Been rationalising; sent the SDA that I use for working aroubd the house off to the charity shop, and Lady T has fixed up my Riders. Off do to some sawing and routing, in traditional stylee. These are the second Euro repro, somewhere here I mention where the fabric's made (Nisshinbo?), first lot was made in Ireland, these are made in Malta.10 points

Nicked these pics from lg - looks like a late 1941/early 1942 model 501XX. The model just before the forthcoming Freewheelers 1942 repro (last cinch model 501xx before the simplified S501xx) Has the flipped yoke, left over right panels and a black buckle. Beautiful pale yellow almost white stitching after years of wash and wear.10 points

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I like the rep system - very often I’ll use the green, regularly the yellow (gold?) and infrequently the red; but I almost never use the blue because I’m not sure what it represents so in many cases rather than liking or disliking a post a ‘blue’ post will more likely drive me to comment. Unfortunately comments can be misinterpreted … I suppose a bit like a blue rep7 points

Update on Libra Pondus (LB 40s) after one week. It so happened that I received the latest Ooe-Yofukuten's, Sugar Cane 1946 and LB in a short period of a few weeks. Comparisons are begging to be made. Three very good products, each with its own exciting features, I like each. Nevertheless, if I had to keep one jean only out of the three, it would be the LB. I just fell in love with them, I like literally everything about them. Also a very simple and true indicator. Of the three items mentioned, I wear LB most often. Almost every day with very few exceptions.4 points

If Volvo and others are in I think I would be - but the 1880s would be a problem as my main jeans for the last five summers or so are the LVC natural indigo. But I will keep checking. Volvo, sorry life has been tricky. It's been a bit challenging here and my 1800s is gone but we are all still standing This has to be 18 months or 2 years for me - in 1 year I wil swtich to 3 days a week so I reckon I've a good chance of placing with 4/7 of the wear that Volvo or Maynard have2 points

The jacket is killer. I would be reluctant to buy that pant without trying it on first. It could be great. It could be one of those styles that even in the right size, it still doesn't fit. I think I could find the fit with the luxury of playing with a few sizes, but I don't have that luxury.2 points

I’ve used the blue rep in the past to acknowledge posts that I appreciate having read, but that carry a negative message (like news of a death or discussion of some other tragedy) which I’d feel weird reacting “positively” to—but every time I’ve done so I’ve felt that I’m probably overthinking it2 points

The rep system… Most people, if using the rep system, give a standard, green, positive rep symbol to a post they like. If they really like a post they’ll give it the yellow super-rep one and if they don’t like a post (I assume they must really dislike something as it’s not used often) they give it the red, negative rep. I understand all of this, it’s completely logical. What I don’t understand (and I’m not criticizing it), is why (and therefore when) do people use the blue rep icon? I assume it’s because they like a post, but not quite enough to give it a positive rep. Is it a neutral acknowledgment of a post that’s interesting or informative in some way? Please, blue rep users, explain your justification to me and satisfy my curiosity! 😁 I wonder if anyone will give me a blue rep as a response…2 points

Really like this one @silencejoe. Expect the leather will age really nicely with the jacket.1 point

Thanks yeah unfortunately she needs a 34 which is apparently much larger than any Japanese offerings. Might have to be a Western maker like Dawson that caters for bigger sizes.1 point

Apart from the obvious different details, the 801 uses rope dyed denim (cheaper) The D01 is hank dyed.1 point

The jeans are slimmer than I was expecting. The size chart for my likely size is almost identical to the Cat's Drive except for a 0.5" lower rise for the No. 2 and a 0.25" wider leg opening, which is more of a slim straight in my mind. I really like the idea and the effort that went into these. I'm leaning towards passing because I worry about how they will fit and the single back pocket and suspender hardware would make them a bit harder to wear to work or my day-to-day. Pure curiosity for trying the denim itself though could sway me to still snag a pair for the novelty and occasional use.1 point

^ Too close of a belt–shoes match ends up looking contrived fast; you’re better off with just a brown + black, or at most a couple shades of each1 point

My 130 after a wash to follow @bartlebyyphonics. I must have had to re-stitch almost every stitch in the top block and back pockets but all good. Next to re-attach the one hanging belt loop.1 point

I’m not sure, it may run out of steam. I don’t think a jacket contest will have the legs of a jeans contest.1 point

Indeed! I really like this fabric too, and it's particularly interesting how it takes the darker dyes, which make the colour variation much more subtle. I'll have one more variation in this fabric over the next few weeks, but I'm afraid none going to EU stockist this time. Here are some closeups of the 'rough' logwood and hadal purple dyed versions. The rough logwood was a test using a mix of old more coarsely ground logwood powder, it didn't dye as evenly as regular logwood (particularly the newest batch of black logwood which came out beautifully dark and clean) but I think works really well on this fabric, which is slightly coarser and heavier, and in this style, which works best as an overshirt/light jacket.1 point

I want hand-made perfectly by a dedicated artisan who's also great to work with. It's a short list but Duke Mantee and Ryo and Hiro are on it.1 point
