hey guys. i was wondering if u guys wear your raw denim in the rain? if not, why?

yes. they should have already been hot washed/soaked so there really isnt anything to be afraid of. keep in mind at the end of the day its just another article of clothes

Denim soaking question.

Can I cold-soak my already skin-tight Iron Hearts in the hopes that it'll stretch out more?

When searching about stretching out jeans, I've only read to dampen the denim.

are you just saying you want to cold soak them and hope they stretch out or cold soak them while wearing them? if its the latter you can just dampen them and wear them damp and it will be the same

had a hell of a fucking headache goin to tailors other day.

what is so hard to understand about geting a narrower leg opening without a taper? do tailors all have a mental deficiency of some kind? ive seen many pairs on this forum that had it done, is there some kind of magic word for this alteration or what? irate as fuck man.

correct me if im wrong but a taper means getting a narrower leg. you might want to tell them to taper them from the inseam instead of the outseam. it is usual practice to taper from the outerseam instead since it will not mess up with the front and back rise as much.

few small question about soaking: how long should a soak be? around 30 mins? and when you're done do you just hang them up to dry right after or throw them in the machine on spin to get excess water out, or do you wring it yourself

thanks in advance

Overall, slightly better to hang dry. You can soak for longer, or you can do a machine wash, even at a higher temp, if you want to get more shrinkage out but it isn't too crucial - lots of people swear by different methods. It's slightly better to avoid the spin cycle because you can get pale lines where they rub against the spinner drum, called 'marbling'. (I don't care, personaly)

Maybe you confused them? Surely there has to be a taper if you want one end narrower? You can either have a continuous taper, with the whole leg a carrot shape, or you can get them to taper down to the knee, with a straight leg thereafter (which is the conventional 'straight' shape). DOn't see what other options you have. And yes, as ranon says, you can get them to take away excess fabric at the inseam if you want to keep the selvage busted seam.

Well to be quite honest, I don't know the difference between the two. (in terms of how they would affect my jeans)

I just want to stretch out my jeans as much as possible, and I read that cold soaking could help, or at least dampening them.

What exactly do yo mean by the last statement?

Cold soaking won't stretch - it will just give less shrinkage than shrinking hot.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a little input on what jeans to buy next.

I finally decided to lay my SExIH01 to rest :(

Anyhow, I was looking for a new pair with very similar cut/fit.

If it helps, I wore a tagged 28 and had them hemmed to a 32'' inseam.

I've spent a good amount of time looking/trying on different jeans but could never find something that fit me like those did so I'm here :P

Thanks for your help in advance!

Yep, Stormy Blue is a label under Pherrow's, and up until last year all of Pherrow's repro-style jeans were made under the Stormy Blue label.

I think the new Pherrow's thread is a good idea, all Stormy Blue, BumBleBee, C.C. Masters, Takumi, etc products can go in it!

P.S. Oh yeah, 501 posts!

Boys stack, men cuff :)

By the way, it's getting very, very hot and stuffy in my part of the world.

What do you guys think about cuffing my jeans about 5 cm above the ankle (double or triple cuff) to go with T-shirt and sandals???

How many times cuffed is too many? Just got new Edwins and I have to cuff them thrice to bring them to a wearable length (short person concept).

Im in Hawaii so hemming options would only be average tailoring places, but these have orange thread and are chain stitched.

Should I just pre-soak and suck it up and just cuff it, or pre-soak and look into shipping to someplace to get it chainstitch hemmed?

(also, lol, anything I should know about indigo staining bath tub?)

i do the double and sandals and think it looks fine. too many cuffs and it starts to get bulky

Sod almostnice, if necessary I hem (chainstitch, natch) or get a shorter length and cuff. I'm bored of stacks and I like that real 50s vibe, shorter jeans with a narrow single turn-up showing a sexy bit of ankle. Works for Paul Newman and Mickey Spillane, don't see why it shouldn't work for paul t.

i try not to go further than double cuff. since im short too, it doesnt look good when i start to triple cuff. thickness of the triple cuffs start to become very obvious on a slimmer silhouette.

im stuck with the same problem as you with having to ship jeans overseas for a chainstitch hem. if you dont plan on wearing your edwins for too long/not really digging the fit of them, mabbe you should just bring them to the normal tailor. the only time i sent them back was yesterday when i sent my eternal 811s back for a re-hem since i really couldnt bear the fit after a month.
