FW for the red tab or the patch?

Arcs, labels on shirts … there’s a bit of a list. Some things they were issued with desist notices, some they were sued for.

I have sympathy for this in some respects, some parts of the world seem to encourage litigation (good money for the attorneys), but in the world of repros there’s little point in trying to defend someone who is deliberately trying to match a particular set of criteria

Interesting. Didn’t know they ever had arcs.  Luckily we still get the red tab on the jeans.

I don't think FW ever had arcs on their jeans (Duke would be the man to confirm this) but l am lucky enough to have a pair of Bootleggers 40s repros which have arcs. Really special 501XX repros that are now vintage in their own right. When it is light enough to snap some pics I'll share them here - they were gifted to me after the @Duke Mantee sponsored 'Bootleggers world tour' over on the now defunct denimbro forum circa 2016.

Edit - and they have a burgundy Bootleggers tab 😁

I know this comes from the man himself but i think he's having a senior moment :D

I’ve grown quite attached to our Californian denim jeans leather patch through the years…
Sometime in 2012, I thought of coming-up with an “original” MF® pair of basic 5-pocket jeans..

With the help of @SugarCaneDenim, we did it. Called them CALIFORNIANS, because of my commitment to always produce them in California, USA.
That patch design dating back to 2012 is what you see on our Californians today, with all patches handmade from scratch at our Los Angeles HQ

..The jeans and patch both date from 2010 .. they're in the 2010 SC Catalogue, so possibly designed in 2009 rather than 2012 :D

That’s correct mate - never FW but Bootleggers as you say … I consider them the same company though especially since many designs survived through the arc fiasco

He’s had a few outbursts - I chinned him publicly on IG after a rant about (Chinese) businesses ripping off some coat MF issued (I think the Hudson), which was just exactly the same as the FW Thompson … or basically a vintage design

I was looking through old jeans and noticed this Denim Demon pair from around 2009.  They were a small maker from Stockholm... looks like they folded ages ago

They got my interest for a few reasons:

  • Are these sort of pizza arcs?
  • Made in Italy
  • They have late 30s ish features but a laurel wreath-esque top button... reminds me of the Canes I got recently
  • I also noticed the top panel on the backside is over the bottom panel... if I understood it correctly, this is what @Dr_Heech was talking about recently.  Them and the FW Ironalls Lot 102 overalls ae the only jeans I have with this arrangement.

I still have a blanket lined type 2 and a pair of slim jeans in broken twill from Denim Demon.

The brand was run by two brothers from the Same indigenous people of Scandinavia. So they had some references with colours and buttons to their heritage.
I met the, I think, younger brother who did the designs. Very friendly. Looks like he knew about many intricate design details of vintage jeans.
They had a cool pair of RW moc like boots in the style of their traditional boots.

Do you know what happened to them?

No.
I think, they had changed the brand name for some time or the concept.

The Stockholm people should know. With Indigofera and Second Sunrise/Unionville, etc. I think it's a closely knit group.

No tales to tell i'm afraid.. he just used to chime in from time to time, he stopped posting here around 2011/12 and migrated over to DB for a short period.

Probably stopped posting then to get on with designing that patch for his jeans 😂
