I moved away from London recently. Wife and I cashed in, jacked in our jobs and moved down to the Kent coast. The kids joined us today for xmas so we gave them a short walking tour. We're near a lot of military land. This is one of their shooting ranges. It's in pretty regular use but I've not heard any shots fired for the last few days We have a miniature steam train that starts near us l, runs for about 13 miles and ends in a place called Dungeness which is unofficially Britains only desert and is beautifully bleak and desolate. It's shadowed by a nuclear power station that is being dismantled (we're heading there tomorrow so will take some pics). We get to hear the whistle and see the steam from our house which is lovely to hear and see. We find it much more exciting than our kids do.13 points

I’m in NC-Winston Salem on leave visiting family rn and dropped by this new store called Fancy Groceries. It’s on Trade St. and they stock Tellason, Dehen, Wonder Looper, Rail Car, and more. I bought a pair of socks (I’ll post the brand later). The owner Max was cool and the store recently opened this year. Told him about the board. https://www.instagram.com/fancygroceries/?hl=en Stop by when in NC! I also dropped by Heff’s Burger Club and got the Fiona Apple burger on 4th St. Later got an eggnog latte and oatmeal cream pie cookie at Camino bakery on 4th st. https://www.instagram.com/heffsburgerclub/?hl=en11 points

'Free' Stuff! I also have lots of stuff I'd like to get rid of in return for a charity donation of your choosing (+ shipping) to the Kern County Animal Shelter - its my closest shelter and unfortunately a vital resource as there's a lot of people in Kern County on or below the poverty line who are unable to afford to get dogs neutered which leads to a crippling stray problem in Bakersfield and the rest of unincorporated Kern County - where I live. Here's a link to some poorly lit photos of everything. All jeans hemmed to 29"-ish. If there's an item you're genuinely interested in, message me and I can take measurements. Unless dry-clean only (Jelado/Post O'Alls) or a jacket, everything will be laundered and lint rolled before being sent out. Rough description to match photos in chronological order with label size - if not listed, it’s gone: Monitaly Sample Jacket - 40 - Large - No buttons on sleeve cuffs Beams vest - Medium Monitaly Chore-ish Jacket - 40 - Large Pherrows Lot 500 - 34" Warehouse Duck Digger DD-1001XX 1946 - 36" Burgus Plus Lot 928 - 36" Stevenson Overall Co Lot 340 - 32"8 points

Nothing to learn mate, everyone has a different look/fit/opinion. If it's comfortable and you feel OK in it ..go for it.6 points

The length is fine, but overall the boxy-ish sweatshirt plus ultra-super-tapered jeans look does end up looking pretty top heavy6 points

Here are the post-wash measurements and some fit pics for the Rockets (size 32). Roughly a 7.5% shrinkage across the board I’m sure that the front rise and waist will stretch a decent amount Waist: 15.5” Front Rise: 11.5” thigh: 12.5” Leg Opening: 8.7” Inseam: 32.5” I went back and forth between size 31 and 32. Kato-San said that either would work but recommended 32 because the pattern is more balanced. I’m happy with my choice. I like the fit a lot. It feels like there is more room in the crotch than the rise measurement suggests. The denim is also really dark with a coarse hand feel. They should be slow faders. According to Kato-San, the yarn have been dyed deeply with more than 12 dying steps. I’m excited to get some good wear on these starting in 2025. I’ll get some better photos in WAYWT too once the snow clears some and the sky is less grey6 points

First one of these, forgive the absolute mess and dirty mirror, been a hectic time getting ready for the holidays! Sweatshirt - Freewheelers / Power Wear Jeans - Oni Curious on thoughts about the length of the sweatshirt (Ik vintage style should be shorter and like the vibe overall). I know the jeans I'm wearing don't have a super high rise, so that can affect things.3 points

These arrived for me yesterday. They’re the s0001xx model from Rockets - WW2 with denim pocket bags. I like the look and feel so far and am hoping to wash and hang dry (need to minimize inseam shrinkage) before my in-laws come for Christmas. Here are the pre-wash measurements, some photos (not my greatest work), and some pre-wash fit pics. The darker blue colors are most accurate it’s really grey and snowy here and I didn’t have time to bring out my real camera setup. I will update fit and measurements once washed waist (laid flat and not aligned): 16.75”/42.5 cm front rise: 12.25”/31 cm thigh (at crotch seam): 13”/33 cm leg opening: 9.2”/23 cm inseam: 35”/89 cm3 points

Some more recon on the Denime Lot 224 '66. Bought size 36/30. Pre-wash: Waist - 19" || Thigh - 13" || Front Rise - 12.25" || Hem: 9" || Inseam: 32" Post soak and wash on machine "Warm" (supposedly 80-85 deg. F, machine does not have a more granular temp. setting) Waist - 18" || Thigh - 13" || Front Rise - 11.5" || Hem: 8.5" || Inseam: 31" After full air dry on clothes rack, wash with machine "Hot" (supposedly 101-115 deg. F, machine does not have a more granular temp. setting) Waist - 17.75" || Thigh - 13" || Front Rise - 11.25" || Hem: 8.5" || Inseam: 30.5" Before soak/wash: After hot wash: Overall, the shrinkage was a bit less than I would have guessed (maybe should have sized down?, but wanted to be safe). I feel like they fit decent in the butt, but are definitely baggier in the front. I definitely want to get the hemmed and hope that can help the look a bit.2 points

They look and feel more like chambray. They definitely don’t look like the denim pocket bags that Simone shared for WoM. I’m guessing that the Rockets site just had a mistranslation. The HBT pocket bags were out of stock in my size but I’m not complaining either. The 37 model from Rockets also looks nice and uses the same denim. I think that there is something different about their sewing or construction based on how they’re marketed (part of their higher price) but I couldn’t figure it out so I couldn’t really justify the $80-90 price difference. The rise is noticeably higher on those though (12.8” for 32 waist after washing I think) and the thigh and leg opening are about a half inch wider2 points

Looks great! I do find that sweats like that with the two tone panels sometimes give the illusion of being a bit shorter. I had a Real McCoys one which was similar and I liked it more with a lightweight jacket over the top. It's very nice though!1 point

Good to see a bit of interest in SDA again, I like my SD-100 so much I’m considering a second pair to stash away for the future, something few other jeans have really ever had me thinking of doing. i should get a fit pic up, though noting that I tend to prefer my clothing probably a looser fit than most would consider as ‘fitting’ here. @smoothsailor has it right imo 😃1 point
