Japan Blue Momotaro

Gentlemen:

I remember seeing pictures of a 'going to war' model with black stripes instead of the normal white, which was pretty f-ing cool. Problem is, now I can't remember where I saw that, whether it was in this thread or on another forum, another site, a cool dream, whatever. I have tried searching around to no avail.

Anyone have info on the black war paint model? I'm pretty sure I didn't just imagine this. Thanks.

@ HoustonChris:

I found this while browsing the Momo thread. An indication of the thread that is used by Momotaro. I think it's kind of reliable because of the fact that this poster has visited the Momotaro store itself.

The Vintage label is the only non-sanforized denim they use. 100% cotton thread. Different back pockets than the war or copper labels too. (in fact, they are the only ones with blank back pockets.) Hidden rivets have their logo stamped, if anyone doesnt already know, its 3 peaches and 3 wooden shuttles.

@ Fincarelli:

The man who painted the black " inverse" war stripes would be IIIrdIcon, better known as BrownMetallic on SuFu. You should search for his thread called " How You Rock'em Jeans" on Styleforum. Maybe he has posted in the Momotaro thread too there, but I'm not sure.

Oh snap! The plot thickens. Apparently, there is a lot more to obsess about here than I had originally anticipated. The DIY aspect of this has my mind reeling. If I get motivated and figure out how to pull such a thing off, I would shamelessly steal that brilliant idea. Too cool.

Here is the aforementioned Styleforum thread:

maybe it's my imagination but is that denim darker than usual?

You might be just right here... Though I think it's the trademarked Deepest Indigo of Japan Blue, which also appears on their Vintage Label line. My 0201 were really dark before I soaked them, I almost thought they were black... They were that dark.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of slim jeans that are not too tight on the thighs, the Momotaro 701 seems to fit my needs after seeing the fit pictures. The only jeans I can say that fit me well are levi's 520 which are slouchy at the top and tapered at the bottom. Been through APC, Nudie, and Dior fits to no avail. My thighs and ass are pretty big so Its hard to find the right fit. I really like the dark and rigid look of the 701 but the fit is my main focus. Great thread guys, I am set on a finding TTS pair, where would you guys recommend I purchase a best priced pair shipped to Florida.

Edit: just in case anyone has a 33, I don't mind buying used. Just missed a pair on the supermarket for $135, that hurts.

^ Nice Mistral (I like the porn movie music they use with that vid)

I hope this isn't stepping on any DenimDebate toes, but Ryan Huber from Context (and awesome guy) recently retired his 0701 from that forum and they deserve to be featured here. Incredible evo:

(edit: retired at nine months)
