I got this chinstrap WH flannel (top shirt in photos) with the Duck Digger tag from @willi late last year and it’s been one of my favorite shirts for this winter along with my Cushman sweatshirt. That made me a little curious about the real (non-repro) deal. I ended up picking up a vintage Frostproof flannel from the 70s? after going down a rabbit hole. Some of the details are a little different (no chinstrap, no side gusset - I think WH pulls from Five Brothers, Braveman, Frostproof, etc) but the overall color palette and pattern, fabric heft, and hand feel remind me a lot of the Warehouse repros. These Frostproof flannels are actually relatively plentiful, inexpensive (this one was leas than $50 shipped), and MiUSA with 100% cotton and long sleeves (a rarity for vintage shirts in my experience).6 points

Each person is different and I’m not a doctor (though for walking pain a visit may not hurt) - but I’ve found the long term benefits of avoiding excessive padding / structure have resulted in healthier and stronger feet. I also have high arches fwiw, though not criminally so. For people who have never taken that route easing in is generally recommended to avoid injury - but sort of like sitting a lot (without compensatory work) can lead to core atrophy can lead to back pain, that can happen with feet in a way. A lot of padding can help but probably better thought of a bandaid than addressing the root of the issue - and that’s fine and all but worth noting depending on your goals.2 points

@Geeman Good shout, not familiar with them but they seem like a really good option. Might fall back on trying one of those if I can’t find a good vintage alternative @yung_flynn I’ve actually been seeing a lot of ads for Withernot, recently. Their designs look good but all they have to say about their provenance is “imported”, which feels tough to support1 point

Yes I do! I have the 203 in 32 and I take 34 in most Warehouse jeans - they fit similarly in the waist.1 point

Awesome shirt and cool reference! Glad you are putting miles on it! I don't like this year's colorways as much or I buy a new one in 44.1 point

It's a luxury brand with a strong focus on Asian identity and culture. Looks like he's part of their lookbook and wears a piece from their AW25 collection, which was probably shown at Paris fashion week.1 point

Not exactly in line with your request but for me, if I’m doing a day of 20-25k steps and I’m not running, and it’s not out in the woods (or it’s just all relatively flat surface) I will feel much better afterwards having done it in Birks or barefoot shoes than any Nike or whatever trainer I’ve ever tried.1 point

speaking of old Fxxx and pioneer v. frontier... from the dark ages and at one point having a pair of both F380 and F350 (which were still the best patterned pair i've worn). was doing a little closet cleaning and found this pair in an old bin... wish i would have had some foresight about 17 years ago and bought about 4 more pairs of these... dig that pocket shape1 point

Late 40s jacket arrived in today. Super crispy still and in need of breaking in but very happy with the shorter fit compared to my 20s and all the ww2 detailing! The denim has a bit of a redder hue and is simple but hairy. Wrestled with getting the cinch back to buckle properly a bit but looking forward to wearing this practically daily going forward.1 point

My 311s arrived the day after I left the country for a few days so I didn't get them till Tuesday. Soaked and then washed at 30 degrees on Wednesday. Raw fit in first pic, post-wash in second (obviously). Fit is slightly slimmer than I anticipated in the leg but not too slim (I hope - thighs might get bigger again once I get over my patellar tendinitis). And I bought them to be a slim pair anyway. I think the waist will be spot on. If it stretches further than I'd like it won't matter too much cos I also went for a shortish inseam. Long term I see these as jeans for the summer.1 point

Very very frigid today so I'm bunded up inside. It's 0°f/ -17c outside right now and Hell has actually frozen over in the United States. To those of you living in other parts of the world, please keep a close eye on us. Things are about to get downright sketchy. Multiple friends working in or for multiple three letter agencies have privately cautioned to keep our eyes and ears open. Stay safe Sufu.
