Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

Dang, @ATWM and @julian-wolf making me want a pair of those Tenders. I am in the market for some new glasses. What is the lens quality like? Very much settled on Goodr glasses for hiking/running/cycling but need something nice for casual.

Having lived in England for the first 25 years of life, glasses and a cap were never needed. But out here, man. Very much a necessity.

@jkbrwn Can’t speak to lens quality; I had mine replaced with prescription lenses almost immediately. The frames themselves, for what it’s worth, are still in perfect shape after however many years of use

Hat and glasses / sunglasses ftw!

Wear a hat all year round - beanie, heavier (flat) cap or sheepskin 'Russian' hat in colder weather; warmer weather it's cotton beanie (Rototo), (flat) cap in lighter fabric, N-3 cap or Daisy Mae. Sun protection or warmth, only both very rarely.

Prefer contact lens but all day wear became too much so it's prescription glasses day time (Moscot, going to get some Effector sometime)

Hat + sunglasses a must here in the higher elevation. It’s still a trip needing sunglasses early in the morning, but the sun is aggressive.

However, I can’t stand sunglasses with a beanie. Looks absolutely awful and I’m not about that.

@jkbrwnive also had mine for years (stock lenses) and they’re in great shape. The lenses haven’t scratched so they seem robust - optically, I find them quite clear and sharp - no complaints.

A general thought here - how many articles would you say brands in our niche usually manufacture as a single drop of a fullsize range? I know the variation must be large, but this post regarding the new LVC model made me think. Can 800 really be called “limited” in our neck of the woods?

Levis definitely has more reach than just the repro/heritage/whatever folks so maybe 800 is limited and will sell out quickly in their eyes? But that price tag would definitely turn off some prospective buyers...

Completely agree about the price tag.
going back to the quantity discussion, 800 for an extremely niche repro seems like a lot. Even for LVC.

Sometimes LVC limited edition jeans are limited to 501 pairs for obvious reasons. I’ve seen them limited to 300 too. Perhaps they think 201 (which matches the model) is too low, so they’ve come up with an arbitrary number or added the 501 to the 300 and rounded it down!
