Hello all, I have a pair of nudie Average joe's and really love the fit of them but I want to try a pair of Japanese denims for my next pair.

Could someone point me in the right direction of a either a Samurai or Eternal model which could provide much the same fit?

My APC's haven't even gotten a month of wear, and they're starting to smell, like that of a slightly dirty dog.

Aside from washing them, what are some alternatives to getting rid of the smell?

1. febreeze

2. put in freezer

3. ???

put them in the fire and buy some real denim.

in all seriousness, the only other trick that i've tried in the past that worked to a certain degree was baking them in the hot sun for a couple of hours.

best way for sure would still to be to wash them, though you already ruled that out. not too many other options as far as i remember.

Does a modern chain-stitching machine cause the roping on the hem like the vintage Union Special one?

Yes. If it's a real chain stitching machine. I wouldn't consider anything but Union the real deal, though

Does anyone know what black raw denims fade the best? I've seen some sick Imperials. I want a skinny fit. I always get jeans with a waist of 32, knee 7.5" and I'd like to actually buy some jeans that fit perfectly without my having to tailor and butcher my selvedge line this time.

That's based on the Lee Stormrider, which has corduroy collars. I'm sure you'll find some in the Jean Jackets thread and I think they're still available:

The Union Special 43200G bag-closer has an attachment that rolls and pulls the hem over as it stitches. You can get the same effect with other chainstitch machines, but it's not done automatically and is hence harder to get right.

nah for a chainstitch you shouldn't be able to see breaks inbetween the stitching.

I have been wearing Pure Blue Japan ‹1069-O/W› Slim Fit Stretch One wash for a month. Will it be too late to soak it in hot water? I'm intending to wear it straight for half a year. It stretches quite a lot and is rather loose right now.

if you got it one wash, it shouldn't shrink TOO much with a hot soak. it'll probably go back to the original measurements when you got it, maybe a tiny bit less.
