We’ve been at my in-laws cabin in Minnesota this week and I figured it would be a good time to get some good wear into my Kyotos LL Bean flannel and Denime my son’s first boat ride. Same as above - Denime not visible Warehouse flannel/Denime in less than ideal lighting found my father in-laws shearling coat so I did my best Marlboro Man impression14 points

One update deserves another. These are the 01’s in the XX4 denim I think. I find this denim quite comfortable - rivaling fullcount - and also quite stubborn! Probably 5-6 months real time wear, the last month has me cycle commuting 5-10 miles a day in them 3-5 days a week. Washed 5-6 times, washing weekly now.13 points

Justing chatting with bF and Simone on the patch... given the first design was received with more enthusiasm and there are ahem reservations with the second, the proposal is to stick with the original first patch... which was very tasty indeed... A few nice looking pairs of jeans on Simone's feed today... no pun intended 🍕7 points

Am I alone in thinking that Pizza Arc's would look terrible? Pizza tab and pizza graphic on the patch are cool, but not the arcs... for me6 points

Same, haha. This version does not fill the void I feel of lacking pizza arcs. It's funny but also given I want to wear them nearly every day sometimes in professional situations and I have a cinch and don't wear belts all the time, I sort of need the patch to be not that.5 points

That's how I understood it. They gave the same banner to Kurabo and they examined it based on this added 10% brown(ish) cotton to the yarns. On Instagram they have some posts talkoing about it. Basically that the cotton was less clean back in the days. You are right, there are more brands featuring a brownish weft. Or rather natural/unbleached weft. UES is one of them. I think what play a bigger role is on which actual model they base their whole procution line on? How many example pairs did they study? In which condition was the sample pair. A good (or rather bad) example is the TCB 40s. The sample pair was one worn down pair in size 28 (or smaller?!) and they based the whole pattern of the run on this sample. The counter example would be FW which uses several pairs of different sizes to create a pattern. Something I heard from @Duke Mantee and Seiichiro. And it is very likely that fits are still tweaked so they will fit the targeted customer base better.5 points

Thought I'd post an updated fit of my 0105w seeing as I got the 32. I've washed and dried on high to shrink the inseam a couple of times but think at most I lost half an inch. Was thinking about getting them hemmed but the double cuff is growing on me. Loving the colour of the indigo now. Looks very saturated. It's great being able to wash and dry as normal and not worry that they will get too slim. The waist stretches back to the point i need a belt. Very comfortable. I'm stoked!4 points

@aho I have Brother Bridge Henry - early days but really like them... comfortable from the get go and nice fairly spacious last, where the laces to near-toe mean you can tighten them up depending on sock thickness. Nice leather too. I got ecru and black laces as standard, and bought some olive green which I'll try as soon as can make time3 points

Pizza is good. However I'd prefer the pizza positioned more hygienically I just asked if it's possible to put the pizza in his hand, for instance 😉3 points

Don't remember if I ever posted these.... Montgomery Ward 1939 (not the 1939S) that I mentioned a couple of posts ago. I had a really crass repair done by a dry cleaner on the crotch blowout, but years later, way after I - eh hem - grew out of them - I had them repaired by Zip and co at Denim Doctors in Los Angeles. Terrible repair experience and the outcome was just okay. Long story...3 points

Very interesting. Good point with the models in different sizes. So in a way it makes sense, since Hayashi then started out to make a pair of jeans with vintage like denim. And Kurabo apparently was the first to do so for him. So with the banner denim being vintage denim fabric (but of the some specific period, 20/30?) one could argue, that it's the same objective. But I had also read, that Hayashi had not wanted to create a full replica but rather vintage like denim with a modern twist (though for Denime then probably not as much as with Resolute now). So since WH is mostly focussing on repros one might have expected them to basically copy the original Denime jeans models of the first generation. With Kurabo as the then denim producer still active, it should have been easy to reproduce the specific Denime denim of that time. Perhaps WH's idea here was to offer Denime jeans with a WH twist. For their WH fans. It would be cool, if WH could answer some questions like that. Do they have a kind of spokes person? Perhaps the Japanalogue guy can set up an interview. Not sure, if there has been one with WH.2 points

Brother Bridge is good and for their price point, their offerings don’t stay in stock for long. Another brand to look into is Wheelrobe.2 points

I think my first time ever posting with no denim. Inis Meain, Powerwear, Great Lakes, Quoddy. Despite not being into the mocs aesthetic I found a pair of black cxl grizzly boots in their tent sale, my size for like 70% off msrp. Had to try because of the minimal sole, and I have to say I love how they feel as boots, and the black + boot thing gets away from the sort of boat shoe/loafer associations with mocs that I’m not particularly into.2 points

I just ordered the Brother Bridge Escape from Burg&Schild. 50% off. Maybe half a size bigger than what I usually would do. Let's see if it fits. If not, they go back1 point

@yung_flynn the spell broke on Tues of this week - the humidity left and started getting below *50 at night here in A2. It was a rough past few weeks - well, if you love fall like I do. Should be better when you get back - though no weather really ameliorates the first months with a kid. Those are tough no matter what, even in the best of circumstances. @smoothsailor Happy birthday! And kudos to your awesome partner there!1 point

Kiwami in Japanese means ultimate / extreme, so I could see other brands using it in their marketing efforts. I'm only familiar with the meaning of the word from a series of video games.1 point

Yes I’ve seen em.. I was saying to @MJF9 a few months ago during my hiatus that I fancied a pair.. they’re what I was looking at on Yahoo when I spotted these.. now the hype is dying down, they’re popping up on the auctions for reasonable prices. Same re tiger patch.. what was it?1 point

Speaking of affordable goodyear welted shoes/boots, has anyone tried Berwick? https://berwickshoes.com/gb/man/shoes/ And also Brotherbridge (Japanese brand)? These had me double taking, especially when paired with black waxed laces https://brotherbridgetokyo.com/collections/the-henry/products/henryヘンリー-vintage-blk-calf1 point

Well, not quite as luxurious as a pair of Lofgren's. I was conflicted on ordering honestly, scared by the 'terrible QC' r/goodyearwelt echo chamber. But they're literally perfect. I think OSB make some of the prettiest reasonably priced MiUSA shoes out there. In a world where Yuketen's that used to cost $450 now cost $800-900, OSB seems like a great deal.1 point

I know OSB isn’t the top of the pile but it’s not by any stretch poor man’s!1 point

I remember.. shaved head, tattoos, wide jeans? or is that Crime Watch i'm thinking of? If you're only looking at short distance, i'd avoid anything north of the border .. or Scotland as Duke likes to call it Lakes might be a bit busy for you in May.. same with Snowdonia, it can feel like you're queueing to summit Everest but fear not, ^this is what the UK does best.. Check out the Peak District .. it's incredible but bear in mind that the weather can change in a heartbeat, i rode up to Burbage yesterday and this was the view.. Head down walking into the wind and horizontal rain aint 'relaxing' Check out Malham Cove in North Yorks / Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, Dartmoor and such.. also worth checking out are coastal trails, Pembrokeshire or Jurrasic Coast, just remember, it's tidal so don't get yourselves stranded.. also worth considering.. we have a lot of beautiful ye' olde' worldy villages which you can spend the day pottering around.1 point
