  4. Another Clutch video going over some details on the upcoming jeans, mostly focusing on hardware this time. Seems like SC is really going over the top for these, love to see it.

  5. So now we can see the the new patch design. It is based on end of 19th, beginning of 20th century woven ones like the Stronhold one.

  8. Workers Japan is probably not an unknown Japanese brand, but I couldn't find a thread for them. Anyway, they also have a WW2 (inspired) set up of jeans (Lot 801XH, 14.7oz) with a type 1 lined up for next year as well as a type 2. http://eworkers.blogspot.com/2023/09/12.html https://www.e-workers.net/store/202312/top.html The front and back rise are comparatively low here, too (like their other models 801 and 802), with 28.2cm (11.1 inches) and 38.6cm (15.2 inches) resp. for the W34. The length is 79cm (31.1 inches). Price for the jeans is JPY 24,200 with tax included.

  10. Love it. Great shot of one of my favorite worn denim details - faded, fluffy, lemon yellow cotton stitching. There's something I find incredibly pleasant about the aesthetic contrast of yellow cotton stitching on well faded denim.

  11. Must be a couple or three years since I've worn my AW DenimHead, (SR12s), Caribous. I've been busting in a couple of pairs of IH-777S-14 in the meantime. However, I happened upon the AWs and thought.....why not? Still fit good. And whilst I was digging about the closet I happened upon a brand new pair of 15oz Caribous w/shovelhead back pockets. Win/win. Apologies for crap photos.

  15. Isn’t it best to wash it and then dry it outside while it is still a million degrees? With all the rain we’ve had in the UK over the last couple of months, everything takes about 2 days to dry.

  17. An educated guess from you is as good as the shipping forecast. My list of 66 type models to try is outgrowing my life expectancy, plus I’m worried I’ll outgrow the mid/low rises and slim fits faster than I can fade them. Time is ruthless. Given how much I like the high rise of the sc66s, maybe I should give the 221 a chance. Man, you people are like highly specialized enablers, whatever happened to financial responsibility and having just one good pair of jeans? I have no blame in this.

  18. Possibly - France (and Germany) outlawed imported indigo … Henry VI ordered the death penalty for anyone defying his edict but the bans were lifted a couple of centuries later - indigo was better for big business even then. But woad was still popular in local/cottage industries so who knows?

  20. You're not wrong Maynard, I'm just practicing a little bit of delayed gratification. And even once it cools off here it's still quite dry, I won't have any problem getting it to dry out in the garage.

  21. @MJF9 the '22 jacket looks nice! Mine is still unwashed, waiting until it's not a million degrees outside to do so.

  22. @bloom In the waist and the top block my size 31 220a are easily one size larger than my size 31 WH1001X. This is after the 220 have had a hot wash and air dry. A this point, I regret not getting a 30 in the 220a

  26. ^those look great, and way older than they are (you started on them just a few months back, right?). ^^^fit is very good, MJF9, I reckon those will break in perfectly. has anyone come to terms with their own pair enough to comment on sizing compared to, say, WH1001X, or SC1966? Or Resolute 714, for that matter. Want to try a pair, but can’t make sense of the sizing charts (way varied, and reported shrinkage also seems to vary a lot). also, thoughts on choosing the 221 vs the 220? Leaning towards the 221, as the 220 seems closer to what I’ve already got going. Main criteria though, is to get as quickly as possible to something similar to those soft 501s of my childhood. Or to something out of Two lane blacktop, which probably amounts to the same thing.

  30. Sorry to be sceptical but how confident are you that the bolt of denim was made in Nimes 140 years ago? I know a little of the history of serge de Nimes but did they make denim (as we know it now) there back then? What are its characteristics? 2x1 weave? Indigo warp and ecru/natural weft? 100% cotton? Where did you acquire it? Please tell us more, this is the kind of thing we all love.

  41. Apologies for the dusty mirror/bare feet, but here's a couple shots of my 33x33 710's. About 8 months of semi-daily wear with a few break periods while I wore in some other pairs. They've been washed about every 7-10 (lol) wears since I got them, and been through the dryer once, only on their most recent wash. Ordered my dad a pair of these and gave them to him yesterday for Father's Day. It was fun telling him how they are a '66 replica since that's the year he was born. Giving the gift of nice denim is so gratifying.

  43. Continuing on from the conversation in the Sugarcane thread, on the topic of proper REALLY rare unseen Nos Levis pieces, l bagged these shots from a collector/wearer on lg. 1927 First pocket flapped 506xx in a size 36 - it says 'Size 36' rather than 'W/L 36' as that didn't happen until c.1937. Tried to enlarge the magazine shots to clarify (King of vintage Vol 4). Also just about make out the copper riveted on the patch. (Obviously if you click on the image it comes up clearer)

  44. Thanks! I'll find use for both. The 710s are good with a shirt, and I can wash them whenever. Gave the 714s a 60'wash to get the shrink out, didn't seem to do all that much except take an inch out of the inseam. Playing with the idea of wearing them for trips in the woods + handywork for a month or two, and not washing them too much, see if it gets any interesting results at all. Not sure I want to prioritize them for a long time, though, been wanting to try either a Freewheeler 661 (I think), a Warehouse of the kind used in the competition you had recently, or a TCB of some kind, and live in them for a while. Just to see what my life looks like. Ah, so you're the one running up bills in my name, making inappropriate jokes during meetings and generally ruining my reputation. Always did suspect it wasn't really me doing all that.
