What about Jeans Jackets ....

After 3 months of searching high and low for my next jacket, I finally settled on the Freewheelers 506XX 46-47. I had no qualms about sizing, thanks to the wealth of information available in the FW thread, and went with a 42. Upon arrival, I was dismayed at the fit. It felt huge (  no pre-wash fit pics, apologies😅) so I immediately threw it in the machine for a hot wash (heavy agitation) and dry, and it came out just about perfect in my opinion. According to my measurements there wasn't drastic shrinkage anywhere, but the fit feels like night and day, it's perfect now; I think I just have denim dysmorphia or something.

This is without a doubt the nicest denim I own, it really puts my jeans to shame. It's so textured and lively, whereas the 3sixteen denim just looks flat and lifeless in comparison, I'm not sure if I'll be able to wear them together. I guess I may be in the market for a new pair of jeans soon....

Measurements taken with a sewing tape, garment laying flat, all pleats folded, not stretched.

Note: I gave the sleeves a real good stretch before throwing it in the dryer, which could explain the lack of shrinkage compared to the body.

Looks incredible! Those jeans are the 3sixteens I take it?

Denim dysmorphia is real 🫨

3sixteen have pretty much disappeared from sufu,  but I must admit I have a bit of nostalgia for them. I had a pair of their jeans back when R&H were an online store they were nice enough and I liked the run off stitching from the back pockets. Their shadow selvedge is a nice indigo/indigo option.

No interest in their newer stuff, but I do own a pair of the double black jeans I wear occasionally.

Hell,  now I might just get a pair of their kibata denim jeans for nostalgia sake!

fwiw, the fit looks great on you and the fabric has worn in nicely. I have the same thing where I get bored with the smoother, more uniform denim but then I'll put them on or see someone wearing a worn in pair and I'm into them again.

I assume they (whoever ‘they’ are after lying dormant for 35 years!) wanted to launch a T-back version and, staying true to the original, only did so in a size 46.

T-Backs have gone wild in the vintage space the past few years, fueled by Berberjin adjacent hype, so it's not surprising! Been looking for one myself, so quite interested in picking this up, thanks for the link @Maynard Friedman

Wanting to get some practice reading Japanese, I googled T backs and here's Yutaka Bushihara, Mr. Berberjin himself, showing off his collection in GQ Japan....

Possibly, the shop that I purchased from is one of the larger ones that we regularly see on Yahoo.
I recently saw a decently priced jacket in size 46, sadly the measurements were a bit small. I'd probably need to go up to 48.
There's another jacket up right now in size 46, but it's listed for 100k¥. <_<

Haha nice jeans @Broark!! yeah maybe same seller. There's been a couple of nice Slash things come up lately. Think you'll enjoy how they come to life when you come round to washing them.

There's a size 38 jacket as well for 50,000 yen with around a 20" pit-to-pit if anyone is small enough to fit it and is interested. It's still not cheap, but better than 100k

Someone had asked about longer type 1 jackets.
This is one option.

For size 4 (L/XL) in a one/wash with shoulders 51cm and chest 59cm it has a back length of 71cm (vs. say a WH or FWs in 42 or 44 with around 61cm).
This is also offered for a very reasonable price of JPY 19,800.
The denim is 14oz selvedge, apparently all made/produced in Japan: Kurashiki, Okayama.

Current LVC 1953 type II trucker. XL tagged size 44. I have a pair of LVC US made Cone White Oak 1955s and the denim of the current Japanese denim on the 53 type II is very close to the dark fuzzy Cone denim on my LVC 1955 501s.

I also really like the T back.
