor said they must have been designer. that got me thinking, what do people consider raw denim to be? craftsmen denim?

tyler durden always thought that designer jeans are exactly that, jeans made by designers. levi's also make raw denim but in no way would i consider them designer jeans. probably because of the price would your teacher get his reasoning, but in this case i feel that it doesnt work and they arent designer jeans. but just raw jeans. or at least, expensive ass japanese jeans.

"Designer" is just a word. Different people will have different associations with it. To me, designer jeans began with those horrible Jordache things, now represented by Seven, and their ilk where the clothing designers have done a lot of work on adorning them with various baloney and deliberately making them different from the status quo for no functional reason. To me, it's a negative adjective for jeans.

Of course, there's always degrees. The back pocket stitching on Nudies positively screams "DESIGNER" to me, while I find the multicolored buttons, folded back pockets, and whimsical pocket bags of PRPS to be creative in a good way.

Hi,

For Christmas I want to get a female friend a nice pair of heavy denim jeans for riding her motorcycle. She's neither slim nor fat. I don't want to go crazy expensive and I'll be at BiG this weekend. Suggestions?

Obviously, I will be taking advantage of Gordon's advice, but just thought I'd get opinions.

Goddamnit. So, Samurai didn't produce the USA model in a 35 as had been planned. I'm a 35 in the texas cotton S0310s. A waist 36 in anything falls off me without a belt, the 34" waist would possibly stretch out, possibly not, and be crazy tight (same slimness as my size 36 007s).

What do I do? Go slim, even with the cinch? Get some 19 oz 510s? Get some SDA 101s?

AUGH, FUCK FUCK FUCK.

I would get the 34's. here is the thing, they are a limited edition jean and will most likely never have the oppurtunity to get them again. find a way to get into the 34's, yes, even with the cinchback.

edit: if you get the 36's and they don't work out you can always have g take them in an inch too.

I'd go with 34's. They'll probably stretch enough, but if you go 36 it might even stretch out larger.
