Hi everyone!  # 33 Uncle Karl Last updated.

A very wonderful year and a half, which seems short but long, is finally over today.

It is a denim with various thoughts, such as happy days and sad days.

Thank you for showing us all your wonderful love.

The journey of the contest is over, but the long and long journey of life is still going on.  It was really nice to meet you in an instant, a year and a half of that long journey.

@srudy, no mention of a separate thread, though that is how it worked in the past for TCB contests. We also have not seen any further clarification on what those final submission rules are.

How to judge: Each TCB member decides their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

As you all know, the contest had lived a life of its own on multiple platforms, due to language barrier many JP didn't manage to create an account on sufu.
Ryo would like to have all photos also to make a tcb contest gallery on Tcb website.

I guess it doesn't hurt if we want to make a final submission thread here on sufu for the sake of posterity, but as I wrote above the evaluation and official submission will have to be made by email.

I don't really see a need for a final submission thread as there are already quite a few here, it won't be comprehensive, we need to e-mail the pics to Ryo anyway and there will be a comprehensive archive of final submissions available through the TCB site. Though I encourage everyone with a final submission to add it here as well! Thank you all.

Ok in that case, here’s mine #45 worn hard for the first 6 months then more casually. These were bought raw, and after 6 months I washed and dried them countless times. This was a great contest at a great time!!!! Thank you @volvo240thebest and TCB for putting on another great one!

This was a great way for me to get introduced to TCB. I’ve probably worn them around 500 days. They have had 43 trips through the washer and dryer. 
 

They have had 2 crotch repairs and pocket repairs. The coin pocket needs a repair and both knees are very close to blowing.

Here’s my final submission - I was contestant #110.

I’m really grateful for this contest as it was what reminded me what I love about this denim world and this community - I got into it really last minute, mostly out of a need for a new pair of jeans as my last pair were running to rags, but also because I’d missed out on the last two tcb contests and loved how intimate and mutually supportive those contests had been, full of personal updates and such unique results from each of the contestants. Though this contest was a little more sparse as far as personal updates went, I’m really happy to see how many of us gave their pairs consistent wear. I sort of abandoned mine for a good part of the contest, though they had their fair share of fun experiences: moving to New Mexico, renovating a house, rebuilding two trucks, doing a lot of tattooing and painting (somehow only getting a couple of paint splatters and almost no ink on them … cause I learned how to tune my machines properly lol), a good deal of gardening, and a lot of cooking… and they stayed mostly together through all of it! Unfortunately they were down for about 5 months of the contest because I kept putting off repairs, first on the knees, then the seat, then the hems, and now after patching the right rear pocket the left is starting to go also… but i have no plans to let em go yet, they’re probably my favourite jeans I’ve ever had. I’ll stop reminiscing and put up some pictures now.

Sort of by accident, one of the knees was patched by hand at first, the other was darned on my sewing machine. I used unwashed scraps from the hems for all of the patches and really like how the fabric puckered a bit as it shrunk against the underlying worn denim.

 

Compared to the left side, which has never given me any problems, I’ve had to make four separate repairs on the hand stitched knee. Pretty clear difference in strength, lol.

The hems are getting kinda shredded - not visible in this pic but the creases where they’ve been folded are full of little holes along the back side.

 

The back is where they’ve needed the most attention and what made me set them aside for almost a third of the contest. I darned both sides of the seat and later stitched a patch for the right rear pocket - a bit of the patch fabric can be seen fraying out from the bottom corner where I re stitched the pocket to the leg. Probably gonna have to do the same on the left soon, that hole appeared out of nowhere after their last wash.

 

Here’s the inside - I was lucky to get two indigo dyed pocket bags! They haven’t faded the most dramatically but they’ve held up really well - the wabash is just starting to tear around the pocket opening but otherwise haven’t had any problems.

So this is the last update! Number 15 here. I had tons of fun, wore this pair for at least 80% of the 18 months I think. Didn’t keep track of washing but I think maybe once a month or two. Repaired quite a lot. Especially crotch and seat area. Also back pockets. Thank you all! I have had a pleasure.

My final pics, contestant no 84 here. Again a big thanks to @volvo240thebest and TCB for organizing and kudos to everyone who participated, loving all the photos. These are easily my most comfortable pants, perfect for paternity leave  will continue to wear the S40’s for sure!

Have done some repairs to the crotch and right pocket and will need to patch the knees soon. Have clearly not worn my pair as hard as some others but I am really happy with how they look. The color is most accurate on the detail pics.

End-of-contest update from #98. It's been fun. 509 wears on these, but the pandemic really put a damper on my normal activity levels. I don't think these have hit their peak yet. I will probably keep wearing these as my primary pair for at least the rest of the year. Unless my wandering eye now finds a new pair to wear.
