SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

im 6ft 155lbs and just got my Samurai S710 19oz, size 30w s710s, THEY ARE FUCKING TIGHT! i can barely sit down, button them(partly due to the super-tough/thick denim), and trying to get my hands into the front pockets is a lost cause

these are my first serious japanese, heavyweight, no-nonsense jeans

Question:should i wear them to soak to prevent them from shrinking to the point i cant even fit into them? what about after a wash? should i return them and size up 1? i may just be paranoid, but seeing as how thick and armour like they are, im not sure how much/easily theyll stretch out, or if theyll fit after a wash at all

Maybe you should look into the S510 19oz.II. I just got mine, and they might be a better fit for you.

Crate jeans, the style is James. They are dry jeans usually at barneys that is fitted slim through the thighs with a very slight bootcut. Pretty decent jeans when you can get them on sale. There are a couple people on the forum and on the other sf with them and most seem to like them.

Thanks chronoaug, much appreciated! I will definitely try to get hold of these jeans.

what are the best shops in nyc to buy quality denim? namely japanese

also, would sugar canes be anywhere to be found in nyc? and if not, what would be the easiest, cheapest, etc website, method, etc, to get them?

Outside of BiG (greene st just north of canal) the only other place I've seen sugarcane is in Atrium and this was like last winter in the sale pile. Famous friends might be a good bet too. Other than that there's big places like Barneys or Bloomingdales, Saks etc for some other stuff like Kicking Mule and APC...

http://www.barneys.com/ (MUCH more is available in the store than online, two locations)

http://www.atriumnyc.com (http://www.jeanstore.com is their online site, also MUCH more in store than online)

http://www.odinnewyork.com/ (two locations)

http://www.bloomingdales.com/ (carries PRPS and a few others)

That's kind of a usual suspects

They havent in a while. I saw them there a while back when I didnt really know the brand. It's a shame - they were marked down to like $130. I could have bought them all (10 pairs or so) and made a killing. :)

what would be my best best for determining my size in a brand like sugar cane?

I wouldnt want to order an ill fitting pair, and i dont have a great basis for comparison

Without being able to try them on, you should find a pair of jeans that fits you WELL and measure everything in CM. Then go check out rautuken and learn about what the sizes are. For raw washes they generally list measurements AFTER a soak so you know what you'll be getting.

quick question --

just got my first pair of raw denim to mess around with - cheap monday tight fashion black. anyways, when they came from caliroots they were folded and still in the plastic bag. however, the folds put a weird crease down the legs and on the back waist band. this is screwing up the fit a little.

so i wanted to break this pair in but i already feel i need to soak them. should putting them in the bathtub with warm water be fine? how long?

thanks

I wear a size 32 waist and I 30" inseam on my jeans. I'm planning on buying some LVC 1947 501XX 34x34. If I hot soak them for 4 hours I predict they'll shrink to about a 32" waist and a little over a 30" inseam. But if I start wearing them over and over again, will they start to stretch out towards the initial size and become too big for me?

dont quote me on this, but for most jeans, the tagged size is post-shrink... so if you buy a 32 its probably 33'5 as XX and then shrinks to 32... dont know if LVC are that way too...

I was looking at a pair of Kicking Mule's on Oak and I noticed they are called "blue rinse" selvage denim. Is that the same as one wash, or are these something else? Here's a link in case it helps:

Edit: Also, does anyone know if KMW are pretty true to size?

I though there was ONE webshop called Rakuten...

Rakuten is basically like a platform whereby sellers can make their own online shop to sell stuff (and buyers can have a huge one stop shop). There are thousands out Rakuten shops selling clothes/ accessories to car mods. Rakuten just makes it easier for sellers to get their product known (people can search for stuff on the main rakuten page) and makes it easier for the customer to buy stuff. They also entice people to use it cuz of the "Rakuten points" which you get when you buy anything from a rakuten shop. I got like a $6 discount last time just from the points from my last purchase.

Hope everybody knows that rakuten is by now :)

I've been looking at this jacket on Rakuten:

http://item.rakuten.co.jp/2nd/sj-s0552cx/

And after running the link through the Google Translation tool, I still can't make sense of it. From the paragraph below the size chart, I think it says the jacket will shrink TO those measurments after a wash, is this correct?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

I just got a pair of prps purple selvage jeans. Absolutely love em. But the leather patch looks a little dull. Was wondering if I could add alitle oil to these to make em look better. I hear its only good for real leather and not suede or anything so i wanted to confirm that the prps jeans had real leather patches.

http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=17026&page=3

I really like the look on the oiled patches.

So what product should I use? Some are saying that mink oil is bad and some say its fine.

also anyone know what weight denim is the prps purple selvage? They feel kinda light.

bumpity bump
