Belts

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure my experience was an exception and not the rule. Most people seem to be quite happy with the work done at Hollows.

I didn't mean to talk shit, the belt just didn't work for me.  It was folding over like crazy at the back belt loop and I hated wearing it, even though it still held up my pants.

I didn't contact hollows to get it fixed or discuss, so I didn't really give him a chance to defend it.  I figured he's doing the work solo and didn't want to take more of his time/energy.  No regrets buying it, it just didn't work for me.

I also wear my pants super high (well, as close as my waist as I can) and am 6'3"+ with long ass limbs so I'm sure my combination of specs and clothing desires aren't ideal for any belt.  I felt bad for the leather when I cut the buckle off...but so goes.

Friday_and_River_1_25_Belt_1_Year_Evolut

There are some really amazing belts in the thread. I haven't posted in a bit, but I thought I'd jump back in on the belt thread with this one I've been wearing for about a year. It's 10-12oz veg tan, 1.25 inches wide. I'm in San Diego so getting a bit of sun-color on the veg tan happens pretty naturally.

Those SDAs have burnished edges. It'll stay neat and not fray as it ages if that's something that'd bother you.

Agree, out of this bunch probably SDA.

The old SC belts used to be excellent - don't know about the new release.

Samurai & TFH belts are top of the class as well.

Most of them should be thicker than Tanner belts.

Just received this belt buckle from Ace Western Belts (made in Japan, repro of a 1930s original); will take it to a local leather guy and have him make a belt with it:

Iron Horse, do you know if Ace western belt also offer the option for that buckle with a plain leather belt (like yours)? Or do I need to have one made

Slab, they don't offer a plain leather belt on their website or Etsy, but you could try to send them a message through their Etsy; their owner Miho speaks English near fluently.

Anyone have experience with The Flat Head single prong belts?

fh-ob-003-sd-02.jpg

I've been thinking I should invest in a nice belt, and I figured The Flat Head is a great place to start but if there are any other similar designs out there that I should look into any tips would be welcomed.

hollows leather belt, I think I have had this for well over a year now! I honestly don't understand how some of you get your natural veg tan belts to look so old after only a years use, must be the lack of any sunny weather here in blighty!!

Took apart a Kuny EL-900 1-1/2" leather belt bought at Canadian Tire for $10 and took the buckle off my previous belt (Roots Canada) that I didn't really like.

9 years of on-again-off-again wear.

I recently retired my Rancourt brown CXL belt due to weight loss and ended up buying a double prong, English bridle leather belt from Orion Leather.

Yeah those are pretty damn awesome. I have wear marks on my TFH from mine, it'll eat through stitching and denim both :D

I recently bought a really nice bag from https://kendalhyde.com/ ...planning on buying a belt from them soon. $80 is on the cheaper side of a lot of places I've looked.
