Shout out to @okimoto for proxying a pair of these for me! The denim is really nice, I hope they use it for another future release. There's some pretty interesting stitching details throughout. The singular back pocket will take some getting used to, but I can see myself wearing these a lot in the summer.13 points

Spent a few hours on a ladder this weekend tearing down some invasive vines from the (also invasive, but much less work to upkeep) bamboo lining our side walkway. There was way more to it than I bargained for—probably 2–3 cubic yards, all told—and I didn’t even consider how barren it would leave my de facto WAYWT backdrop. Oh well, bamboo grows back all too fast once it’s not getting choked out. feat. Union Special, Tender Co., The Vanishing West, Tezomeya, Russell In other garden news, the irises I put in a few months ago are just starting up, and the delphiniums are just finishing for the season: (feat. vintage Cane’s x2 in the background) …and we’ve just moved some tomatoes and peppers from their starter pots into the ground out front, plus threw in some marigolds and extra tomato starters from the store for good measure13 points

For @beautiful_FrEaK As I’ve said before, I’m not the historical critic some of you are knowledgeable enough to be. For whatever reason curiosity got the better of me with the resurrected Silverstone pair. For a WW2 denim it feels fairly substantial but not overly so. A good bit less coarse raw than Warehouse newish WW2 denim, and a little lighter in shade. I like the back printed arcs. The packaging is nice but over the top. Fit is generous, but the smallest they had was 31. I expect them to shrink up nicely enough, but still be a little roomy. Had them hemmed, but probably not enough. These feel closer to Freewheelers new in terms of fit and finish, but the design and spirit is a little closer to warehouse, if that makes sense. That said, in this very specific niche they do feel a bit as their own thing. The arcs, fabric and detail combinations is just a little bit different. I don’t love too much wonky stitching and these avoid that. As usual, the real tell comes with lots of wear, and that is a long way off for this pair. I am still quite committed to my WMJ pair. As I already have a few WW2 pairs that are dry and next in line (Ooe, Freewheelers), this is - probably - filed away with a few pairs for when my waistline inevitably expands a little bit at some point. That said I can’t totally predict the whims of me going in storage and starting something I didn’t expect!10 points

When my kid was 13mths old we took him to Clarks to buy his very first pair of shoes (also pasty-esque) The staff take a helluva lot of care to get the correct size, they give you a little booklet on how to care for your toddlers feet and even take a photo of them wearing their new shoes, with their name and the date.. Good old Clarks!4 points

I like those arcs. As a non-purist, I prefer arcs that are Levi’s-esque but not quite Levi’s, like those on Full Count, old Sugar Cane or Samurai, or even upside down ones (eg via selective unpicking of the Warehouse double arcs). I also like that pink colour, which LVC repro’d on their ‘44s a good few years back.3 points

Last pic might not look like it, but the waist is just sitting up there due to the stiffness of the denim - I probably have about 2 inches of room there. So it is proportional to the cut. I don’t find it out of line with what a raw pair sized up a bit (which is what it is) should be, to be honest. BEARS yes. I also sort of enjoy the packaging but then the addition of another box for the sake of it also makes me just wince a little bit at the same time. Just how I am wired. But here I am buying things I don’t need, so that’s on me. First impressions are on this pair are good though, I am so curious to shrink them down and wear them - but the time will come.3 points

Hey all, it pains me to be posting this but I’ve decided to put my WoM jeans up for sale. I’ve come to accept they’re just not fitting me the way I want. On top of this, I’ve been dealing with an injury since the start of this year which eventually resulted in surgery a few weeks ago, so I just haven’t been in the jeans wearing headspace. Hoping these can find a home for somebody psyched on the contest since it’s still relatively early days. I paid ~$350 USD for these and I’m asking $250 USD. These have been worn less than 10 times total and have been machine washed and partially machine dried. Inseam may look a little short but I’m 5'11" and these easily hit my shoes uncuffed and with a small cuff. Word of Mouth 611 37 Waist (waistbands aligned, not cinched) 17.25” Front Rise 11.5” Back Rise 16.5” Upper Thigh (at crotch seam) 13.75” Inseam 29” Hem 9.5”3 points

Picked up a pair of 992s, seems like New Balance is going heavier on this model this year. Quite comfy, might get the core grey model eventually as well.2 points

If you want an exact replica of an old Sears or Montgomery Ward et al then they are your guys. Not as good as my belts tho’ …2 points

They are, very promising. The pictures above didn't quite capture the contrast seen in person, but i'm sure they're on track. I'll post some post wash shots for comparison. Shame about the other 611's for sale - They even have the Red Tab on the left (mine don't).2 points

Looking promising @UkeNo Now we only have 3 pairs of 611 left in the contest as one pair are in the sales thread.2 points

