The Flat Head

Thanks BM & IH for a good, concise explanation of the benefits of the humble waist stretcher, reasons for employing one and how easily you can create your own, although a block of wood cut to size would be even cheaper! :D

Anybody know more about Googies denim?
All I found was a thread from years back, where @kiya stated they were a 50s line for a cafe by flathead,
would love some info ;)

Googie's is the name of a cafe owned by Flat Head, but confusingly enough it's totally distinct from their sub-label of the same name. The Googies label was Ivy-inspired stuff, with a slightly upscale aesthetic. It was more akin to RJB than Flat Head stuff. They had things like trousers, seersucker shirts, and sport jackets. I don't remember if they had their own jeans or not.

Nice man. Do you wear them to work?

All the time but I only work at an office lol. But they’ve seen their fair share of physical work. I thought they would end up more blue with 10 washes but they still seem really dark. They may be going into semi retirement so I can focused on my Ooe yofukuten and SDA.

Update on 3202 f/ 14 June 2020 after a wash. Prolly 8 months wear +/-. 5 washes i think. Slow fading denim, but I'm a desk jockey. This cut is stupid tight on me. there's not much whiskering or creasing. I love this denim, so I suffer through it, LOL. Temps are now in the 90's, too hot for long pants for a while. Sorry for crappy pics. Can't get stupid phone camera to focus on jeans...

F-DS101 Western wabash. LOVE this shirt, but this one is stupid tight, especially in the sleeves and upper torso. And I've got no swole right now, LOL. Compared to other fabrics this one runs at least 1/2 size small. This is a 44, and I'd consider a 46, but then then sleeves might be too long. The pattern cutting on TFH shirts is amazing - unlike anything else. The way the darts are cut and sewn is unique and skillful. The fabric is stunning - amazing denim w/ the discharge dot print. My most worn shirt currently. Prolly about 5 months wear. 3 washes I think. I get compliments on the fabric and fit all the time. It's too warm now for regular wear, except cool evenings, so it's on the rack for a couple months.

I have the work shirt version of this one. It’s gotten way too slim around the torso for me, as I’ve packed on a few pounds of gut over the last few months of shutdowns. I love the fabric so much that I’ll just continue to wear it unbuttoned as an over shirt- though I’d like to think I’ll be able to lose the weight that I put on so I can button it again.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I hope to run into you on the street one day wearing this shirt the same way so we can socially distance acknowledge the struggle.

Anyone interested in a pair of 3001's 34w, old Japanese version w/red tab and arcs? These are just a hair tight in the thigh for me and I haven't worn them. I'd love to trade for a pair in 35w or 36w, or Japanese denim w/slightly larger measurements.

Waist: 17”

Thigh: 12” from bartack

Knee: 8.5”

Hem: 8:

FR: 10”

BR: 14.5”
Inseam: 33.5”
