Nope... at 15 he's long outgrown kids clothes, he's my height..5' 11" and wears a size S in hoodies, tees, jackets and such but if these are slightly too big, it matters not.. but i bet his waist is something like 27" (maybe less) because he's yet to fill out.. we went shopping for jeans just because it's impossible to buy jeans online when you're in this sizing no mans land.. anyway, i said to him, if you see owt else you like, make a note of it.. we'll go back and pick it up before we go home.. we didn't find any jeans and the only other clobber he found was a hoodie from KirshKicks but it was £285 for an unremarkable hoodie with some hype shit printed on the front.. he doesn't seem to have any concept of cost so i said you could buy 2x Stussy hoodies for that with cash to spare so he decided against it and we left with nothing.. enjoyed the day mooching around Manchester though

Had a similar situation, I booked a campsite for two nights I thought. My boy and I on our annual biketrip.

came back from a day out, there was a big ass tent squeezed  on “our” spot.

i was like I don’t care , but the big ass tent family were waving their booking.

so when they didn’t pay attention I checked my reservation. Turns out I made a wrong booking.

put the tail between my legs and moved our tent.

 

me and my boy swapped clothes , to try and confuse Mrs smooth sailor.

his oversized clothing fit me fine.

my clothes fit him better than on me.

Well, I wasn’t quite thinking that!

It’s reasonable for any non denim head to consider leg twist a flaw - it’s presumably one reason it’s eliminated in modern denim.

Perhaps it’s on LVC - selling vintage repros to a mass audience - to let them know such things like leg twist are considered a part of the charm for many.

Yeah it's very reasonable for any non denim head to consider leg twist a flaw but it's not that reasonable to one to spend $1k on 3 pairs of jeans. One is clearly not buying normal Levi's one finds in any store, so it's on them to know what they are buying. Maybe it's just me but if I was considering buying a pair of Levi's that cost 3x a basic pair I'd spend just a little time learning about them

Overall, I don’t find anything particularly valuable in a leg twist. If it’s there, ok; if not, even better. For example, proper hemming with a rope effect is much more important—in fact, I would say it’s essential.

Speaking to a local shopkeeper here a while ago he said they had to cease carrying orSlow because too many folks complained about the leg twist, you can explain it to people in the most levelheaded and rational fashion but they just don't get it.

I'm surprised that many people even notice. I barely pay attention to twist myself, almost never think about it or notice it.

It's such a non-issue too cos no one but the wearer is actually gonna ever notice, and if some stranger does notice it's because they're in the know and likely have an appreciation for it lol.

I like leg twist but if it bothered me that much I’d simply buy jeans which were less or not prone to it.

I really don't blame people for not liking it. Some years ago, I didn't.

You've got to have a certain predisposition for things that run slightly afoul of a perfect order and consistency that so many modern products strive for - and have space for that to not be a problem. 

Not the best analogy, but if someone told me the charm of a particular camera was that it light leaked on the last few frames of every roll (I have an old Rolleiflex that does this) and use it at as a sales point, I'd figure them trying to pass one over on me. Unless, of course, something had brought me to my own attitude adjustment over time where I could embrace such a thing - like I do with my camera now, but did not when I used it on magazine work - as part of the fun and unpredictability that you don't get with perfectly clinical, precise, reliable modern digital imaging. 

Fwiw, I certainly did notice it on my first jeans that had it - I'd look down and see the seam over my shoe and feel that everything was draping off kilter. It drove me nuts for awhile. Now I like it but that took time. 

TLDR I think understanding it and appreciating/embracing it are two different things.

I don't mind leg twist at all. In a way, I kind of like it because I can easily look at my train tracks. I probably would never buy a pair due to the lack or presence of leg twist personally, but I do appreciate seeing some of the extreme examples, like on my pair of Denime Kyotos which seem like they have twisted more than 90 degrees or on LHT pairs with reverse twisting. Nobody has ever noticed or asked me about it on my jeans in real life.

I wonder whether some of the aversion to leg twist is cut dependent. I feel like it would be more annoying on an ankle hugging pair with a very aggressive taper

It's a detail that just isn't that appealing for me. Of course I have pairs with leg twist and get the whole 'backstory' to it, but not my preference would be no twist.

It's interesting how the love/hate for leg twists comes in and out with style/fit trends. When slim tapered jeans were very popular, I remember having to have this conversation constantly about leg twists and some people having an internal crisis when they discovered their jeans twisted after some wear and wash. in recent times, it's been a lot less...

I find it surprising that we rarely see any unsanforized denim with broken twill unless it's a rare Wrangler-specific repro. Leg twist doesn't bother me much but I'm sure I'd enjoy something like a broken twill version of WH Banner denim.

You are not alone.

That is to say, while I do appreciate natural movement of a fabric I don't and have never 'liked' leg twist. 
Moot point now anyhow, but still, always been the same.

That puts me in mind of my lamented, abortive attempt to get a pair of OOE's many moons ago when they were still offering custom pairs and informed me that they had enough remaining stock of their #44 to make a pair.  Before then going incommunicado and subsequently not offering custom pairs any longer.

C'est la vie.

Well ... currently .. my knockabout is a pair of VTD-0101SXX-JNS from A Vontade

Probably the best fitting jeans I've tried from Japan tbh.  I tend to think that Japanese jeans simply don't scale well into the larger sizes, 34 or 36 for example, for which I've a few personal views, but these for me have a much more Western oriented cut.

My other pair, which will win no recognition here, is a pair of Millesimo from Velasca. Not selvedge, but still Candiani denim and well enough put together though I do miss the Japanese obsession with hardware. However, the fit beats all at the end of the day. Though the Candiani denim is a nice bonus.

Bit of a story behind the Millesimo.

To members here, they are the very antithesis of what would be considered 'good', and have, more or less, every thing wrong with them;

• no selvedge (probably modern power loom),
• horrible 'Euro'-ish pre-wash,
• zipper fly,
• no chain stitch hem,
• tacky hardware / rivets, and
• zero allusion to repro, rather a modern regular tapered fit

Barring the last bit (..."That '50s look can do one. Elvis has definitely left the fucking building"...) which suits me just fine, the other omissions still nagged at me sufficiently that I attempted to return them. 

Attempted.

A few days after collection by whoever it was, DHL or whoever, they arrived back at my doorstep with a note saying I hadn't included a waybill or whatever. That's right. I hadn't. I wasn't provided with one beyond the other return forms that accompanied their return.

I tried them on again. And again, found that despite what I (mistakenly?) considered error of omission that I couldn't get passed, they fit well.  So I attempted to dye them. Fail. And no return now. So little other option than to keep them.

Wore them for the first time in earnest out gigging and drinking last weekend in Liverpool.

I now love them.

We had quite a few people trying to return their jeans when i was at SOAS because of leg twist. Mostly online orders. It's quite difficult to explain it to a novice without sounding like you're stringing them a line.

I struggle to find sympathy for people like this. These jeans aren't cheap, specially with the international markup, so why not do even the basic of research. 

If you're that rich where you can drop that much then IMHO you're rich enough to live with your mistakes from your own ignorance.

This could be a blunder, but I am hoping not.

I'd previously liked the look of SDA's mainline 15oz denim, but in that former life here none of their cuts appealed at the time. 

Fast forward, and it still remained one of the few brands who's denim I wanted to have experienced.
And then, they introduce their new SD-100 and SD-800 models (same cut).  So I've just bought a pair of the SD-100.  

Hoping that they aren't too slim.