3009, wasn’t too keen on these but the measurements fit the bill. Having a dozen of so pairs that I retire after a couple years, I told myself I’ll machine wash these often and wear them until they’re beyond repair. Didn’t care for the vertical fading at first but that has seemed to vanish. Extremely fast fading, these aren’t even at 2 years yet. Darned the crotch professionally and doing self repairs now. By far the best fitting slim straight pairs I’ve owned. also I wanted to add, I believe washing maching significantly increases fabric wear. The first photo was right before a wash, then the last 2 photos show fraying in several spots including the knees, right after a gentle cycle no spin2 points

Duke, you use this thread to make sales and to promote your work. Fair enough. Here is my take, basing my judgement from pictures alone (I’ve not seen your belts in person either). I strongly disagree with you. Your bespoke craftsmanship might have an edge over the mass production approach of Ace. Maybe. Your leather options probably does the most to set you apart, most being of higher quality, I assume. But, your belts seem sterile to me. Lacking an intangible quality that Ace has in spades. I am so curious about the Ace belts and I don’t have an interest in yours. They are over thought out and fussy. Lacking spontaneity. And I haven’t gotten to the second main component of a belt. The buckles. Ace gets their own buckles made to their specs. Hard to compete with that. It triggers me to see someone with an obvious conflict of interest put themselves above another maker. If your claim is true, and it might well be, (certainly the opinion of almost everyone on this forum), isn’t it better to have them make the claim so you don’t have to? All right, I’ve got that off my chest. If I haven’t completely offended you and you are willing to humor me this bit of advice I’ll end it with this. I encourage you to make a small line of belts that put your talent on full display while showing your personal style. Along with your custom work, it would be cool to see a few signature pieces.1 point

I got one of their black freedom sleeve sweatshirts. Very nice, shorter (but not too short) boxy cut, sturdy fabric. Apparently they did a lot of research on the design.1 point

Rare piece recently picked up by one of the Lee collectors l follow on lg - 1940-42 Lee Hair on hide 101 Cowboy pants. These are the only pics to surface atm but l will add more hopefully at a later date. Apart from the rarity of a pair in Nos condition, this is the first time l've ever seen this copyright 1940 pocket label. Wow1 point

During lockdown 2020.. i was still popping into work during the day while my wife and kid were doing homeschool.. he would have been 11yrs old at the time, one cold January evening, i took him on a night hike in the Peaks.. it was Friday night so no school the next day.. he'd done the Joe Wicks workout but still had lots of energy to burn off.. We left the car in the carpark at the end of the Burbage valley and took a route i've done 100s of times in the past.. it was around 7pm but pitch black and icy.. on the home stretch we were climbing up some rocks (a section he loves) he was up front carrying our massive search and rescue light .. i was behind him just in case he slipped with a poxy little torch.. when we got to the top, he shouted "Wooo! Parkour" and started jumping from rock to rock while i climbed up the last section.. when i got to the top, i could see his torchlight was way off in the distance so i shouted "stay where you are" and i made my way to him cutting through the heather loosing the path in the darkness and completely lost our bearings.. i could see a road in the distance so i thought.. it'd be safer / easier to figure out where we were from the road than waist deep in heather .. this was a period when i didn't have a phone and he'd left his phone in the car.. Whoops! .. familiarity breeds contempt thought i It was so dark that even from the road i had no clue whether we should turn left or right.. one way is the road to Sheffield.. the other is the road to Manchester, i was 80% sure we should turn right but i spotted a light from a remote farmhouse in the distance and said (mainly to try and teach him a lesson) if you ever find yourself in this situation never wander off into the Peak District.. especially when it's -10°.. anywho.. we got to this farmhouse.. this was the era of peak covid paranoia.. and knocked on the door, the farmer was quite surprised to see a 40 something year old man and an 11yr old boy at 10.30pm.. he drew us a map to get back to the Burbage carpark.. (and gave me a bit of a lecture about being more responsible in future ) .. surprisingly it was the complete opposite way to where i thought we should be going (lesson learned or so i thought) .. and off we went .. any other time, i'm sure he would have just given us a lift.. we were following his map but nothing seemed familiar.. i saw no other cars on the road.. then all of a sudden the carpark came into view and it was the carpark at the opposite end of the Burbage Valley.. Oh Fuck!!! ..but all was not lost there was a car in the carpark and it was all lit up with what looked like studio lighting rigs? when we got there, it was a freelance photographer with a drone and a sexy model.. they had the car on loan from Audi and they were filming a promo... she was stepping out of the car as the drone flew through the Peak District.. i asked him the time.. it was 12.30am, we explained the situation and they agreed to drive us around the Burbage Valley and back to our car.. We got home muddied and exhausted to a greeting of "where the fucking hell have you two been?"1 point
